SSS Awakening: Rebirth of the Strongest Vampire God Chapter 760 The blade of grass

Meanwhile... inside the crimson vortex... Damon was in a world of his own.
A long time ago, in the middle of a prosperous and bustling city, a blade of grass appeared. It grew quietly between two cracked stone tiles in the center of a wide plaza.
No one planted it. No one watered it. It simply existed.
The city around it was alive with noise and movement. Merchants shouted across crowded stalls. Children ran through the streets laughing. Powerful beings flew overhead like streaks of light, their robes fluttering in the wind. Compared to all that life, the blade of grass meant nothing.
Thousands of people stepped over it every day. Sometimes they stepped on it. Heavy boots crushed it into the stone. Yet every time the foot lifted, the grass slowly rose again.
The seasons passed. Spring rains soaked the earth. Summer heat scorched the ground. Autumn winds bent the grass low. Winter buried the entire plaza under snow. Still... the blade of grass remained.
Years turned into decades. Decades turned into centuries.
The bustling city grew even larger. Towers replaced old houses. Dynasties changed. Powerful cultivators came and went like passing storms.
But the blade of grass never left its place between those two cracked stones. It watched everything.
It watched warriors boast of their strength. It watched kings promise eternal dynasties. It watched powerful beings chase immortality.
And slowly... it began to understand something.
Everything moved. Everything changed. Everything eventually disappeared. Except it.
Then one day... war came. Powerful beings descended from the sky like falling stars. Sword lights split the heavens. Mountains of flame devoured the earth.
The prosperous city turned into a battlefield overnight. The plaza shattered and the buildings collapsed. A terrifying attack fell from the sky. The ground exploded. The entire place turned into a massive crater. Stone and dust filled the air. Everything was destroyed.
Everything... except the blade of grass.
It bent beneath the shockwave. Its thin body pressed flat against the stone.
For a long time it did not move. Then slowly... Very slowly... It rose again.
Inside the vortex, Damon watched.
The vision shifted. Centuries passed. The ruined city became a wasteland. Wind carved away the broken stones. Sand buried the plaza. Mountains shifted.
Rivers changed their course. Civilizations rose and fell.
Still... the blade of grass remained.
Storms bent it. Animals trampled it. Lightning struck the earth beside it.
But every time... it rose again.
The grass did not fight. It did not resist. It simply endured.
Inside the vision, Damon frowned slightly.
The whispering voice of the Dao echoed again.
Power that destroys... fades.
Power that endures... remains.
The grass swayed gently in the wind. At that moment Damon suddenly understood. This blade of grass had never sought power. It had never tried to dominate the world. It had never tried to conquer anything. It simply refused to disappear. No matter what the world threw at it.
That was its Dao. Persistence. Endurance. Existence itself.
The grass moved again and suddenly, the entire world swayed with it. Inside the crimson vortex, Damon's consciousness trembled.
The treasure was not as simple as it looked. He thought that the blade of grass would be similar to other treasures and help him solidify his dao core which was now almost complete.
But he was completely wrong. This thing was as much a danger as it was a boon. The blade of grass had no intention of supporting him at all. His crimson consciousness stood within the endless wasteland, staring at the grass that had outlived everything.
It wanted to continue living. It wanted to consume him. He was the fodder for its ascension.
Even as Damon realized it, his legs started to turn into stone. The petrification slowly etched upwards.
"Hell no." Damon roared clenching his fists. He was not about to lose to a damned blade of grass. "Fuck you!" He roared and activated his primordial mana core. Blood essence enveloped him and all traces of the petrification disappeared.
At the same time, the blade of grass slowly started to disintegrate.
A single thin strand peeled away from the blade, dissolving into faint crimson particles. The particles floated silently through the air and drifted toward
Damon.
Then another strand broke and another. Within moments the entire blade began unraveling. The endless wasteland trembled. A hoarse voice whispered in Damon's ears. "You dare..."
Damon stood firmly as the blood essence surged around him like a storm. His primordial mana core pulsed violently in his chest.
"Damn right I dare," he growled.
The petrification that had begun climbing his legs shattered completely, falling away like brittle stone fragments. The crimson aura around him intensified,
swirling like a hungry sea.
The blade of grass trembled violently. The endless green field that had spread across the wasteland flickered.
"You cannot devour me. You cannot devour eternity!"
Damon laughed. "Eternity?" He raised his hand slowly. "You survived because
the world ignored you." Crimson threads spread outward from his palm like veins stretching across the ground. "But now I see you." The red threads wrapped around the crumbling blade. "You are mine."
The blade of grass shook violently as more and more of it dissolved into crimson particles. The endless field collapsed inward. The final strands of the grass snapped. The green glow faded.
The shattered fragments of the grass rushed toward Damon, pouring directly into his Dao core. The wasteland cracked apart and the world started to break apart. Golden streams of energy appeared here and there and all of it rushed
towards his Dao core.
Sucking in a big breath of air, Damon closed his eyes and focussed. This was it. This would be his final battle before he could take the next step forward,
before he could enter the next realm.
He clenched his fists in determination. Even with the blade of grass, things
were not yet certain.
Damon could clearly feel the frailty of his Dao core. He had taken the short cut and it showed. The core trembled violently inside him, barely holding together as endless streams of energy poured into it.
The core could explode any moment and bring him down along with it. There would be no recovering from such a backlash. But Damon did not care. This was it. He was going to succeed no matter what. He let out a frenzied howl as pain ravaged his body, the core becoming more and more unstable.
