A cave entrance unleashes a horde of corruption energy monsters, prompting the accompanying army to form a perimeter. The protagonist and their group then enter the cave, encountering a room filled with larger black spheres. As allies attempt to destroy them, the spheres hatch, revealing Apostles of Destruction that attack indiscriminately and display strange, corrosive characteristics, leading the protagonist to question if they are manifestations of an omen.

As more and more of these Apostles of Destruction came out of the black spheres, it seemed less and less likely that we would be able to do anything to them.

If we really wanted to take down these Apostles of Destruction, it seemed that the only way we could do it was to wait for them to hunt each other down first.

That was something that I had already experienced, so I was confident that it would happen.

It was just that it didn’t happen in the end.

After the Apostles of Destruction had finished forming, it didn’t seem like they had any intentions of attacking each other. Though that wasn’t because they didn’t have any intentions towards each other.

From the way that they just stared at each other, it was clear that they were planning on targeting each other.

However, they didn’t charge at each other like the Apostles of Destruction from before.

Instead, they were watching each other as if they were wary of each other.

Only this was a kind of wariness that wasn’t passive.

It was the kind of wariness that a kind of predator would have towards its prey.

It was the kind of observation that predators used to make sure that their prey didn’t escape from their grasps.

"All of them are predators?"

One would think that as Apostles of Destructions that were about to become the representation of famine, they would be hungry to devour each other and would attack each other as soon as possible.

But in this case, it seems like they had quite a bit of self control as they watched over each other.

However, this didn’t mean that they wouldn’t eventually fight with each other. It was only a matter of time before they couldn’t control themselves and would start attacking each other just to sate the hunger that was inside of them.

The way that they trembled was more than enough to show what they were thinking.

Only this meant that there weren’t any openings for us to exploit.

I could also see that even though the relic users had almost been injured by these Apostles of Destruction, none of them seemed to be afraid. They were all prepared to fight with them once more and even sacrifice their lives if need be.

They all had different reasons for this, but at the end of the day, they were willing to fight the Apostles of Destruction and that was all that mattered.

It was just that if they lost control and attacked the Apostles of Destruction before we could create that opening, it really would be a hard fight.

"Who would have thought that it would come down to a matter of time and willpower?"

From what I could see, it seemed like the ones on our side would lose their patience first.

Before that could happen, I had to do something to stop them or else we really would be in trouble.

"Since we can’t find any openings, we’ll have to create our own openings."

The others looked at me with confused expressions when they heard this, but then they just looked at me as if they would follow my lead.

I was the one that was in charge of this mission, so they would listen to my orders in the end.

Though I could still see the impatience that was in their eyes as they looked at me.

"Using divine energy won’t work, but it isn’t as if we can control corruption energy either..."

Though I had proposed this, it wasn’t as if I knew how to trick them into attacking each other. After all, it really didn’t seem like there were any of the Apostles of Destruction that wanted to make a move.

It seemed like all of them were perfectly content with just waiting until the right moment.

The longer that this went on, the more of these Apostles of Destruction would appear since they were still coming out of the black spheres. The more Apostles of Destruction there were, the harder that it would be to do anything.

With the way that things were going, it really felt like we would have no choice but to start a fight that would be hard for us.

That was until I suddenly thought of something.

"If they’re acting like predators, then why not use the thoughts of a predator against them?"

My brain quickly started turning once I jumped on this idea, trying to figure out what we could use against these Apostles of Destruction. Then all of a sudden, there was a realization that came to me.

"When it comes to hunters and their prey, they would always wait until their prey was at its weakest before attacking. They want to make sure that it’s as easy as possible to take down their prey."

I didn’t know if this would apply to these Apostles of Destruction, but it was certainly something that was worth a try. After all, I already knew just how I would make them think that the other side had become weaker.

"Wait for my signal and then attack." I said to the relic users behind me before focusing on creating the thing that would fool the Apostles of Destruction.

None of the Apostles of Destruction were able to notice that anything was wrong because I was careful as I released my divine energy. I made sure that it was so thin that it was almost as if it wasn’t there.

However, the divine energy was gathering inside of the room filled with Apostles of Destruction.

After a while, there was enough divine energy that was gathered that would allow me to do what I wanted to do.

"Get ready, I’m about to start."

All of the relic users tensed when they heard this, but they gripped their relics and prepared for the fight.

In the end, the signal that started it all was when one of the Apostles of Destruction looked at another one of Apostles of Destruction.
