Massive armies have been mobilized across the racial alliance, leading to widespread concern among the populace about an impending war or invasion. Despite the public's worry, soldiers pushed forward, clearing out monsters from affected areas. While many monster corpses were incinerated on-site per orders, a special team of specialists was permitted to examine and harvest some for unknown reasons. This elite relic-user team then moved to confront a dangerous cave rumored to contain corruption energy and black spheres.

There was nothing that came out of the cave when we first landed, but there was a reaction that came from the cave the moment that we approached.

The corruption energy monsters inside the cave poured out once we came close enough and they kept surging out as if they wouldn’t stop.

Seeing this, there really was no doubting the amount of corruption energy that was gathered in this cave.

However, it was only this amount of corruption energy that would be able to create one of the members of the Four Omens.

None of us made a move when we saw the corruption energy monsters coming out of the cave. There was no need for any of us to actually do anything since there were others that were here as well.

"Surround them and push them back."

I didn’t even have to give them the order, this was an order that was given by the leader of the soldiers that came with us. After all, it wasn’t just us alone that had come all this way, there was an entire army that had come with us.

Every one of the soldiers was equipped with something that would allow them to deal with the corruption energy monsters, so there was no need for them to have any fear as they charged at the corruption energy monsters.

Though no one charged too deep since their main purpose was to suppress them.

It didn’t take long for a perimeter to be formed around the cave and the corruption energy monsters were pushed back.

Once they were pushed back, that was when we went forward.

The one that took the lead was no one other than Joan.

She was the one that would be opening the path for us just like last time, which was why she was the one that was at the very front of our group. Though from the look that she gave me, it was clear that she wanted to come along as well.

All I could do was pat her on the side to comfort her.

With a single breath, the path forward was cleared.

Seeing this, the only thing that I could do was silently apologize to Joan for not taking her along. After all, there really was nothing that was better at clearing the path forward than her flame breath.

With the path cleared, it wasn’t hard for us to make our way through the wave of corruption energy monsters that were swarming out of the cave. In fact, it seemed like most of the corruption energy monsters stayed out of our way all because of Joan’s flame breath.

As we entered the cave, there really wasn’t much to look at since there were only corruption energy monsters that were swarming out of it. These corruption energy monsters had already broken down most things that were here.

Still, it wasn’t as if there was anything that they could do to the divine energy flames.

Once we reached the end of the corridor of flames, we found what we were looking for.

As expected, there really was a room that was filled with the black spheres.

"It’s bigger than the ones that we saw before?"

I was surprised to see that these black spheres were clearly bigger than the ones that we had encountered last time. But the one thing that didn’t change was the aura that came from them.

In fact, it didn’t feel like the aura that was coming from them was stronger than the black spheres that they encountered previously even though they were bigger.

When the others saw them, it seemed like they wanted to go forward and destroy the black spheres.

I didn’t stop them since it seemed like the right thing to do, it was better to destroy them before they suddenly hatched.

Only it didn’t feel like it was right either.

"Stop."

Before I could say this, they were already right in front of the black spheres.

The moment that they pulled out their relics, there was a reaction that came from the black spheres.

"Crack."

This was a sound that I was familiar with, but it was already too late to stop it.

The only thing that I could do was create barriers around the ones that were right by the black spheres.

If I had been a second late, then they would have been stabbed by the thorns that came out.

It seemed that when they first came out of their black spheres, the first thing that they worried about was their own safety. Which was why they attacked whatever was near them when they came out.

Those that had been attacked immediately moved back when this happened and created distance with the Apostles of Destruction that came out of the black spheres.

It was just that these things were a bit strange compared to the ones that we saw previously.

There were some that took the form of humans, but there were also some that seemed to take the form of beasts.

While they weren’t attacking those people that were standing by them, they did release an aura that was different from normal. The corruption energy that was coming from them seemed to be ripping the parts of the cave that they were standing on.

It was only a small amount, but one could see the erosion that came because of this.

"Are they manifesting abilities related to their omen?"

This was something that I had encountered previously when I faced the Four Omens. They used abilities that matched the omen that they represented.

In this case, would this mean that the Apostles of Destruction that spawned from these black spheres were supposed to be the new Famine?

If that was the case, I couldn’t help wondering for a second what happened to the previous Famine.

Though this certainly wasn’t the time to be thinking about this with how many Apostles of Destruction were coming out of the black spheres.
