The relic users struggled in their first real combat experience, surprising the narrator with their lack of skill despite their enhanced physiques. Old Man Lancelot's controlled training environment allowed them to gradually adapt and improve. As night fell, the students, exhausted but exhilarated, returned to camp, their lingering divine energy deterring any nearby monsters, making the training feel more like a school trip.

"Rise and shine, it’s time to train!"

It was early in the morning when Old Man Lancelot woke everyone up.

This was different from yesterday when he allowed everyone to rise at a reasonable time.

Today, he had made sure that everyone rose at the crack of dawn.

However, there wasn’t a single person that was complacent about this.

After learning from Old Man Lancelot for a while now, they had a good idea of what kind of personality he had. If he was waking everyone up in the morning like this, then that meant that there was something that he wanted them to do.

There had to be some kind of new training that he wanted them to undertake.

While they didn’t have any idea of what kind of training it would be, they didn’t doubt that it would be something that was good for them. After all, they had already experienced his training sessions before and the results were in front of them.

When I saw them acting this way, I couldn’t help feeling that Old Man Lancelot had really taught them well.

They were listening to him as if his words were gospel at this point...

In a way, it was almost like how baby ducks imprinted on the first thing that they saw.

With Old Man Lancelot leading the way, it didn’t take long for us to arrive at our destination.

Only when we did, everyone looked confused since there was nothing here.

He had led us deeper into the forest and then just suddenly stopped while we were still in the middle of the forest. There was nothing here that showed that this part of the forest was any different from where we had been previously.

So it was only normal that everyone was confused as to what Old Man Lancelot wanted from us.

"It’s time for you to go on the hunt."

They looked even more confused when they heard this.

However, there were a few of us that couldn’t help revealing wry smiles.

We knew what he was planning to do with these students and it seemed a bit cruel to push them forward like this. But since he was doing this, it should mean that he had some faith in them.

As for what would happen, that was all up to the students.

Seeing that they didn’t say anything, Old Man Lancelot just turned to leave.

There were those that wanted to follow him, but he quickly disappeared from sight the moment that he took his third step. He had even used the power of his relic to increase his speed so that they wouldn’t be able to follow him.

Seeing this, the rest of us did the same as we disappeared from the sight of these students.

Though for some of the teachers that were here, they didn’t have an ability that would let them disappear without a trace. Which was why I stepped in and created a mist that helped them disappear from sight.

When the students found that all of the teachers were gone, they looked at each other as if they didn’t know what to do.

It wasn’t as if they wouldn’t be able to find their way back to the camp since there were those that had kept record of the path. Not to mention that there were those that could have followed their own tracks back.

But it didn’t seem right to just head back like this.

If Old Man Lancelot brought them out like this, then there should be a reason for him leaving them all here without saying anything else.

In the end, they slowly started to move away from this spot.

While they didn’t know what it was that Old Man Lancelot had in mind when he brought them here, they did at least know that he most likely wanted them to at least try fighting the monsters that were here.

So they broke off into groups and started wandering around, looking for monsters to fight.

It was just that when they tried looking for monsters, they found that the monsters were running away from them.

It was something that was convenient earlier, but now that they were actually looking for monsters and the monsters were running away...

"Spread out and surround them so that they can’t run."

They had to actually use their intelligence to trap the monsters that were trying to avoid them. Once they did, they also had to fight the monsters that didn’t hold back at all as they attempted to escape.

A cornered beast really fought with everything that it had and this was the best way to describe these monsters when they were surrounded.

But it wasn’t as if this was a bad thing.

With how desperate the monsters fought, they used all kinds of different methods that the students hadn’t seen before.

With how desperate the monsters were, it really felt like a fight to the death.

Though it wasn’t as if any of the students pitied the monsters since they were monsters in the first place.

If they weren’t trapped like this, they would have no doubt been fierce monsters that wouldn’t have hesitated to attack normal people. Monsters like this were a plague, so it was only right that they would clear them out.

"Is this really all that you wanted to teach them?"

I could see that they were learning from the experience of fighting the monsters, but it seemed a bit too simple. This didn’t seem like it would be a proper lesson with the level that these monsters were at.

Old Man Lancelot didn’t say anything when I asked this question, all he did was suddenly reveal a smile as if he had noticed something amusing.

I looked back down at the students that we were following, but it didn’t seem like there was anything that had changed with them.

That was until there was a crack that formed in the ground.

"This is...Did you plan this?"
