"How dare you dodge out of the way!"
"Why is it so slippery?"
"How did I miss? I was aiming right at it!"
Though the things that they said were different, what they said had the same basic meaning.
They were all surprised that they weren’t able to hit the goblins in front of them.
For these relic users that had their basic physiques improved by the relics, they were much stronger and faster than most soldiers. It should have been easy for them to deal with these goblins.
However, it wasn’t as if they had been soldiers in the first place.
There were many of them that had just been normal people before they were able to connect to a relic.
They had never been trained to fight like soldiers had been, so there were many things that they didn’t know how to do.
So it didn’t matter if they were stronger than normal people, they just simply didn’t have the experience that was needed to use that power.
Some of this had already been taught to them while they had been learning how to use the relics, but it wasn’t as if just teaching them this alone was enough. Sometimes one needed to experience actual combat to properly learn from their experience.
Which was why Old Man Lancelot had prepared all of this.
It was better to practice against these monsters in this controlled environment instead of facing those dangerous corruption energy monsters. But at the same time, it wasn’t as if this place was safe enough that they would be coddled.
Old Man Lancelot and the teachers were only planning on interfering if they were truly in danger.
Watching them fight the monsters like this, I couldn’t help feeling that I had completely overestimated the relic users.
I thought that it would be enough to train them with a few techniques and teach them how to use their relics. But now I was certain that this alone wouldn’t have been enough since they wouldn’t know how to apply it.
There were even some that were nervous since it was their first time experiencing real combat.
I thought that since I could do it, it meant that everyone would be able to do it.
But this was far from the truth.
"Old Man Lancelot really is a good teacher, he considers all these different things for his students." There was a part of me that couldn’t help feeling that it was a bit of a shame that I never had him teach me anything.
Perhaps he wouldn’t be able to teach me when it came to using the divine energy relic, but there were certainly things that he would be able to teach me.
It was just that when I had asked him previously, he had rejected me since he didn’t feel like there was anything that he could teach me.
I wasn’t someone that would force others to become my teacher anyway.
It still felt like it was a shame that I couldn’t learn from him.
Eventually, it seemed like they were getting more and more used to fighting against the monsters that were in front of them. Though it was hard for them not to get better when everything was controlled like this.
They were in an environment that was designed for them to grow.
Old Man Lancelot in particular really was good at controlling when he interfered, maximizing the experience gained from this training.
However, it wasn’t as if everyone was able to succeed.
There were those that progressed slower than the others.
They still progressed, but it wasn’t as if they were as fast as the others.
"It’s a matter of talent." I couldn’t help letting out a sigh when I saw this.
Even if they had all been chosen by the relics, it was all because of their different talents. It wasn’t as if everyone would have talent that was related to fighting, there were many different forms of talent out there.
Which was why there were those that learned how to fight more slowly than the others.
Unless they learned how to use those other talents with their relics, it wasn’t as if they would be able to grow quickly.
The fact that they were even growing was a testament to how good of a teacher Old Man Lancelot was.
"Alright, it’s time to go back and relax."
When night started to fall, Old Man Lancelot called out to stop the students that were still sparring with the monsters.
After what happened, it seemed like they wanted to keep going and train more with the monsters. It was as if they had already forgotten about how they had suffered at first and were even enjoying it now.
But they still followed Old Man Lancelot’s orders.
That was because the moment that they stopped, they could feel the exhaustion that hit them.
This was a wave of exhaustion that suddenly came over them when they stopped, showing just how tired they were from this one day of training. Though it was quite a long training session and they had been fighting for several hours.
It was normal that they would be tired like this.
Back at the camp, it didn’t seem like there was any semblance of vigilance with how they even started singing around the campfire.
Though it wasn’t as if that was a problem with how the monsters were avoiding them in the first place. Even if they didn’t have their guards up, it wasn’t as if the monsters would have approached.
Even when night fell, the monsters that came out that were supposed to be more dangerous than the monsters that came out during the day wouldn’t approach this camp.
It seemed like they were still afraid of the divine energy that the relic users released.
With how relaxed they were, I couldn’t help shaking my head with a wry smile once more.
"It really does seem like they’re on some kind of school trip rather than a training session."
