The protagonist pushed Hans and two others to their limits, forcing them to fight monsters to awaken their potential and discover the source of a familiar feeling. Though initially puzzled about their identities, he realized they might be ordinary NPCs who developed unique abilities in this altered world. After the trio defeated a high troll by combining their powers and learning new techniques, the protagonist declared their training complete, announcing a final test to help them achieve their goals and return home.

"Just follow me, I’ll take you to a good place."

The three of them couldn’t help looking skeptical, but they still followed me in the end.

This was going to be my way of making it up to the three of them.

...

"Master, are you sure about this?"

The voices of the three were even trembling when they said this.

After all, the thing that was in front of them was just too terrifying for them to have any confidence in front of. They knew that if they were to fight this thing, it really would be a fight with their lives on the line.

"With me here, is there anything to worry about? I’ll take care of it if you’re in danger." I said with a confident smile.

The three of them couldn’t help looking at me with strange looks when they heard this.

I knew exactly what they were thinking, but I didn’t bother explaining anything to them.

Instead, I just said, "If you do this, you’ll be able to solve the problems you have back home. I can promise that."

This time, the expressions on the faces of the three became a bit somber and much more serious. They didn’t doubt that I knew what I was talking about, they just wondered if this was true.

But in the end, the three of them chose to believe me.

"I guess this is part of why they would have this power. At the very least, they have the courage to go all the way."

However, I couldn’t help asking myself in a slightly confused voice, "What kind of problems could they even be facing at home?"

I wasn’t worried that they would be able to solve the problems once this was over since they would have more than enough power to solve it. But at the same time, it wasn’t as if I was just going to ignore them.

When the time came, I would reach out and give them a push from behind.

It was their reward for putting up with my probing from earlier.

Watching them charge the Salamander in front of them, I knew exactly what they were thinking. They didn’t dare face this Salamander head on since they had long heard about the power that this Salamander possessed.

But I wasn’t going to let them take it easy either.

"Boom."

When the Salamander looked up, it saw the bitter smiles on the faces of these three.

It wasn’t any of these three that had attacked the Salamander just now, rather it was me that had shot a fireball at it.

Shooting a fireball at a Salamander that controlled flames was considered a useless move, but it wasn’t as if I did that to harm the Salamander.

Rather, the reason that I had shot this fireball in the first place was because I wanted to get its attention.

The three that didn’t want to attract this Salamander’s attention had no choice but to fight head on now because I had drawn its attention.

Because of that, it was only natural that they would feel a bit bitter about this.

For the first time, there was regret over choosing to follow such a person as a master.

"Go around, I’ll take care of distracting it until everyone is in position."

I gave a nod of praise when I heard Hans’ order.

The lessons that I had been giving them hadn’t gone to waste, they were able to figure out things like this on their own now. In which case, there wasn’t anything for me to do since they were able to fight on their own.

It was just that this wasn’t enough.

This Salamander was on a completely different level from the normal monsters that they had fought until now. After all, this Salamander was the hidden boss of this area.

If they wanted to actually do anything to the Salamander, they would need more tricks than this.

Of course, the three of them knew that this was the case which was why this wasn’t all that they had up their sleeves.

Once they were all in position, they used the formation that they developed during their fights with the monsters. It was the adaptation that they came up with when they knew that they couldn’t face the monsters head on.

However, it didn’t seem like it was having an effect on the Salamander.

The problem was that the Salamander’s skin was too thick for them to actually cut through.

The formation was working as intended as it distracted the Salamander and allowed them to land blows on it. It was just that no matter how many blows they landed, they weren’t able to actually harm it.

"I don’t believe that I can’t break through."

Hans had his pride and wasn’t broken when he saw that he wasn’t hurting it.

Instead, he actually put even more power into his swings when he saw this.

But even so, it didn’t seem like he was able to do anything to the Salamander.

That was until all of a sudden, there was a spurt of blood that came out.

"Not bad, he didn’t panic when he saw that he wasn’t hurting it. He knew that he was still doing damage, but the damage was just too small to actually harm it properly.

So that was why he accumulated this damage by swinging at the same spot again and again until it built up enough that he could break through its skin.

Seeing this, it seemed to invigorate the three of them as they focused even more on that one spot that they injured.

It was just that this also incited the Salamander to use another skill.

The Salamander had been holding back since it looked down on the three of them, but now it knew that they were a threat.

Which was why it suddenly started to be surrounded in flames like how one would think a Salamander should look.
