The protagonist trapped a corrupted shark in an ice barrier. When the shark attacked, tentacles of corruption energy emerged from it and other trapped fish, but were easily destroyed by the protagonist's divine energy. Observing this, the protagonist concluded it was just remnant corruption, not a deliberate plot. Another corrupted shark appeared and was also trapped, confirming the protagonist's suspicion that these were mere remnants.

As I continued searching this place, I found that there wasn’t just one or two places that had traces of the corruption energy.

The corruption energy actually spread quite far, taking up quite a bit of the land.

Not only that, it seemed like they were trying to spread as much as they could.

With how they kept spreading from creature to creature, it really seemed like they were trying to breed as much corruption energy as they could.

"So they’re trying to rebuild their forces?"

Thinking of how much corruption energy had been spent when War invaded the continent, it did make sense that the forces of Destruction would want to rebuild their forces by propagating like this.

Not to mention that in a place like this, it wasn’t as if they would be noticed.

There were many places under the ocean that weren’t being watched by the racial alliance, so there were many places that could be considered blind spots.

Even if I discovered it now, it wasn’t as if there was much that the racial alliance could have done since there were just too many places that needed to be watched and not enough people.

Even if I reported this back, it wasn’t as if they would be able to send people here to clear out all of the traces of corruption energy in this place.

But I also knew that there was no point in doing something like this.

"With the rate of propagation in this place, it isn’t as if they would be able to generate that much corruption energy in the first place."

It was minimal spreading that was happening by having the fishes infected by corruption energy attacking each other. It wasn’t as if they were polluting the water itself and with how small the fish were, it really was a small amount of corruption energy being formed.

Even if the predators were big, they were small compared to something like the ocean.

They were literally a drop in the ocean.

"It doesn’t make any sense that they would be using such slow methods. They should know that we’re getting stronger and stronger as time passes, so it isn’t as if this will help them in the long run. We’ll surpass them in the amount of time that they need to recover."

The more that I thought about it, the more confused I was about all of this.

Unless they were confident that they would be able to generate corruption energy faster than we could recover, it would be impossible for them to actually surpass us with this method.

There had to be more to this...

So instead of attacking the next carrier of corruption energy that I found, I waited to see where it would lead me.

Once it was done infecting the surrounding fish, this shark turned around and headed in a certain direction. But it wasn’t as if I could just leave the corrupted fish that it left behind be.

Which was why I created a delayed zone of divine energy around it before following the shark.

This shark led me to a place that caught me off guard.

After all, this place clearly wasn’t just any normal facility.

This was a place that had a pillar of corruption energy sticking out of the ground.

The shark hadn’t completely left everything that it had infected be, it had brought back one of the sharks that it had hunted and dropped it into the pillar of corruption energy.

Once that shark corpse was dropped in, the corruption energy pillar released corruption energy that surged into the shark corpse.

As the corruption energy entered the shark corpse, I could feel that the shark corpse was regaining a bit of lifeforce.

Seeing this, it wasn’t hard to guess what was happening.

"It is a breeding base, but it’s actually on a different level from what I thought. It’s a self sustaining base that will keep creating more and more drones to gather corruption energy."

This was an exponential model where the rate of growth would eventually skyrocket.

Since I figured this out, it wasn’t as if I could just allow this corruption energy pillar to continue to exist.

But there was one more thing that I had to figure out.

"Who is it that created this pillar?"

Or at the very least, I wanted to figure out who it was that was maintaining this pillar.

Even if I destroyed this pillar, it wasn’t as if this would stop them from creating this pillar somewhere else.

So that was why it was necessary to find who it was that created this pillar.

But even after waiting three days, I wasn’t able to figure out anything.

I had even attacked it once to see if it would trigger some kind of defense mechanism.

"They just don’t care about this. This is something that they created to gather corruption energy, but they don’t care if it’s destroyed."

This made things much more difficult since it meant that I couldn’t trace this pillar back to its creator.

At the same time, I knew that this pillar wouldn’t be the only one out there.

If they had one, then they would have others out there as well.

This was something that had to be reported back to the racial alliance so they could send out scouts to find these corruption energy pillars.

If they were putting them in the ocean like this, I did have an idea of where other corruption energy pillars could be hidden.

A single strike was all that it took to destroy this corruption energy pillar which made it even more concerning.

It didn’t seem to take much to create if it could be destroyed with just a single strike. This meant that this was something that could be easily created and easily spread...

"This is even more troublesome than I thought it would be..."

But it wasn’t as if there was anything that I could do about it.
