The protagonist used a strange ritualistic dance to spread his divine energy and track down a young boss. Despite the confusion of those around him, the protagonist followed his intuition to an alley and then a building. A royal guard leader covered for the protagonist's unusual behavior by calling it a divination technique, though others remained skeptical. After the protagonist identified the building, the guards surrounded it. When they attempted to approach the door, the protagonist threw a spear, triggering an explosive trap and revealing a dangerous ambush.

Since they were soldiers that served in the army, the special forces, and the royal guards, it was only natural that they would be able to do this.

It was only low level magic, but it was enough when they combined it together.

If this was land, then it would have been easier since they would be able to throw in some kind of smoke pouch to fill up the house. Once the house was filled, it would be very hard for whoever was inside to remain in there.

But under the water, it was hard since smoke wouldn’t actually last in the water.

Instead, there was something else that they used.

With all of the low level water spells that they cast, there was this bubble that formed around this house.

This bubble completely isolated this house from the rest of the ocean, creating what seemed to be an isolated environment.

After this bubble formed, the soldiers brought something forward that they let pass into the bubble. This thing seemed to be a living creature that turned around and released some kind of liquid.

Once that liquid was released, it quickly spread out in the water around it.

If the bubble hadn’t been formed, then it would have spread in all directions. But since there was that bubble there, the liquid that was released by this creature was only spreading towards the house.

However, just this creature alone was far from being enough to fill this entire bubble.

Which was why they released several more of these creatures into the bubble and they all started releasing this liquid. It didn’t take long for the liquid to spread far enough that it was seeping into the house.

With how smooth they did this, it was clear that this was something that they had practiced before.

When developing in different environments, it was only natural that different solutions would be thought of. In this case, this was a solution that was thought of by those that were used to fighting under the water.

Though looking at them, I couldn’t help feeling that it would have been far more efficient if I did it.

I could have done the same thing with my water magic.

In fact, I could have even used my water magic to directly pull whoever was inside of the building out.

But that was just the difference when it came to mana levels.

Even if mermaids had natural water magic because of their racial features, it wasn’t as if they had large mana pools to sustain it.

After a while, it seemed like there was finally a reaction that came from the house.

Out of the blown doorway that was missing a door, there were several people that ran out while covering their faces. However, one could see that there was a bit of discolouration on their bodies from the liquid that had been released into the bubble.

Even if they were covering themselves, it didn’t matter if they were surrounded by this poison.

As soon as they came out, there were spears that were thrown in their direction. However, none of these spears were actually aimed at the people that came out of the house.

Instead, these spears were aimed to the side of these people.

That was because these spears had ropes attached to them that quickly bound these people that ran out of the house. There wasn’t anything that they could do to protect themselves since they were still trying to get rid of the poison that they were covered in.

Once they were tied up like this, the water started draining away from the bubble.

This water was placed inside of special containment units since it wasn’t as if they could just be released into the ocean. The way that they quickly gathered up all of the poisonous water showed that they were very familiar with this.

Those that lived under the water really knew best how to fight here.

With the water drained away, the mermaids that came out flopped onto the patch of land that had been cleared out in this area.

It didn’t seem like they were able to do anything with the poison affecting them, but no one let their guard down. They quickly surrounded these criminals and then took them into custody.

As they removed their hands from their faces, I saw the face that I was familiar with.

Seeing this young boss, I couldn’t help revealing a faint smile.

After all, I could guess why he did all of this based on what had just happened.

He was someone that was quite cautious if he had set up all of those traps in the house. If it wasn’t for the fact that I had stopped them from charging the house like that, then some people really might have been hurt.

At the same time, there really was no telling what could have been hidden in this house.

I knew that if it wasn’t for the fact that they had used this final resort that they clearly didn’t want to use, then it might have been dangerous. This poison was something that could easily cause a mishap if it wasn’t handled properly, so it wasn’t something that they used that easily.

So there was no doubt that this young boss ran after feeling that something was off about me.

I couldn’t help wondering if he was lucky or unlucky because of this.

He was lucky that he got away, but he was unlucky that he caused this kind of response.

But he was also lucky that he didn’t lose his life since I had seen the casualty report from the raids.

At the same time, he was unlucky that he had to suffer through this since he had been soaked in this poison.

While I was thinking this, I was pulled out of my thoughts by someone suddenly shouting.

"That’s him! He’s the corrupt cop that contacted me! I’ll testify against him!"
