Despite a successful raid, a young boss has escaped and is now the target of a capital-wide manhunt. The protagonist, a detective, is unexpectedly assigned to the operation, much to the surprise of the assembled elites. He recognizes the fugitive as a past acquaintance and suspects his own actions may have tipped off the target, forcing him to confront the situation.

Since I had been put in charge of the manhunt, it meant that I did have to show a bit of my power.

Though the way that I showed it was different from how I normally did it.

I was taken to the place that the young boss had run from and I was allowed to search the area to see if I could find any clues about where he went.

However, I didn’t search the normal way.

The strange looks that I was getting was more than enough to show that everyone was confused by my actions, but I didn’t stop as I continued performing this ’ritual’. I was moving around as if I was doing some kind of ritualistic dance.

But in reality, what I was doing was spreading my divine energy around me.

It wasn’t as if this dance didn’t have a use.

Since there were people from the army and the royal guards here, there were certainly people that had encountered divine energy before. Even if they weren’t as sensitive towards it as those that used relics, they would still be able to recognize the divine energy if they were in contact with it.

That was why I had to make sure that I avoided them with my divine energy, which honestly did take a bit of effort.

But the biggest part of the dance was that it distracted them while I spread my divine energy.

With the large movements that I made, it was a bit hard for them to ignore me. Especially since it seemed like I had gone crazy since I was gesturing with my arms like a crazy person would.

After a while, I suddenly came to a stop.

They all looked at me with the same strange look, but I just ignored them as I started moving in a certain direction. Even though they were looking at me with the same strange look, they still followed me out of the building.

I continued down this alley for a bit before suddenly coming to a stop.

Once I stopped here, I did the same thing as before where I started making those large gestures.

"Is he crazy?"

Someone finally couldn’t help asking this since they just couldn’t understand what I was doing.

Once this was said, the expressions on everyone’s faces started to change and it even seemed like they were going to start complaining about me.

But before they could do that, the representative from the royal guards suddenly said, "So that’s the special divination technique. I’ve only heard rumours of it, but seeing it for myself really is something else."

I couldn’t help giving a secret bitter laugh when I heard this since I knew that this was something that this royal guard had pulled out of their ass to try to cover for me. But I didn’t say anything as I continued dancing like a madman like this.

In the end, there wasn’t anything that anyone could say since this royal guard was technically the leader here. There was a reason why he had been in charge of the meeting for this manhunt.

He was someone that was high up in the royal guards, someone that was worthy of being respected by the others.

So if he were to say this, then they would have no choice but to accept it.

Only it was clear by the expressions on everyone’s faces that they didn’t really believe him.

I didn’t say anything as I continued walking and dancing like this until I suddenly came to a building.

"He’s in here."

"Huh?" Everyone was caught off guard when they heard this, but then looks of doubt appeared on their faces. There wasn’t a single person that really seemed to believe me when I said this.

But once again, that royal guard leader took charge by giving everyone orders to surround this house. So even if they were filled with doubt, they had no choice but to follow the orders of the leader.

It didn’t seem like they were going to find anything at first as they went to knock on the door to create a distraction.

However, I stopped them in the end as I suddenly threw a spear at the door.

Everyone looked at me as if I was crazy, but the explosion that came from the door proved that this wasn’t the case. The moment that the door exploded, everyone realized that there was a trap that had been placed at the door for anyone that approached.

If they had knocked on the door to create that distraction, then they would have been caught in that explosion.

None of the soldiers wasted any time after they saw this, they went into full combat mode at this point.

The first thing that they did was go to the vantage points of this house, looking to find a way to breach. But at the same time, they were also spreading out so that whoever was inside of the house wouldn’t be able to escape.

Then they suddenly threw spears from all directions.

There was no telling what would come from inside of the house, so they were using these spears to test the response from the house.

All of these spears hit various parts of the house, but there was only another explosion that came. This time, it came from the back door of the house.

It had been rigged with a trap similar to what was on the front door.

But other than that, it didn’t seem like there was anything else that was there.

None of the other spears that hit the house seemed to draw a reaction at all.

Even the windows seemed clear with how they shattered as soon as the spear pierced through them.

But it wasn’t as if they were naive enough to believe that this was all that there was to this place.

"Surround it and tear it down."

As soon as the royal guard leader gave this order, everyone raised their hand and gathered their mana.
