The narrator submits a report that gets the attention of higher-ups and the royal guards. Pulled into an investigation, the narrator attends a meeting where the royal guards reveal they have been planning a long-term operation to dismantle the Tide Brotherhood, a powerful criminal organization with noble connections. The guards present a list of numerous identified hideouts, indicating extensive preparation.

"Does anyone want anything? I can go get some black juice if anyone is feeling tired?"

I asked the people that were watching the warehouse in front of us with me.

After all, we had already been here for a while and we were supposed to be here for a while longer.

It would be a while before the signal for the raid came, so we had no choice but to watch and wait until then.

But it couldn’t be helped since this was an operation that spanned across multiple different cities in the Merman Kingdom. This was something that was supposed to happen at the same time, so the level of coordination that was required was on a completely different level.

When things were like this, it was only natural that it would take a while before everything was set up.

However, they made sure to deploy everyone just so no one would be able to betray them if they wanted to.

In a way, they weren’t just here to watch the Tide Brotherhood hideouts. They were also here to watch each other so that no one would have a chance to betray them.

So it really was killing two birds with one stone.

But the warehouse that we were assigned wasn’t that important.

This was just one of the backup hideouts of the Tide Brotherhood, it wasn’t even something that they used regularly.

Though that wasn’t surprising since we were just normal police officers.

Since this was a nationwide operation, it was only natural that different organizations were pulled in. Even the army had been called since there was no telling how dangerous the fighters of the Tide Brotherhood were.

It wasn’t something that was revealed in the first meeting, but in the latter meetings that were held. They had made sure to only give pieces of information to the ones that were involved so that they wouldn’t be able to leak anything.

It really went to show how important this entire operation was and how careful they had been about this.

This was something that made one wonder just how many people even knew the entire plan in the first place. With how cautious they had been, it was unlikely there would be that many people in the first place.

In the end, I wasn’t even allowed to go alone to get the black juice which was the equivalent of coffee in this underwater world.

This was a juice that was made from a special fish that would keep one awake.

It was bitter like coffee, but it actually had a better effect than coffee since it instantly made one alert and didn’t leave any side effects.

From what I had been able to deduce, it was something that was inside of the black juice itself that was causing this effect, but I didn’t know what it was exactly. So the only thing that I could do was chalk it up to being something from a fantasy world.

When we came back, I could see that everyone was more tense than before.

"What did we miss?"

"We just received orders to prepare ourselves. We’ll be heading in soon, so drink up while you can."

I was a bit surprised since it was early, but I didn’t question it since I was certain that they had their reason for this. This was something that they had planned for so long and had been so cautious about, so there had to be a reason for this.

Once the order came to breach, I followed the rest of the officers to storm the warehouse.

It wasn’t that hard to breach, it was just that we certainly didn’t expect to see...

"What are they doing here?"

I wasn’t the only one that was caught off guard by this since as far as we were concerned, this was supposed to be one of the backup hideouts.

Yet this place was filled with criminals and drugs.

After a momentary daze, there really wasn’t anything that we could do other than try to arrest these criminals. However, these were elites of the Tide Brotherhood or they wouldn’t have been in a place like this.

Since they were elites, they knew how to fight back against the officers that came at them.

But judging by how the Tide Brotherhood members were acting, it didn’t seem like they understood why we were here either. It seemed like they had been completely caught off guard by our appearance.

So that meant that the plan hadn’t been leaked to the Tide Brotherhood.

For some reason, they had come here to this backup hideout to pack these drugs up.

The only thing that we could blame this on was our own bad luck.

This place that should have been empty was conveniently filled with criminals at this time.

Seeing how things were going, I felt like I had to make a choice.

In the first place, I had been told to stay in the back since I was just a rookie in our squad. It wasn’t that they were looking out for me, it was just that they didn’t want me to get in their way.

It meant they didn’t know what I could really do.

I didn’t want to stand out too much either since there was nothing to gain from doing this, but it didn’t seem like these officers were able to hold on much longer.

So in the end, I waved my hand and created waves of water.

They were small waves that didn’t attract much attention, but they were enough to push back some of the members of the Tide Brotherhood. But that wasn’t all that these water waves did.

They stopped some of the stronger attacks and even hit some of the Tide Brotherhood members hard.

With my control of the water, there really wasn’t anything that they could do to resist.

But eventually, they were able to figure out that something was happening.

When the tides completely turned, it was hard to miss this.
