The protagonist meets with a young boss of the Tide Brotherhood, ostensibly to propose a new business venture. The boss reveals that a previous business in the same industry recently failed and is looking to replace it, coincidentally aligning with the protagonist's proposal. After some negotiation, they agree to a 20% cut for the Brotherhood. When questioned about the failed business, the boss vaguely attributes it to 'internal trouble' that has been resolved.

The young boss really didn’t waste any time at all sending his people to finish this deal.

It only took an hour for the ones that connected me to the young boss to come looking for me to wrap this matter up.

They had already heard about the deal from the young boss and were planning on getting the exact details for the plan.

It was just that what they didn’t expect was that I had something else waiting for them.

"What are you doing?"

They cried out in pain and shock, but there was no stopping my fists at all from knocking them out. When they woke up, they found that they were chained up in some strange basement.

After a moment of panic, they looked up at me standing in front of them and angrily shouted at me to let them go.

I just ignored them until they finally calmed down.

One of these thugs took the initiative for the others as he asked, "Why are you doing this? Do you know what the consequences of doing something like this are?"

"Pa."

All that came in response was a slap across the face.

When he had been slapped like this, the thug didn’t even know how to respond since this was his first time being treated like this. He never thought that he would be slapped across the face like this.

In fact, he was so caught off guard that his expression became frozen as if he didn’t know how to react. It was only after a while that he was finally able to process what had happened.

Though when he came back to his senses, it seemed like he was about to lose his temper.

"Pa."

Another slap was all that he received for losing his temper like this.

It wasn’t as if I had a reason to go along with what he wanted to do, so the only thing that he received was a reminder.

"Now, you’re going to tell me what I want to know or else."

There was a part of me that couldn’t help feeling satisfied after saying this. This was something that I always wanted to say, but I never had the chance to actually say it.

Now that this chance was given to me, I definitely wasn’t going to let it go to waste.

But it didn’t seem like they were taking me seriously.

In fact, it seemed like they still thought that I would eventually release them because of who was behind them.

It was understandable that they would feel this way since the one that was behind them was the largest underground organization in the Merman Kingdom. Even if the other side was a noble, they wouldn’t really be scared since their backers would handle it.

So that was why I knew that I had to prove to them that there really wasn’t anything that would save them now.

When they didn’t say anything, I just calmly took out a knife and stabbed it into the one that I had slapped. The moment that the knife plunged into the chest of this person, there was blood that spurted out.

This blood didn’t just spray all over this person, it also went all over the others that were tied up near him.

All of them had looks of disbelief on their faces, as if they couldn’t understand what had just happened. They never would have thought that I would stab someone right in front of them like this.

But the blood that splashed on them wasn’t a lie, even if they wanted it to be.

After stabbing that person, I turned to the others and said, "Alright, who’s next?"

All of them trembled when they saw me raise this bloody knife up in front of them.

Once that fear sunk in, it seemed like their final line of defense had been breached.

It wasn’t as if they could keep this facade up when death was imminent.

Even if they had a powerful backer behind them, they really couldn’t do anything if they were going to be stabbed right now. So it was better to go along with whatever this madman wanted right now and think about taking revenge later.

As soon as that final line of defense was broken, everything started pouring out like the flood gates were opened.

It didn’t matter how they reacted when I asked the questions, they answered every single question that I posed them.

When I was done, I couldn’t help feeling a bit disappointed.

After all, it seemed like the answer to the case was much simpler than I thought.

"It turned out that it was just a drug deal gone wrong..."

The blood that had been splattered all over the crime scene was actually the blood of the ones that had been caught up in the deal gone wrong.

In fact, a few of these thugs that I had caught were actually the ones that had caused that scene.

I already knew that this young boss was most likely related to the crime, but I never thought that he was the direct cause. After all, he was the one that had been trying to squeeze those dealers which resulted in them fighting back.

If I had actually gone into business with him, there was no telling when I would have become the next bloodstained room. Though in reality, it wasn’t as if they would have been able to do anything to me.

Now the only thing that I had to consider was...

"This is without a doubt a large scale drug dealing ring, which means that there will be a follow up to this. It might even become a large scale operation because of how deep this runs."

If that were to happen, it would no doubt be considered a large problem like the royal guard captain was afraid of.

But in the end, the decision that I came to was, "It’s not my problem, it’s the problem of the police force. They’re the ones that will follow up on this."
