The protagonist impressed his colleagues with his superior paperwork skills, leading to his assignment of a cold case. Despite facing skepticism and resentment, he investigated the crime scene, a place covered in an extraordinary amount of blood. Unable to find clues with his eyes, he created a domain to safely use his divine energy, eventually discovering something hidden beneath the blood, though it proved disappointing.

"It’s too small to be an actual clue, but it should lead to something..."

This was something that seemed to be some kind of button.

Though when I looked at it closely, I could see that there were strange marks that were on this thing that showed that it wasn’t just a button.

It seemed to be some kind of identification as well with how intricate the marks on this thing was.

Only I had no idea what this was for.

Other than this small thing, I couldn’t find a single thing useful.

With a sigh, I said, "I guess I’ll have to pay a visit to an acquaintance."

I never thought that I would be meeting them again this soon, but they were the only ones that I knew that had this knowledge. It wasn’t as if I could start busting the underworld just to get this knowledge.

The officers that were waiting outside didn’t seem like they expected anything from me since they had already seen the inside of the crime scene.

I didn’t mind it either as I headed to a place that no one would have expected. Though to get to that place, I had to go through a certain channel.

"Why do you want to see them?" The royal guard captain asked me this.

This place was the dungeon of the royal castle, a place that normal criminals would never see. One had to really do something bad if they wanted to be locked in this place.

The ones that I came to see were a recent addition to this dungeon.

"I just want to ask them a few things." I said in a calm voice.

The royal guard captain looked at me with one brow raised, but he didn’t question what I said. He just went forward to open the door to the cell.

This cell was a special one where it was completely left in darkness to torture the ones imprisoned here. Which was why there were winces of pain the moment that this door opened.

After I walked in, I could see the changes in the expressions in front of me. Not a single person in here was happy to see me, but that wasn’t strange since I was the one that had sent them here in the first place.

I just ignored those eyes filled with hostility and moved towards a certain person.

This person was looking at me with the same hostile look, but there was a trace of fear in his eyes as well. After all, the last time that we had been face to face, he had been hit with a spear in the back.

That spear had been thrown with such force that he had been picked up off the ground and slammed into the wall. That kind of experience was without a doubt something that could induce PTSD.

"Long time no see." I said with a smile on my face.

Seeing this, it really seemed like he wanted to rip me apart. Though that wasn’t possible since they were all restrained in this place.

"So I want some information." I said with the same calm smile, but there was a different reaction that came from this person.

This person was smart, or else he wouldn’t have been able to become the boss of that gambling den that had so many backers.

The closure of that gambling den had a large effect on the entire Merman Kingdom. After all, the level of corruption there had even surpassed the level of what was normally expected.

It was something that could only be done with the cunning of this boss.

But at the same time, it meant that this boss had quite a few connections in both the underworld and the overworld.

That was what I was planning to draw on.

After a long moment of silence, he slowly said, "What’s in it for me?"

"Your life." When his face twisted from this, I just looked right back at him with a calm smile.

"Ha, ha, ha." The boss burst out in laughter, but there wasn’t any amusement in his voice. Rather there was even spite and taunting, as if he was laughing at me.

I didn’t mind this as I looked at him and said, "Sometimes living is worse than death."

As I said this, my voice turned colder and I raised my hand towards him.

The laughter of the boss was suddenly cut off as he looked at me with a wary gaze. But that wasn’t the end of it as there was something that was stirring between his legs.

When he looked down, his expression immediately fell and he said, "You wouldn’t dare."

But in response to this, I just closed the blades.

In between his legs were a pair of scissors that were made of water. Though they were made of water, there was no doubting the sharpness of the blades.

Just the vibration alone was enough to cut something, much less the blade itself. After all, even water could cut diamonds if it was used properly.

"It’s not just this alone. I can think of all kinds of different things that will make living much worse than dying." Though there was a smile on my face, this smile didn’t actually reach my eyes.

At first, it seemed like the boss wanted to act tough. Only it didn’t matter how he acted, I just looked back at him with the same smile on my face.

Slowly his expression crumbled until he finally couldn’t act tough anymore. The only thing that he could do was let out a desperate sigh.

"What do you want to know?" The resignation in his voice was as if he recognized that this was a greater villain than him.

I didn’t say anything as I took out the button for him to see.

The moment that he saw this, the boss exclaimed in a shocked voice, "The Tide Brotherhood? You were in the Tide Brotherhood all along?"
