Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure Chapter 1971: She’s just lazy (1)

Previously on Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure...
The god’s messenger, Queenie, reveals that the entirety of Death Valley is actually a massive relic designed as a habitat for incubating her insect colony. Despite lingering suspicions that he is being lured into a trap, the protagonist agrees to travel to the core of the valley to claim ownership of the relic. Guided by a group of elite insect guards, he begins his descent into the heart of the hive while Queenie remains behind to oversee her subjects.

Guided by the elite guards, our group began to penetrate deeper into the facility.

The descent was obvious due to the tunnel's sharp downward incline. It served as a clear indicator that we were plunging further into the depths of the earth.

It was evident that wherever the relic was being kept, it sat at the very heart of this underground complex.

However, moving through the halls in total silence felt incredibly awkward.

Ever since our encounter with the god’s messenger, both Klein and the royal guards had remained tight-lipped.

It appeared they harbored the same doubts as I did and were bracing for a sudden confrontation. Their hands never left their weapons, remaining poised to strike the moment a fight broke out.

Despite their readiness, the elite guards did nothing but lead us forward.

Their wariness was understandable, given how many things felt out of place in this environment.

Yet, the most significant piece of the puzzle still eluded me.

At the very least, I couldn't detect a single trace of corruption energy within these walls.

It took a considerable amount of time before we finally reached the destination Queenie had described.

I was certain we had arrived because I could feel the divine energy radiating from up ahead. Only a relic could emit such a steady and potent aura of divine energy.

I found myself taken aback by the sheer volume of divine energy flowing toward me.

Such an immense concentration of power was far from ordinary.

It was a testament to the unique nature of this particular relic.

Still, a sense of unease filled me as I considered the relic's purpose. For a deity to invest this much divine energy into a gift for a messenger...

It demonstrated the incredible value Insectum, the God of Insects, placed on Queenie.

I simply couldn't fathom the reason why.

Upon reaching the chamber housing the relic, the elite guards halted abruptly and turned to face Klein and the royal guards. Their posture made it clear: the others were not permitted to go any further.

Naturally, Klein and the royal guards were hesitant to comply, as their primary duty was to ensure my safety.

Protecting me would be nearly impossible if we were separated.

It looked as though they were prepared to force their way in, even if it meant engaging the elite guards in combat.

I stepped in to stop them, wanting to avoid a needless skirmish.

Klein gave me a look that pleaded with me to reconsider, but I met his gaze with an expression that said, "Trust me."

Ultimately, they agreed to wait outside for my return.

The elite guards also remained outside rather than following me in. It seemed their intention was to keep a close eye on Klein and the royal guards.

This arrangement was suspicious and only heightened the guards' vigilance, but I gave them another look to keep them calm.

While the reason for me entering alone was unclear, I was fully prepared to defend myself if things took a turn for the worse.

Fortunately, the situation did not escalate.

"I wished to speak with you in private. Please forgive me if I caused you any alarm, but that messenger of mine isn't exactly the most dependable sort."

I was startled to find that the voice was originating from a tiny spider perched on a pedestal. Beside it lay what appeared to be a bracelet, though I knew it was far from ordinary given the divine energy it pulsed with.

Before I could focus on the bracelet, my curiosity was piqued by the spider itself.

It wasn't a typical insect since it possessed the ability to speak, yet I realized the voice wasn't truly its own. This was just a common spider, devoid of any innate special intelligence or power.

Sensing the divine energy within the creature, I realized it was being possessed.

"Is this thing the actual messenger while the one I met before was a fraud?" I asked, my brow furrowed in confusion.

"No, no, Queenie is indeed my messenger..." The voice carried a peculiar tone, and after a brief pause, it continued with a sigh, "It's just that she is... unique. To put it plainly, she is quite lazy."

I couldn't help but give the spider a skeptical look, but there was a pressing question I had to ask. "How are you even inhabiting this spider right now? If you can communicate directly through insects, why do you even require a messenger like her?"

"My situation is unique because I am the God of Insects. I assume you have encountered the God of Tides and witnessed their specific circumstances. My situation is similar, though my requirements differ slightly."

I continued to stare at the spider with a bewildered expression.

Seeing my confusion, the spider explained, "As my messenger, Queenie has been bestowed with my power. This allows her to generate and command vast numbers of insects. However, because they are born from the power I gave her, they remain an extension of that power. Consequently, I can take control of any insect she creates. The drawback is that I cannot remain for long, as these aren't suitable vessels. To descend for an extended period, I must use her body, as she is the most compatible vessel for me."
