The group entered a bizarre alien dimension, facing strange creatures and a harsh environment. They used advanced technology to evade threats and began extracting valuable crystals. However, their operation was interrupted by a massive Titan-Class Mutant, pushing them to their limits as Gabriel became obsessed with godhood.

Everything became far more intense as a gigantic creature suddenly emerged from underground, spreading pure panic and chaos across the entire team of Awakened.

"Gabriel! We have to fall back immediately! This is a Titan-Class Mutant! We cannot deal with this thing!"

"A-Another minute! Just buy me another minute and I’ll get us all out of here! With this...! With this we can build dozens of vessels and travel the stars! We will be... we will become gods!"

Everyone looked at him as if he had completely lost his mind. Yet the moment he spoke those final words — that they would become gods — something dark awakened within them.

Their selfishness, their greed, and their raw human nature flared brightly. They all turned and attacked the massive creature with renewed fury.

Giant tentacles constantly swept them away like insects, but the Awakened kept standing back up and desperately defending the giant extraction machine as it continued to pull more and more of the valuable resource from the ground.

The Titan-Class Mutant took a heavy step backward as the earth trembled beneath it. From the enormous hole where it had emerged, dozens of smaller beings began pouring out.

"It brought an entire army of Humanoid-Class Mutants! Beware!" a tall black man with long dreadlocks shouted. He swung a giant hammer with tremendous force and sent several of the creatures flying. "Clair! Natalie! Clark! All of you come help me right now!"

They charged forward without hesitation. I continued following Lolth as she swung her scythe with desperate strength. She was clearly exhausted. Blood streamed from her nose while she frantically swallowed strange pills to restore her fading lifeforce and keep swinging her weapon with even sharper precision.

she gasped for breath, cutting down dozens of the smaller monsters as she spun through the air. She then collapsed to her knees. "Ugh...! There are so many of them... Gabriel...! Hurry, or else—"

"?!"

Her eyes widened in pure shock as she heard a familiar voice coming from somewhere nearby.

Amidst the swarm of Humanoid-Class Mutants, there was someone...

Someone she recognized immediately.

The figure walked toward her with slow, uneven steps. Half of its face was still recognizable as the man she once loved.

The rest had been completely mutated. Monstrous jaws, extra eyes, writhing tentacles, and additional limbs sprouted from enormous, ugly tumors that covered his reddened and distorted body. Long, twisted horns also grew from his head.

Lolth fell completely silent. Tears streamed down her face as she watched him approach.

It was truly him.

She cried out in pure horror and began running toward him just as his raptorial-like legs tensed and charged in her direction.

His tumor-ridden body began to transform further, becoming more muscular and defined in a grotesque way. A giant secondary jaw opened across his chest, complete with a long, whipping tongue, and he leaped toward her like a monstrous frog.

A giant claw slammed into the ground exactly where she had been standing. Lolth rolled away at the last second, her eyes wide with terror as she watched the giant form slowly begin walking toward her once more.

She continued crying, completely unable to believe what she was seeing.

Her husband, John...

Was still alive, just as Gabriel had claimed.

But he was no longer the same man she had known and loved.

"That’s John?!" Theia appeared behind her, quickly grabbing her shoulders and beginning to heal her wounds. "Oh my god..."

"He’s no longer John," the black-haired man said firmly while firing continuous shots at the advancing monster. "Clair, don’t go to him! He’s not himself anymore!"

"S-Shut up!!!" she screamed through her tears as she forced herself back to her feet. "He’s my... the love of my life! How could I ever abandon him...! John! John!" She continued crying out his name, but Theia and the other man held her back with all their strength to stop her from running toward her mutated husband.

he kept calling her name even as the bullets forced him backward.

Lolth screamed with bloody tears pouring down her face. Then she heard the giant machine behind them finally powering up. Everyone immediately dropped what they were doing and began running toward it.

"It’s done! Let’s get out of here! Hurry! Clair!" Gabriel called out to her urgently.

She ran toward him with desperate hope. "Gabriel! John’s alive! He’s still alive!"

"Wait, really? Where is he?!" Gabriel asked, pretending surprise.

"Over there!" Lolth smiled through her tears and pointed toward the monster that John had become as it slowly crawled in their direction.

"..." Gabriel’s eyes widened for only a brief moment before they sharpened with cold resolve. He immediately aimed the machine’s main cannon and fired without hesitation. "That’s no longer John, Clair. Get inside."

A mechanical robotic arm suddenly grabbed her against her will and pulled her forcibly into the machine.

"You don’t have to see this," Gabriel said quietly as he shut the metal curtains over the windows. And then...

A massive explosion echoed in the distance behind them.

"..."

Lolth gasped as her heart began beating faster and faster. The terrible truth of what had just happened started to consume her with overwhelming grief.

Theia and the others held her tightly to stop her from escaping as the giant machine began walking away as quickly as possible. Using its newly acquired fuel, it lifted off the ground and flew rapidly back toward the Gate... returning them all safely to Earth.

Technically, the entire mission had been a successful incursion. They had obtained all the fuel they wanted, and every member of the team had survived... some in better condition than others.

But...

Clair, after that day, was never the same person again.

It was clear in her now-empty eyes. The innocence she had once possessed, along with her previous naivety, had completely faded away. In their place remained only a dark mixture of hatred, profound sorrow, and utter disbelief.
