In my dragon form I truly felt invincible. Even as my mother and the rest of the group began to annoy me by repeatedly saying I should go back to normal, I wanted this powerful new shape to become my permanent state.

I felt enormous, towering high above everyone else around me. The ground seemed so far away, and the air itself felt lighter under my massive wings. Strength surged through every scale and muscle. What was there not to love about this feeling?

"D-Dear? How about you turn back to your original form for now?" my mother asked carefully, her voice carrying a mix of worry and gentle persuasion.

"Eh? But why! I like this...!" I smiled widely, showing rows of sharp teeth. "I am finally bigger than everyone! Bwahahahahaha!"

I laughed almost boisterously. The sound rolled across the mountains like thunder, and fresh waves of flames continued to spread from my mouth and claws. In that moment I felt completely free, overwhelmingly strong, deeply prideful, and utterly unbeatable.

This was what it truly felt like to be a dragon.

My entire brain chemistry had changed in an instant. Thoughts that once belonged to a careful young girl now burned with pure draconic arrogance and the simple desire to dominate everything in sight.

My grandpa suddenly appeared above my head without any warning and tapped my forehead with two fingers.

In a single second an explosion of white steam erupted around me. My entire body shrank rapidly, scales vanishing and wings folding away until I suddenly became as small as I had been before the transformation!

My grandpa was now holding me by the nape of my neck like I was a little kitten.

"Grandpa! What are you doing?!" I shouted angrily, kicking my legs in the air.

"Turning into a dragon without proper practice and understanding? Do you plan to become a rampaging beast?" he reprimanded me in a firm but calm voice. "That power is amazing, yes, but it is dangerous! Didn’t you feel how you changed? You were acting completely unlike your usual self!"

"Eh? Ah!" My eyes widened as the strange haze began to clear from my mind. "R-Right... What happened?" I felt strange and deeply disoriented, as if I had just woken from a fever dream.

"I’m sorry about this," Alice said as she appeared by my side with a concerned expression. "I guess we cannot let her turn into a dragon on her own. It would be better if Ignatius was part of the transformation, but he’s not strong enough yet."

"I see. Indeed, like young Aquarina, such large forms can be controlled better when there are multiple minds working as one," my grandfather agreed with a thoughtful nod.

"Grandpa, what did you do to my dragon form?!" I asked, still angry but also a little frightened by how easily he had shut it down.

"I’ve sealed it for one hour," he answered. "It’s as much as I can do, honestly. The power is incredibly strong. Think carefully about what just happened and reconsider, alright?"

He placed me gently down on the stone bridge. My mom and dad immediately pulled me into a tight hug from both sides.

"Sylphy, don’t turn into a dragon forever!" my dad cried, his voice full of relief and leftover panic.

"I’m glad you’re alright, but don’t do that without thinking twice!" my mother reprimanded me, though her hands still trembled slightly as she held my shoulders.

"E-Eh? Ah, s-sorry," I apologized, looking down at my normal hands. "I really had no idea it would feel this weird."

"Your entire brain chemistry was rewritten," Felicia explained as she appeared by our side, holding a small notebook she had been scribbling in. "I analyzed everything from afar and gave your grandpa a proper formula for the seal... You have to understand that dragons are known for being rampaging, reckless, and so prideful that it can easily lead to their early deaths!"

"Like... a certain guy," my dad said while looking pointedly at the Spirit of Ignatius floating in his small form next to me.

Then everyone looked at the little fire spirit, including me.

"W-Why are you looking at me like that?!" he said angrily, flames flickering around his tiny body. "I am not reckless anymore! I’ve learned my lesson—stop it already!!!"

After we all laughed it off, the tension finally eased. I sighed and felt a little better as the last traces of euphoria and adrenaline from the dragon form faded away. I began to seriously reconsider the way I had acted only minutes earlier.

Thank goodness I had not done anything worse while under that influence, or the situation would have become truly awful.

"You became super prideful!" Lara said with a bright smile. "It was funny watching you act like that!"

"Your Weredragon form already changed you a bit," Zack added, scratching the back of his head. "But that full dragon form?! It was way too much for you, Sylphy. Take it easy... You know it took me almost a year to master my Divine Bear Form, right? It’s very hard to control your ’Inner Beast.’ But now that you’ve transformed once, it’s right there inside you—a dormant monster, a reflection of yourself."

"Be careful next time," Ninhursag said while standing beside her son. She and Zack had joined us as our group began moving toward the dungeon entrance. "You should come to me for proper training. We will teach you how to control your inner beast. It is a reflection of your wild side. There is nothing wrong or bad about it, but it must be controlled so that you do not become only a beast. These forms are beneficial and bring tremendous power, but it would be pointless if we let the beast win and become something we never wanted to be, or something we once swore to destroy. The true benefit of transforming comes from combining your intelligence with the beast’s powerful body—the strength and sharp claws that most of them evolved to compensate for the lack of smarts that we smaller and weaker beings once had."

"A combination of both brains and brawn..." I muttered, letting the lesson sink in. "I see. I get it." I nodded firmly, determination returning to my eyes. "Thanks! I’ll be taking some classes with you and your mom then, Zack! Hehehe!"

"Sure!" he nodded happily, a competitive spark already lighting up his expression. "We can spar later in our beast forms. I want to test how strong I am compared to you."

"Oh? You’ve gotten way braver than you used to be, Zacky boy!" I giggled, feeling more like myself again. "Sure! Any time!"
