The formidable boss monster proved to be excessively resilient, even demonstrating the ability to neutralize my own elements, particularly fire. I quickly understood that defeating her would be no simple task.
Throughout this ordeal, I had aimed to battle solo; however, without resorting to wide-scale, destructive spells that might collapse the entire dungeon and ruin the objective, relying on my familiars became a necessity.
While Tier 9 monsters were fundamentally manageable, the gap in power between ranks within the same tier was immense. As a newly ascended Tier 9 Rank 1 cultivator, the struggle was real.
If I were to fully unleash my fury, I might finish her off, but the mountain would almost certainly crumble along with her.
Learning to compress my power was imperative. The gargantuan aura of miasma and spiritual energy she emitted utterly suppressed my flames.
Although it was an abysmal match for my capabilities, I was far from alone. My power was never strictly my own—my spirits and familiars constituted my strength, just as I served as theirs.
In this world, Heroes, Adventurers, and other seekers of power do not cultivate in solitude. They forge intricate pacts with beasts and spirits to grow stronger as a collective unit.
My parents had often cautioned that without these soul bonds—the formal contracts with powerful monster familiars and spirits—ascending to higher realms was fundamentally impossible.
My meteoric rise in power was unequivocally owed to the little companions I had gathered along the way.
They were my anchors of strength, and I was theirs.
"Let’s move!"
I roared in harmony with Armageddon and Nephilim. We charged as a trio, slamming into the Dryad while shredding through her surrounding horde of monsters.
Fighting as one entity allowed us to force the massive dryad backward, shattering her limbs and driving her into a corner with our blazing auras.
Our combined fiery and divine auras ignited her instantly. The dungeon floor, the overhead ceiling, and the walls surrounding her began to liquify as flames roared with unrestrained intensity.
The giantess shrieked, drawing in a massive breath before exhaling a gust of preternaturally cold wind. In a heartbeat, we were frozen solid into ice statues. She offered a cruel smile, swinging her rapidly regrowing appendages to smash us into shards.
However—
All three of us unleashed our Divine Domain Expansions—a sophisticated evolution of standard Domains, which themselves were an advancement of Auras. While infusing our auras into the environment created basic Domains, Divine Domain Expansions fully encased our adversary within an overlapping, alternate reality.
Three distinct barriers coincided, shattering the absolute frost and liberating us. Simultaneously, the immense pressure of our combined domains converged upon her, tearing half her physical form asunder.
An inferno of flames manifesting as monstrous insects surged forward, accompanied by a void torn between demonic darkness and celestial holy light, followed by a volcanic manifestation where giant dragons of spirit flame erupted to lay waste to her.
These were still-evolving Domain Expansions. Mine overlapped with another... a Skill.
And...
A Domain of Divine Thunder manifested, imbuing space itself with lightning that struck her relentlessly. It merged with my secondary Domain—a byproduct of Skill Fusion—to birth the Divine Void Star Dragon Domain. A massive void dragon emerged from within my aura, blanketing the area in a starry void and detonating dozens of explosive void stars.
The giantess groaned in agony, brandishing her colossal hands to summon massive icicle spears. I wielded Ruby with precision, cleaving them apart as flames, void, and thunder erupted from every strike. Concurrently, I permitted Sapphire to absorb as much incoming damage as possible before redirecting it all against her.
"Now, Sapphire!"
Sapphire shifted from dark blue to an intense crimson hue. Her dragon-head ornaments flared open, releasing a monolithic beam of concentrated energy that pierced the Dryad’s chest and shattered a portion of her Spiritual Heart.
She was sent hurtling backward, crashing through forests and stone walls, deeper into the bowels of the mountain. We gave chase without missing a beat.
Armageddon roared, morphing into a literal star of burning fire. He reached the Dryad and detonated directly in front of her as the frost giantess desperately tried to sustain her stance with cold armor.
Though she barely endured the blast, Nephilim arrived. Her Domain expanded, overriding the boss’s abilities and diluting her frost, while her twin spears—one holy, one demonic—thrust forward, riddling the giantess’s back with dozens of explosive craters.
The gargantuan boss disintegrated into countless fragments. Her inner core and Spiritual Heart were destroyed simultaneously. Armageddon’s reckless assault left a massive, scorching magma chamber in its wake, though the remainder of the dungeon held, more or less.
"Hahaha! Witness the wrath of a true spirit goddess!" Armageddon laughed with triumph. "Now—Ugh?!"
However, the fragments of the dryad—and even her shattered hearts—began to coalesce once more. Her spiritual soul persisted! It was no surprise, considering she was a spirit-type monster.
Her tainted spiritual soul, saturated with miasma, expanded in size. It absorbed the remnants and resurrected into a towering giantess composed of miasma, shadows, purple flame, and purple ice.
Vicious frost and corruption washed over Armageddon, locking her in black and dark purple ice, placing a curse upon her very essence.
"D-Damn it! What in the world is this?!"
As she struggled, Nephilim expertly drew out the darkness with her demonic spear, channeling it directly into her holy spear. She struck forward; angelic energy surged like beams of blinding radiance, bombarding the semi-transformed dryad.
While Nephilim kept her occupied, I rushed forward. I compressed my Quintuple Yggdragon Aura into my own form via Yggdragon Aura Fusion, assuming my divine dragon princess state as I bore down on her.
"Enough play! Just rest in peace!"
Without a hint of mercy, I executed a three-hit combo utilizing my supreme swordsmanship arts.
The Spirit of Strength manifested through my strikes, amplifying my physical prowess. Celestial dragon fangs, infernal claws, and spiraling dragons of fire pierced the struggling monster, annihilating her once and for all.
Her Spirit Body was finally vanquished and cleansed. Her existence was erased, ending her life for good.
"Phew, that is finally over," I exhaled in relief. "What in the world was that monster? She was far too treacherous."
"That is the terror of a corrupted monster of her stature..." Nephilim sighed. "The curse must be immensely potent—and so is its master... Should we pause to rest?"
"Yes, let us—Oh?!"
As I attempted to sit, a deluge of notifications flickered before my eyes.
