At the same time.
Having shed her surgical clothes, Kalea headed to the adjacent building, muttering complaints to herself.
"Ugh! Why does it always have to be me?"
She let out a breath. "Myra casually told me to report to Mrs. Erinette if Liana seems frightening. But has she overlooked how much scarier Mrs. Erinette is than Liana?"
"Sigh... Hopefully Liana’s in a pleasant mood today."
Arriving at the building’s entrance, she spotted Garak and Marcor on guard duty.
Garak let out a playful whistle. "Hey there, gorgeous~" he grinned, propping his hand against the wall.
"What’s your game, Garak?" Kalea rolled her eyes, shooting him a sidelong glare.
"Aw~ Relax... I’m only greeting you. No need to be so icy~"
She rolled her eyes once more. "I’m occupied and have no time for this." Her gaze shifted to Marcor. "Marcor?"
Marcor acted as if he heard nothing, ignoring her completely.
"Marcor!!!" she snapped.
"Ugh! The pesky girl’s arrived. Can’t fathom why you fancy her, Garak."
"What?" Garak laughed lightly. "She’s stunning. Naturally, I’m intrigued."
"Sure. Beauty’s her sole asset, but that personality grates like nothing else."
Kalea shot Marcor a fierce glare, but he paid her no mind.
"Marcorrrrr!!!"
"Ugh! My ears! What’s up, Kalea? Our King has already gone to Mathrias Estate with the Queen, plus his regular guards Sir Alf and Mrs. Erinette."
Kalea sighed and leaned toward Marcor with a sugary, clingy smile that irked him.
"Marcorrrr~"
"Ugh! Back off!" Marcor rose and shoved her aside, frowning irritably. "What? Keep your distance."
"Mou! You ought to count your blessings that a stunner like me even notices you~" Kalea squinted her eyes, flashing another teasing grin.
"Not buying it! Anyway, Garak’s the one smitten with you. Be grateful someone actually wants you. Check him out—great job, fine home, handsome looks. He’s all yours. Now beat it. Shoo, shoo."
Kalea huffed, lips pursed, then spun to Garak with an eye roll.
"Garak."
Garak raised his brows suggestively, beaming his most alluring smile, his voice dropping to a silky purr. "Yes, my lovely lady~? Require aid from this dashing fellow?"
"Eww!" Kalea grimaced in disgust. "Absolutely not. Pay attention now."
"Yes, my lovely lady?" Garak flashed yet another flirty smile.
Kalea breathed out. "Where’s Miss Liana at?"
"Oh~ Miss Liana’s in her room with the other co-wives. But this charming Garak awaits you~"
Kalea pivoted and smiled sweetly at Marcor. "Marcor~" She puckered her lips, attempting to draw near again.
Marcor repelled her once more. "Ugh! Stay put and speak. Why crowd me?"
"Mou!" She sulked. "Most guys would kill for a beauty like me to glance their way~"
"Nope. You’re pretty, sure, but irritating. Plus, not my style. Quit chasing my notice." Marcor pulled a face of clear annoyance, signaling zero interest.
He fixed a stern glare on Kalea. "Cut the nonsense and get to the point already."
"Mou! Such a cold fish. Hmmph!" She whirled to Garak, still flaunting his allure.
"Could one of you tell Miss Liana that Miss Myra wants her?"
Garak halted, settling back into his chair with arms folded.
"Nope... Can’t help there."
Marcor snickered with a smirk. "Exactly. Forgot Miss Liana, Miss Gloria, Princess Felicia, Princess Delya, and Princess Mimi are set to become Prince Javier’s fiancées? No thanks, we avoid drama. If you need her, grab a mana talkie. No answer? Check with the maids."
"Not saying we won’t, Kalea, but better we don’t. Only if no alternatives, we’d fetch her." Garak shook his head.
Marcor grinned slyly. "Heh... Why push us to summon Miss Liana? You’re female—march in yourself. No bans on your entry."
"Ugh!" Kalea glowered, cheeks ballooning. "You guys know she’s terrifying, don’t you?"
"Huh?" Marcor arched a brow, puzzled. "Nah. Strict on discipline, rules, servant etiquette, yeah—but she doesn’t devour folks."
"But... everyone knows she envies pretty girls, right?" Kalea whispered.
Marcor froze, then burst into roaring laughter. "You dreaming or what? Bwahahaha!"
Garak merely chuckled, shaking his head.
Marcor dabbed his eyes. "Forgot she’s an Elf? Tops the Maid Beauty Contest in Partnered division, Miss Gloria close second. Huh?"
He pressed on. "Mahira leads Singles, Head Maid Erisa surging to third, Anna at two! Yet Miss Liana ignores them. Oh, and Mahira outshines you in looks!"
Marcor beamed at Kalea.
"You know Head Maid Erisa publicly pines for Prince Javier, but Liana never strikes. Drop the paranoia, head in. You’re hilarious today~"
"Ugh! Explains why you’re single forever!" Kalea spat at Marcor.
"Oho~" Marcor wagged a finger. "No, no, no~ Single by choice. Not for lack of options~"
Kalea snorted, cheeks puffed, stomped to the door, halted, spun, and stuck out her tongue at Marcor.
"Hope you remain single forever!" she snapped.
Marcor waggled his brows with a impish grin. "Well... single or not, you’ll keep pursuing me~"
"Ughhhhh!!!!" Grumbling, she entered and shut the door.
Inside, she scanned about, seeing all maids occupied.
She sighed.
No option left but to summon her directly.
Ugh! Why’d that patient demand this?
Climbing upstairs, she arrived at Liana’s shared room.
Fingers crossed Miss Liana’s in a fine mood today.
She rapped thrice and murmured.
"Mm... excuse me... Miss Liana."
The door swung open, revealing Liana with a stern face, eyes piercing sharply.
Kalea squirmed under Liana’s daunting stare.
Liana cocked her head. "Yes, Kalea?"
"Um... Miss... Liana..."
"Hmm? Need something?"
"Umm..." Eyes dodging, she fidgeted. "Miss... umm... Miss Myra... requests... your attendance... Said you’re wanted in Intensive Care."
Liana’s eyes tightened.
"Now?"
