Rio and his companions arrive at Dragon Valley, where they are met by the Dragon King Idri. Idri expresses his admiration for Rio's strength and welcomes the group, though he warns them of the extreme danger posed by a miasma-emitting portal. Apesar de idri's concerns, Rio's team decides to proceed with their plan to visit Fairyland, with Rio escorting them while the others avoid the direct danger.

The meeting hall was a wide, circular chamber of dark stone, lit by tall windows through which the pale light of the afternoon fell across a heavy table carved with the crest of the dragon race.

In the meeting hall, the meeting to discuss countermeasures against the new miasma dungeon went much more simply than most would expect.

From the start it was very clear that Rio was the only one qualified to challenge that dungeon in the entire world; anyone who went inside with him would just prove to be a burden for him.

Nobody in the room argued with this, for every one of them knew this fact.

"The safest approach for you all to go inside and visit the fairies would be when Rio has already taken care of the miasma dungeon..."

The Dragon King spoke slowly and clearly, resting both of his large hands on the table, and his gaze moved from one young face to the next as he laid out each point.

"But if we consider the fact that you all have high resistance to miasma, you might be the only beings who can ensure the safety of the fairies while Rio explores the dungeon in the meantime..."

It was not a decision he had made lightly, and the faint tension on his face showed how many times he had weighed the idea in his mind before saying it aloud.

"I and Fenix would go in with you all and deal with any demons or corrupted beasts that might have come out of the dungeon."

The Dragon King was no coward, and he was not going to send children into that hellhole all alone; he had already decided to go himself to ensure the safety of the entire group.

Within his heart, the word king had never meant standing behind others while they bled, and the thought of sitting safely in his palace was more than his pride could bear.

As for Fenix, he was also a peak SS ranker and was the person that had once acted as the examiner for Rio during the Dragon Valley Festival. His combat effectiveness was proven with his amazing battle record.

He did not speak much and he did not boast, yet the soldiers stationed in the hall lowered their voices whenever he glanced at them, and that quiet respect said more than any list of victories.

"Other SS-rankers of the dragon valley would stay outside and keep the seal stable just in case some powerful demon rushes out and wreaks havoc in the dragon valley during my absence..."

A few dragons seated near the end of the table murmured their agreement, and the sound of their low voices rolled through the hall like distant thunder.

The Dragon King had the responsibility to maintain the safety of the entire Dragon Valley, where dozens of vassal races lived and depended on the dragons for protection.

Within those mountains there were farms, markets, and small villages where whole families went to sleep each night trusting that the golden shadows overhead would keep them safe.

He couldn’t just leave the entire place unattended and had to keep several SS rankers stationed just in case some other miasmic rift or dungeon opened in any other area while he was gone.

A king who abandoned his people for one danger might return to find another disaster waiting at his own gates, and Idri had no wish to learn that lesson the hard way.

In the long pages of history, miasma has long been known as a terrifying schemer. Creating random miasmic rifts to divert attention, while aiming for entirely different targets, was one of its greatest specialties!

Old scholars often described it as a patient spider that never rushed and never forgot, always spinning its web in the places where people least expected it.

Even King Allen, the literal heaven’s chosen, had fallen for such traps many times during the thousand-year demon extinction war, and many races were wiped out unprepared when the attention of the entire world was diverted somewhere else.

Even the brightest hero of an age could not watch every corner of the world at once, and miasma understood that weakness better than anyone.

One of the saddest examples of this was the dark elven race that once ruled the Maya Continent.

Their elegant towers once glittered beneath the moon, and the songs of their poets had been famous across many lands before the darkness came.

In the past few months, due to the ascension of the new pseudo-god Rio Flash, the Maya continent has been restored and has come to life just like the Demon Continent, but for a long time, that land used to be a mass grave of a destroyed civilization.

Those who walked there now said that on quiet nights the wind still seemed to whisper in voices that had no mouths, as if the old inhabitants had not quite finished their farewells.

Thus, preparing counter-measures against all possible scenarios was critical.

Nobody in the hall wished to repeat the mistakes of the past, and the memory of the Maya Continent hung over the table like a quiet warning.

"Good, this plan would do. We should proceed as fast as possible; there isn’t much time to waste."

The Dragon King nodded firmly at everyone and pushed his chair back, the faint scrape of the legs on the stone floor made several people lift their heads.

"Every second that passes here talking increases the risk of the remaining fairies dying to miasma incredibly fast!"

Behind his calm voice, there was a sharp and steady urgency, the kind of pressure that comes from knowing that lives are measured in moments.

Due to the mythical artifact, ’Source of All Elemental Life,’ being broken, no new fairies could be born easily, and thus the population of the entire fairy race was already dwindling to a dangerous level.

Without it, the quiet cycle that had once filled the world with new little lights had simply stopped, and each fairy who fell was a loss that could never be undone.

If the Miasma Dungeon was not stopped on time, the fairy race would really go extinct from the world this time.
