Reborn as an Extra Chapter 858: A Gem Hidden Beneath Dark Mud, Ratna of Eldor! Part-2.
Previously on Reborn as an Extra...
Over the past year, they had already seen Ratna make excellent choices just relying on his intuition alone, causing many of them to survive calamities that could have wiped them all out on the spot.
Thus, they had a reason to consider Ratna’s intuition to be somewhat believable.
"Sigh, the feeling I am getting is kind of like a mixed one... it’s not bad but not good either... this is the first time my intuition has been so confused-"
Just when Ratna was trying to explain the weirdness of the situation, an unfamiliar voice suddenly appeared.
"And here I was wondering who was trying to track me down using disturbances in the ’Fate’..."
"It’s quite unbelievable that a little demon like you actually has the makings of a ’King’... how amusing~"
The voice belonged to an unknown individual who had suddenly appeared near the bonfire out of nowhere and was now sitting among the group like it was completely natural.
The unknown individual was wearing dark black clothes that seemed quite similar to that of a ’Pilgrim,’ an expressionless look hung on his face as his dark black eyes stared at the group with a hollow look in them.
Ratna had seen that similar hollow look many many times in this godforsaken hellhole; generally, such hollow, lightless eyes only belonged to creatures that were either already dead or had their souls shattered by miasmic rot and were on the verge of death!
"A human!? No, that’s not it!... such a thick miasmic aura! wha-what kind of monstrosity are you!? A manifestation of hatred!?"
Ratna, who was usually calm and collected all the time, panicked instantly, and his entire body trembled uncontrollably as if the creature in front of him was many many times more horrific than anything he had ever seen in his life!
Ratna’s friends were even more scared than him and screamed at the top of their lungs to grab the attention of the rest of the members of the tribe in hope of asking for help.
Unfortunately, no matter how hard they screamed and how much chaos they made, the rest of the camp didn’t even seem to hear or notice anything amiss at all as no one came to help them.
"Err... although I have been given horrible nicknames before many times, but being called a ’Manifestation of Hatred’ is still going a bit too overboard... I am not that scary looking, am I?"
A look of doubt appeared in the strangers’ dead eyes as if he himself found it hard to believe that he was scary, but from Ratna’s perspective, this sense of doubt seemed even more terrifying.
’Such overwhelming pressure... such horrific miasmic density; even just looking at him directly is making my brain ache like crazy!’
’Don’t tell me... is this... the ’Demon King’ himself!? Or maybe some lesser-known general of the demon army!? A newly born high-level manifestation of miasma!?’
Many questions rose in Ratna’s heart, but he had no other choice to calm himself down even if it meant biting his own lips until they bled to use the pain as an anchor for his sanity!
Seeing Ratna do that, his friends followed suit, distanced themselves from the unknown stranger, huddled together on the opposite side of the bonfire, and forcefully calmed themselves down.
"No need to be so wary... I was just passing through the area nearby, but then I felt the fluctuations in the strings of destiny and noticed that someone’s strong intuition was trying to inquire about me..."
"So I came over to pay a visit... Just consider me as a passerby; all I want is just some general information."
As if noticing that Ratna and the others had calmed down a bit, the person in odd pilgrim clothes smiled at the group and spoke in an emotionless voice,
"By the way, I forgot to introduce myself. I am on a pilgrimage in search of a higher state of mind..."
"Look, I am not even holding any weapons; I am travelling through these dark lands just to find my own light of hope..."
Rio, the self-proclaimed pilgrim, raised his head and looked at the starry sky; his black hair swayed in the cold breeze as he stretched out his hand to hold the falling snowflake in his palm before saying,
"In life, we all pursue the meaning of our existence and the meaning of our goals; the same is true for me. Just like you are trying to survive this harsh winter, I am also trying to survive the coldness encroaching my heart..."
"We all seek a ray of warm light that could bring hope to us... doesn’t that make us all fellow ’Pilgrims’?"
"So why fear comrades... we are all but mere strugglers on the same path of survival."
Speaking those words, the unknown being brought out a teacup and started brewing tea right in the middle of a tribe filled with corrupted demons and monsters while sitting on the forbidden land of the demon continent.
If the outside world had seen his actions, many would have been shocked stunned, and many would have called this outrageously unbelievable.
But to Rio, the ’Pilgrim,’ all this seemed so natural and easy that even Ratna, a random demon who knew nothing about Rio, couldn’t help but feel fascinated for a second.
"A pilgrim you say... but do the hopeless lands of the Demon Continent even have what you seek?"
"I find it hard to believe that a land forsaken by the world and inflicted by the endless rot of miasmic corruption could interest an ordinary pilgrim, let alone bring any sense of hope to anybody..."
"Your conviction to come here is already quite admirable, but I find your actions difficult to understand... in my opinion... this is kind of ’Walking Aimlessly’ to a random place like a hollow undead..."
Hearing Ratna’s words, the unknown pilgrim stopped midway drinking tea for a second, and a look of surprise flashed in his eyes for a moment before he continued sipping his tea and spoke in a calm voice,
"As I thought... you have the bearings of a ’King’..."
