Kang Li accompanied Austin to the mall to buy clothes and shoes for Jian. Meanwhile, back home, Luo Yanqing, Captain Kang, and Cai Xiufen overheard an argument from their neighbors, the Wens. Ming Han reported that Uncle Wen wants a divorce, but Auntie Su is refusing and has taken a large number of pills, leading to her hospitalization.

With Ming Han’s words concluding, the atmosphere in the living room became so dense that a falling pin could be heard.

"Luo Minghan, half an hour."

Min Rui’s voice abruptly cut through the heavy silence.

"Understood."

Ming Han replied, aware that his elder brother was instructing him to face the wall as a form of reflection.

"Ruirui, you and Grandma can open these suitcases. I’ll sort through the items inside," Cai Xiufen announced, stepping away from her discussion about Su Man’s pill-swallowing incident. She moved towards the pile of luggage dominating the living room center.

Luo Yanqing: "Mom, allow me to assist you."

"You should go rest. With Ruirui helping me, I can sort things out gradually. Nothing is particularly urgent," Cai Xiufen responded, dismissively waving a hand at Luo Yanqing.

"Grandma, I’ll help Big Brother with you,"

Ming Wei approached Cai Xiufen’s side.

Cai Xiufen offered a warm smile and a nod. "Here, these are some letters your mother wrote to you." She retrieved four envelopes from the luggage and presented them to Ming Wei. "This one is for Xiao En; your Little Uncle can deliver it later."

"Then I’ll keep Xiao En’s letter safe for now. When Little Uncle returns next weekend, I’ll give it to him." With that, Ming Wei handed two other letters to Min Rui and Ming Han.

However, the three siblings did not immediately tear into their letters; instead, they carefully folded them and placed them securely in their pockets.

"Wow! The dress and little shoes Mom got for me are so lovely!"

Upon seeing the charming little dress and shoes Cai Xiufen revealed from the suitcase, Ming Wei expressed her delight with an excited jump.

"Here, these are for you. Take them to your room and organize them. Your mother mentioned the books she bought for you should be read diligently. If anything is unclear, consult your Big Brother."

Min Rui and his siblings had been immersed in foreign language studies with Kang Li since childhood, enabling them to easily comprehend children's and youth foreign literature.

"Grandma, I shall heed Mom’s advice and ask Big Brother if I encounter any difficulties,"

Ming Wei replied cheerfully before taking her gifts to her room.

"Ruirui, these items are yours." After taking out the presents Kang Li had purchased for Min Rui, Cai Xiufen handed them over. She then passed Ming Han’s belongings to her eldest grandson. "Help Hanhan take his things to your room and put them away."

Min Rui nodded. "Certainly."

It was Saturday, and with two classes remaining in the afternoon, the time was nearing one o’clock.

"Dad, Mom, I will escort Luo Mingrui and the others to school."

Luo Yanqing bid farewell to Captain Kang and his wife, then addressed Ming Han. "Head to school and make up the remaining twenty minutes this afternoon."

"Alright."

Ming Han acknowledged.

"Leave the letter at home."

Luo Yanqing’s calm instruction was directed at Ming Han’s pocket.

Ming Han hesitated for a moment before ultimately nodding in agreement.

Noticing Min Rui and Ming Wei emerging from their room, Luo Yanqing inquired, "Where are your letters?"

"I’ve placed mine in the room drawer,"

Min Rui responded.

Ming Wei instinctively covered her pocket, remaining silent for a moment.

"Put them in the room."

Before Luo Yanqing could intervene, Min Rui gently nudged Ming Wei. "Read them after school this afternoon."

"...Very well."

After a brief pause, Ming Wei sighed with a maturity beyond her years, returned to her room to secure the letter, and then rejoined the living room.

"Let’s go."

Summoning the three to follow, Luo Yanqing exited the living room.

Once the four had departed, Cai Xiufen swiftly organized the items Kang Li had brought back and her own foreign outfits. She then engaged Captain Kang in a discussion regarding Su Man’s pill incident.

"What is Comrade Su thinking? She’s not living well, yet she seeks death. Does she truly believe this action will dissuade Comrade Wen from divorcing her?"

"Why involve yourself in others' affairs?!" Captain Kang took a draw from his pipe. "Aren't you preparing some food? Or do you expect Yanqing to remain hungry with us?"

Min Rui and his siblings, having dined at the Song Family residence, arrived home just as Luo Yanqing and Captain Kang were entering the yard. Consequently, the three siblings remained at home for an additional twenty minutes.

"Making oil-splashed noodles?"

"Indeed."

"I shall proceed to the kitchen to knead the dough. You retrieve two green onions and a few vegetables, and wash them thoroughly."

"You are quite particular."

Captain Kang followed Cai Xiufen, hands clasped behind his back, as she left the living room. "Since arriving in North City, have I ever refused to lend a hand when you're cooking?"

"Is there something wrong with lending a hand? Aren't you eating too?"

Giving Captain Kang an unimpressed glance, Cai Xiufen pushed open the kitchen door.

"One cannot win an argument against a woman like you."

With that statement, Captain Kang paid no heed to Cai Xiufen. He then retrieved two green onions and a handful of vegetables, washing them as Cai Xiufen had directed, and set them aside in the basin, prepared for their intended use.
