After a period of quiet tension, Luo Yanqing reminds Ming Han of his punishment. The family then begins sorting through luggage from abroad, discovering letters from their mother and gifts. The siblings are instructed to put the letters away until after school, and Luo Yanqing takes them to school. Meanwhile, Cai Xiufen and Captain Kang discuss Su Man's recent actions, before preparing to cook together.

"Shall I ignite it now?"

"Do you even need to ask me that?"

"Can't we resolve this peacefully?"

"Absolutely not."

"You woman..."

"What about me?"

The elder, rather than airing his grievances directly, why did he opt to say, "I simply cannot converse with a woman like you"?

Captain Kang: "..." This woman's audacity knows no bounds!

After seeing the three youngsters safely to school, Luo Yanqing did not dally and returned home immediately. Upon entering, the delightful scent of cooking greeted her.

Cai Xiufen: "You're back! Go wash your hands and have your meal."

Luo Yanqing: "Yes."

Three steaming bowls of flavorful oil-splashed noodles were presented on the table. Noticing Luo Yanqing's arrival in the dining area, Cai Xiufen urged, "Hurry and eat, before the noodles turn cold."

"Mom, Dad, please join me,"

Luo Yanqing said as she picked up her bowl.

Captain Kang: "Go ahead and eat." He offered Cai Xiufen a pair of chopsticks, then lifted the large porcelain bowl before him, digging into the appetizing noodles with gusto. They looked and smelled utterly divine.

That afternoon, precisely around four o'clock, a stir of activity emanated from the Wen Family Courtyard next door.

"They must have returned from the hospital!"

Cai Xiufen, having just finished vigorously beating dust from the quilts, re-entered the living room and whispered, gesturing towards the neighboring residence.

"It is their home; where else would they go?"

Captain Kang took a sip of his tea and remarked, "Do not forget, you were once the leader of the women's association. Your discernment and bearing were distinct from ordinary women. Refrain from constantly indulging in watching the neighborhood drama."

"Did I ever mention I was going to watch?"

Cai Xiufen lowered her voice, careful not to disturb Luo Yanqing, who was engrossed in reading within the study.

"Are you quite certain you have no desire to observe the unfolding events?"

Captain Kang inquired.

"Even if I were to look, what real harm would it cause? With so many eyes already upon it, would one additional viewer truly make a difference?" Cai Xiufen shot Captain Kang a glare. "I am no longer the women's leader, so cease harping on about my discernment and bearing."

Before Kang Li could respond, he continued, "I intend to purchase some toys and attire for Jian, but I'm uncertain about the best selections. Should you have the time, would you accompany me to the shopping center?"

"Let's proceed."

Kang Li rose, but as Austin stood, she added, "One moment, I must briefly pay my respects to my grandfather and Aunt Fu."

With that, Kang Li departed from the living room.

Approximately three to four minutes later, the sound of footsteps descending the stairs was audible. Austin looked up, asking, "Are you prepared to depart?" Kang Li emerged from the staircase, a smile gracing her features as she gave a nod.

"Allow me to carry that for you."

Noticing the parcel in Kang Li's hand, Austin extended his arm.

Kang Li gently shook her head, politely declining, "There is no need."

"Please, ride with me."

Austin opened the car door, extending an invitation for Kang Li to enter.

"I shall drive myself; it will be more convenient for my return journey and spares you the trouble,"

Lightly shaking her head, Kang Li proceeded to the garage and retrieved a white compact car. "Please lead the way," she instructed, glancing through the car window.

"Very well."

Austin felt a swirl of emotions, yet he managed to reply with a smile.

It is worth noting that the white compact car was a special acquisition by Jiang Boya, intended for his cherished daughter, Kang Li.

Over half an hour later, their vehicles gracefully came to a halt in the parking area of a sprawling shopping complex.

Exiting her vehicle, Kang Li adopted a natural demeanor, engaging Austin in conversation as they entered the mall.

"Does this garment appear to fit?"

"Jian and our second child share a similar stature and build, so this size should pose no issue. Not long ago, my partner and I visited this very mall to procure attire for the children, and we selected a comparable item for our second child then, albeit in a different hue."

"Let us acquire it, then."

Within the children's apparel section, they selected several outfits for Jian. Subsequently, they moved to the children's footwear area, choosing a pair of black leather shoes alongside two pairs of sneakers suitable for Jian's age. Kang Li remarked, "It is acceptable to purchase shoes that are slightly large."

Austin offered a nod of agreement.

Larger shoes could await the day his feet grew into them.

"Let us proceed to the toy emporium."

Kang Li gestured for Austin to follow as they navigated towards the children's toy section, guided by the mall's directional signs. While examining the shelves, Kang Li commented, "Young boys tend to favor vehicles and aircraft, whereas young girls are drawn to..." She proceeded to gently elucidate to Austin the distinct toy preferences typical of both genders.

Before long, half an hour had elapsed, and the pair emerged from the shopping center.

Austin carefully placed the an assortment of bags, both large and small, into his car's trunk, then took the parcels Kang Li was carrying. "My sincere gratitude!"

Upon disembarking from their flight and returning to their courtyard, Luo Yanqing, Captain Kang, and Cai Xiufen were immediately met with an argument erupting from the neighboring Wen family's residence. This was swiftly followed by a loud exclamation from Wen Siyuan: "Are you out of your mind!"

"What's happening?" Cai Xiufen directed the question towards Captain Kang.

"Just the neighbors having a spat," Captain Kang responded nonchalantly.

"I know they're arguing. My question is, why?" Cai Xiufen’s annoyance was evident as she realized Captain Kang hadn't grasped her intent. To her surprise, he replied with equal irritation, "How would I know something you don't know?"

"Grandma, Grandma, I'll go peek and help you take a look," Ming Han chirped, a cheerful tone preceding his quick dash out of the living room.

"I'll go help Grandma look too," Ming Wei declared, intending to follow her brother Ming Han. However, Luo Yanqing's hand gently intervened, saying, "Stay put."

Ming Wei responded with a subdued "Oh," settling down beside Cai Xiufen with a slightly dejected air.

"Already feeling down?" Cai Xiufen inquired softly. Surprisingly, Ming Wei shook her head and, casting a furtive glance at Luo Yanqing, whispered, "No, I'm not."

"Alright, it's not wise to get involved in others' quarrels. If you're not careful, you might find yourself in trouble. Your father only wants what's best for you," Cai Xiufen consoled the young girl.

"But my second brother already ran out," Ming Wei pouted, her voice tinged with a hint of grievance. "Dad is always so stern when he talks to my older brothers and me. It scares me."

"That's just how your father is. He doesn't typically smile much, but he isn't deliberately giving us cold looks," Cai Xiufen explained with a fond expression. She then gestured towards the pile of luggage in the center of the living room, asking the little girl, "Aren't you curious to see what your mother bought for you?"

Instantly, Ming Wei's eyes lit up, and she nodded eagerly, "Grandma, I want to see!"

"Just a moment. Once Grandma gets a little rest, I'll unpack everything your mother picked out for you." As she spoke, Cai Xiufen noticed Ming Han bounding back into the living room.

"Can't you walk more carefully?" Luo Yanqing addressed Ming Han, his gaze sharp. "How many times has your mother told you not to rush around? What if you bump into someone or take a tumble?"

"I'm sorry," Ming Han replied, standing formally. He then tentatively asked, "Should I go face the wall and reflect for half an hour?"

Yet, Luo Yanqing remained silent, simply observing him quietly.

His heart sinking with apprehension, Ming Han quickly and obediently responded, "I'll go right now."

However, before proceeding to the wall, he turned his attention back to Cai Xiufen. "Grandma, Uncle Wen and Auntie Su next door are getting a divorce. Auntie Su didn't agree, so she downed a lot of pills right in front of Uncle Wen. Now he's rushed her to the hospital. I overheard Aunt Xu and Teacher Loo saying that if Auntie Su doesn't have her stomach pumped soon, she might not make it."
