Chapter 1316: Chapter 1211:
After some time had passed, their vehicle eventually halted within the spacious confines of a large mall's parking area.
Exiting the car, Kang Li moved with an air of nonchalance, engaging Austin in conversation as they proceeded towards the mall's entrance.
“Do you think this attire is suitable?”
“Jian and my second child are nearly identical in height and build. Obtaining this particular size should present absolutely no issue. Not too long ago, my spouse and I visited this very mall to procure garments for the children; we selected an identical style for my second child, though the color varied.”
“In that case, let us proceed with the purchase.”
Navigating the children’s apparel section, after selecting several ensembles for Jian, their attention shifted to the footwear area. Considering Jian’s age, a pair of black leather shoes, along with two pairs of athletic sneakers, were chosen. Kang Li offered, “It is perfectly acceptable to acquire shoes that are slightly larger.”
Austin conveyed his agreement with a nod.
Should the shoes be a bit roomy, they could still be worn as his feet continued to grow.
“Let us make our way to the toy section.”
Kang Li gestured for Austin to follow, and guided by the mall's directional signs, they arrived at the designated area for children's playthings. Kang Li remarked, “Young boys typically gravitate towards toys such as vehicles and aircraft, whereas young girls tend to prefer…” Speaking in a voice imbued with tenderness, Kang Li surveyed the assortment of toys displayed on the shelves, elaborating to Austin on the distinct preferences boys and girls exhibited for different types of toys.
Another thirty minutes elapsed with remarkable speed, and Kang Li, accompanied by Austin, emerged from the mall.
Austin proceeded to stow the numerous bags and parcels into the trunk of his automobile before accepting the items from Kang Li’s grasp: “My sincere thanks!”
“There is no need for such gratitude; we are, after all, friends.”
Kang Li offered a smile and bid farewell to Austin: “You should depart promptly to arrange the items you intend to transport.” With these words, she extended a hand in a waving gesture: “Farewell.”
Austin reciprocated with a nod: “Farewell.” His gaze remained fixed until Kang Li’s vehicle had completely driven out of sight.
A subtle undercurrent of melancholy was discernible within his eyes.
…
Upon their return home.
Luo Yanqing, Captain Kang, and Cai Xiufen had just concluded their journey, returning to their residential compound from their flight, when the distinct sounds of a heated exchange emanated from the adjacent residence belonging to the Wen family. Shortly thereafter, Wen Siyuan's voice, laced with intense anger, erupted, “You have lost your mind!”
“What is transpiring?”
Cai Xiufen directed her inquiry towards Captain Kang.
“A dispute is occurring next door.”
Big Brother Kang responded with a casual tone.
“I am aware of that; my question pertains to the reason for their disagreement,” Cai Xiufen stated, looking at Captain Kang with a degree of exasperation, perceiving that Captain Kang had not fully grasped the intent behind her question. Unexpectedly, Captain Kang, upon hearing this, conveyed his own frustration, retorting, “How would I possibly possess knowledge of something you yourself are unaware of?”
“Grandma, Grandma, I shall venture out to investigate the situation for you.”
Ming Han declared with a playful grin and swiftly departed from the living room.
“I will also go and see what is happening for Grandma,” Ming Wei announced, preparing to follow her brother, Ming Han. Observing this, Luo Yanqing instructed, “Remain seated.”
Ming Wei responded with a simple “Oh,” and with a noticeable reluctance, settled down beside Cai Xiufen.
“Are you feeling displeased at this moment?” Cai Xiufen inquired of the young girl. To her surprise, Ming Wei shook her head, then covertly glanced towards Luo Yanqing and whispered, “No.”
“Very well, observing the unfolding drama is not a virtuous pursuit. At times, if one is not exceedingly cautious, accidental involvement could ensue. Your father’s actions are solely for your welfare.”
Cai Xiufen offered words of comfort to the little girl.
“But my second brother ran outside.”
Ming Wei puffed out her cheeks, her voice tinged with a hint of complaint: “Father consistently addresses me, my elder brother, and my second brother with a stern countenance. I feel a sense of apprehension when looking at him.”
“Your father possesses such a demeanor; he is not inclined towards frequent smiling, yet it is not his intention to adopt a stern expression towards us.” With a gaze full of affection, Cai Xiufen gestured towards the collection of luggage centrally placed in the living room, posing a question to the young girl: “Do you not wish to examine the items your mother has purchased for you?”
Ming Wei’s eyes immediately brightened, and she nodded with great enthusiasm: “Grandma, I certainly do!”
“Kindly exercise patience for a moment; once Grandma has rested, we shall unpack each item that your mother has acquired for you, one by one.” As Cai Xiufen spoke, she observed Ming Han making his way back into the living room.
“Is it not possible for you to walk with more decorum?”
Luo Yanqing directed his attention to Ming Han: “How many times has your mother cautioned you against running about so recklessly? What if you were to collide with someone or suffer a fall yourself, how would you manage?”
“I have erred.”
Standing with proper posture, Ming Han opened his mouth tentatively, proposing, “Might I suggest I retreat to the corner for a period of thirty minutes of self-reflection?”
However, Luo Yanqing remained silent, observing him with a quiet intensity.
Experiencing a subtle tension, Ming Han obediently stated, “I shall comply immediately.”
Yet, before proceeding to the designated corner, he directed his gaze towards Cai Xiufen: “Grandma, Uncle Wen desires to divorce Auntie Su, but Auntie Su is adamantly opposed. In Uncle Wen’s presence, she ingested a considerable quantity of medication, and now Uncle Wen has transported her to the hospital. I overheard Aunt Xu and Teacher Loo remarking that if Auntie Su does not receive immediate gastric lavage, her life could be in grave danger.”
