Rebirth: Slice-of-life Cultivation Chapter 1826 - 1002: Wild Animal Escape Incident (Part 3)
Previously on Rebirth: Slice-of-life Cultivation...
Chu Xiaofeng felt incapable of undertaking the mission to rescue the damsel in distress, who was clad in black stockings. However, he was immensely relieved; otherwise, Brother Tian might have unleashed his wrath!
"Too terrifying!" Chu Xiaofeng shuddered just thinking about Wang Yanyan's 'sexy black stockings,' and an immediate sense of dread washed over him. From this day forward, he would no longer have an affinity for black stockings!
To regain Brother Tian's favor, Chu Xiaofeng recalled the floral-adorned vehicle Jiang Ning was using. He promptly located the staff and paid them to decorate a similar car. He even went a step further by inviting two captivating young ladies, who had previously participated in the Fourth Middle School's campus beauty pageant.
Xue Yuantong gazed at Chu Xiaofeng's sightseeing car in sheer astonishment. Not only was it adorned with an abundance of flowers, but balloons were also tethered to it, making it far more magnificent than her own transport.
Chen Siyu murmured, "How utterly despicable, they actually copied us!"
Nevertheless, in Chu Xiaofeng's own estimation, what kind of imitation was this? It was clearly an act of surpassing!
With a determined pedal, Chu Xiaofeng took the initiative to approach Jiang Ning and his entourage: "Hey there, how are you all doing!"
"So utterly shameless!" Chen Siyu inwardly seethed.
Jiang Ning calmly steered his vehicle: "We're doing fine."
He guided the sightseeing car towards the management office, enlisted Shan Qingrong's assistance to procure two bundles of ropes, and then skillfully tethered three antelopes encountered along the road.
Xue Yuantong was perched atop the car, much like a seasoned angler, holding a bamboo pole from which a succulent carrot dangled. The antelopes, driven by their strong desire to nibble on the carrot, were compelled to pull the car forward.
"Hahaha!" Xue Yuantong exclaimed with delight, "Three antelopes forging ahead auspiciously!"
Chen Siyu urged, "Forward, charge onward!"
Students lining the path watched in utter bewilderment, scarcely able to believe such a playful activity was possible.
"Wow, could I perhaps borrow it for a spin?" A young boy expressed his sincere envy.
The only unfortunate aspect was their failure to encounter the bumbling imitator, Chu Xiaofeng, again.
Chu Xiaofeng remained deeply engrossed in his own creative endeavor: "Brother Tian, I have a suggestion to offer."
"Proceed," Qi Tianheng replied.
Chu Xiaofeng continued: "I overheard that the individual who subdued me is named Gai Shixun. He accompanied Wang Yanyan to the infirmary; perhaps we should pay them a visit?"
Qi Tianheng responded, "Certainly, you may."
Chu Xiaofeng promptly sped off, pedaling with great vigor.
Upon their swift arrival at the infirmary, he rushed ahead, with Qi Tianheng and the two attractive young ladies following close behind.
Wang Yanyan was reclining on a bed, undergoing an IV drip. Meanwhile, Gai Shixun, appearing rather meek, found himself encircled by Pang Jiao, Zhang Yifei, and Li Shengnan.
Pang Jiao patted Gai Shixun's shoulder, causing him to tremble noticeably. She exclaimed, "Oh my, this gentleman is exceptionally righteous; we sisters are truly grateful to you."
Gai Shixun endured the overwhelming attention, managing a strained smile. "It is merely my duty; it is what I ought to do."
The delicate Wang Yanyan observed Gai Shixun with evident satisfaction, sensing a masculine aura emanating from him.
Pang Jiao added with a chuckle, "Hoho, in the future, Yanyan will surely be indebted to you; you are quite fortunate, young man!"
Gai Shixun's sole desire at that moment was to depart, but he found himself unable to do so.
Witnessing Gai Shixun's timid demeanor, Chu Xiaofeng inwardly suppressed a fit of laughter.
"Serves you right for snatching the black stockings from me!"
Chu Xiaofeng gestured expansively and called out, "Doctor, please administer two more bottles to her; charge it to my account!"
Having delivered his pronouncement, Chu Xiaofeng departed the infirmary in high spirits. A few moments later, a rotund figure materialized at the doorway.
In the adjacent doctor's consultation room, two individuals were engaged in conversation: "Doctor Gong, I must attend to urgent matters after taking my medicine."
"Will you not sit for a moment?"
"No time, old Li just called me; he mentioned one has gone missing..."
Hong Yuanyuan's large ears twitched, catching faint snippets of conversation mentioning terms such as 'ferocious,' 'striped,' and 'dangerous.'
Furthermore, the staff seemed intent on avoiding communication with the school, prioritizing the swift apprehension of the escaped animal.
Hong Yuanyuan was startled by this revelation and silently entered the ward to relay the clandestine information to Pang Jiao and the others.
Pang Jiao reacted with shock: "What, a significant tiger is definitely missing!"
"Perhaps more than one!" Gai Shixun, disregarding his discomfort, immediately utilized his phone to disseminate the news to their classmates.
Word of the incident spread like wildfire.
Jiang Ning leisurely continued his journey, seated atop a flower-adorned vehicle. However, students standing by the roadside, their expressions grave, called out a warning: "You had best release the antelope; we've heard that over a dozen tigers have escaped from the zoo!"
Xue Yuantong queried with a raised eyebrow: "?"
Chen Siyu inquired, "How many tigers are there in total?"
"Indeed, I visited the tiger enclosure and felt that there were fewer tigers present," stated the roadside student with firm conviction.
Xue Yuantong retorted, "I refuse to believe it. Jiang Ning, drive towards the tiger enclosure!"
Thus, they propelled the goat-drawn carriage, triumphantly heading towards the beast enclosure.
The onlookers lining the roadside couldn't help but lament, "Knowing the tigers reside in the mountain, yet they head directly for Tiger Mountain!"
A student nearby voiced an amusing question: "If they happen to be devoured by tigers, could we then get a day off?"
Other students turned to cast him looks of astonishment.
...
Principal Yu stood at the zoo's main entrance, his face beaming as he was being interviewed, clearly in high spirits.
"As the mastermind behind this educational outing, what was the reasoning behind selecting the zoo..."
Just as Principal Yu began his explanation, Teacher Xiao Tao came rushing over with palpable urgency. "Principal, I've gotten wind that a dozen or so tigers have broken free from their enclosure! Apparently, the zoo is attempting to sweep this under the rug and deliberately withholding the information!"
Principal Yu's jaw dropped in shock, followed by a wave of dizziness washing over him. In that fleeting moment, every connection and favor he had painstakingly built over the years flashed through his mind.
What about his future aspirations? His impending glory? None of it seemed to hold any weight now. All he yearned for was his freedom.
Standing beside him, Mr. Yan, his expression grave, abruptly cut in with a sharp reprimand: "Silence! This is hardly the place for you to speak!"
...
The area surrounding the tiger exhibit was eerily deserted, not a soul in sight.
As their three-goat cart trundled along the road bordering the artificial river, Xue Yuantong's eyes swept over the adjacent grove, and she let out a disdainful snort. "Still 37 tigers? How could there be fewer?"
Chen Siyu questioned, taken aback, "How on earth do you know there are precisely 37 tigers?"
Xue Yuantong countered, her tone matter-of-fact, "When you were observing the tigers this morning, didn't you happen to take note of their exact number?"
Sister Chen Siqing chimed in, completely bewildered, "Who in their right mind would bother counting them?"
