CH840 Skywalker Appears I
***
Meanwhile, outside the city, Udara found a muscular black horse already waiting for her. The horse ran at incredible speed, quickly covering more than five kilometres from the city walls before they reached the edge of a forest clearing.
Udara jumped off Dread’s back, put her fingers into her mouth, and whistled.
Immediately, an army stepped out from within the forest line. Amongst them, she saw the familiar faces of Kavakan, Mogal, Dalton, and a few others.
"Is everything set?" she asked.
"Everything is ready," Kavakan confirmed.
"Alright. I will go prepare the stage," she said.
She ripped the cloak from her body and let it be carried away by the wind, revealing the full-body armour—clearly tailored to her figure—beneath it.
The crest of House Fury rested proudly upon her chest and shoulders, while that of House Skywalker was sewn onto a short cloth pinned to the back of the armour.
It seemed like a strange design choice at first, but it made more sense once one realised that the Skywalker crest was nothing more than a temporary addition to the armour—or at least, that was how Udara viewed it.
A helm appeared in her hand and she quickly donned it.
Suddenly, an avian figure dived down into the forest clearing and picked Udara up. It was none other than Senu.
She flung Udara upwards, allowing her to land acrobatically upon her back.
"Senu? Why are you here?" Udara asked in surprise.
"Skree!" Senu replied.
And somehow, Udara understood.
"Master was worried?" She smiled, warmth filling her heart.
"Alright, I’ll be able to make a better impression with you by my side.
"Let’s go, Senu!"
Skree!!!!
Senu’s cry echoed through the skies, audible even kilometres away in Mirador despite the chaos of battle and the constant humming of the Vulture Bee Drones’ wings.
Senu shot forward like a bullet of light through the veil of darkness covering the area.
Within moments, Senu arrived before the swarm of Vulture Bee Drones.
Udara raised one of her swords overhead while Senu also prepared an attack with one of her wings.
Without warning, they struck together.
Udara leapt slightly before slashing down. Senu swept her wing forward with tremendous force. Both attacks released vast amounts of energy that surged out before them, merging into an even more powerful attack.
BOOM!
The attack landed squarely amidst the Vulture Bee Drones.
Immediately, more than a hundred Vulture Bee Drones fell from the sky.
The sound of the impact rocked the entire area.
The soldiers on the Stronghold’s walls, as well as the people running for shelter down in Mirador, all turned towards the new arrival in stunned disbelief.
"Men of the North-East Fortress! Do not falter! House Skywalker is here to assist you. Pick up your arms and fight with me!" Udara empowered her voice with mana and roared at the men on the walls.
She intentionally addressed them by the Stronghold’s original name.
Udara patted Senu, and the Queen Eagle dove straight into the centre of the Vulture Bee Drones.
[Regal Aura]!
Immediately, the dignity of the self-proclaimed Queen of the Skies pervaded the air, and the Vulture Bee Drones dropped like... well, flies.
Even the land beasts that had entered the city and were destroying everything in sight stopped under the influence of the aura and looked up towards the sky.
Seeing the impressive display, the Stronghold’s troops were invigorated.
Those who had begun to lose their composure following the deaths of their Commander and other senior officers regained their wits, picked up their weapons, and continued the fight.
[Omnidirectional Spatial Rend]!
Senu unleashed another powerful attack, finally tearing through the Vulture Bee Drones’ encirclement.
Senu hovered above the Stronghold, allowing Udara to address the soldiers below while seemingly keeping the attacking bees frozen in place through her regal presence.
"Where is Viscount Dunhill? I have a message from my lord, Count Skywalker," Udara inquired.
For whatever reason, the soldiers in the area all—almost simultaneously—turned towards a particular soldier, the one who had first stepped up to rally them.
The soldier was taken aback by this, but stepped forward nonetheless.
"The Commander was—"
The soldier was about to lie about the Commander’s condition. But the moment his eyes met Udara and Senu in the sky, a chill ran down his spine. The words froze in his throat.
"The Commander is... indisposed," he eventually said.
"I see..." Udara nodded.
Then she said, "In that case, all of you will have to receive my lord’s words on his behalf,"
"What—?"
Before the soldier could question her intentions, Udara took out a scroll and channelled mana into it.
The scroll burnt up in an instant, its ashes carried away by the wind before eventually gathering together to form a golden figure.
The golden figure took the form of a young man.
None of the Stronghold’s soldiers had ever seen this young man before. However, the aura he exuded was unmistakably familiar.
The unmistakable aura of someone who wielded great authority or possessed an exalted lineage. Not even their former Commander could compare.
Putting the pieces together, they realised who the young man was... Count Skywalker.
"What is going on here, Udara?" the image spoke.
Udara half-knelt upon Senu’s back.
"I apologise, my lord. The beasts had already attacked before we could arrive at the Stronghold. I even had to split from the army and fly here on your herald’s back, but I still could not make it in time.
"Please punish me," Udara said.
"Nonsense." The image waved his hand, and a gentle force raised Udara back to her feet. "You were the one who discovered that these new beasts from the Great Berserk Beast Forest had gone around us and escaped when we had almost succeeded in wiping them out back at the rim of the forest.
"We wouldn’t have known that they would flank us and attack the unprepared North-East Fortress.
"If you couldn’t get here in time before the attack, even on the back of my Queen of the Skies, then no one would have been able to."
"What about the Stronghold Commander? I need his consent before sending my army to aid them," Alex said calmly.
The Stronghold’s soldiers wondered what was going on.
Though Count Skywalker looked young and gentle, there was an aura spreading from him—even though this was merely an image of him—that diffused into the air, strengthening the pressure upon the Vulture Bee Drones and seemingly preventing them from moving while he casually conversed with the female knight.
"Commander Dunhill is... indisposed," Udara replied.
"I see... What a pity..." Alex shook his head.
"In that case..." The image’s gaze turned towards the soldiers below. "With the lord of the territory incapacitated, by my authority as a Count under the banner of His Majesty, I hereby proclaim temporary regency over the Stronghold for the duration of this battle.
"Soldiers of the North-East Fortress, do you accept my authority?"
