Pocket Hunting Dimension Chapter 3: Blood Spewing Like Crazy
Previously on Pocket Hunting Dimension...
Before Lu Ze could manage a proper look at those two mysterious orbs, they vanished instantly from his sight.
Stunned, Lu Ze blinked repeatedly. Did everything in this world just decide to run off on its own? Those spheres, which clearly radiated an aura of raw power, had simply blinked out of existence!
Frustration roiled in Lu Ze’s gut...
Even more troublesome, a pair of rabbits—one white and one black, both matching the size of his recent prey—suddenly materialized on the grass ahead. They charged toward him with frantic intensity. Simultaneously, the sound of rustling vegetation erupted from behind him.
Lu Ze stiffened as he spun around. Two more grey rabbits, equally massive, were closing in. Four beasts in total... their crimson eyes burned with bloodlust as they drew near.
Without a second thought, Lu Ze bolted to the right. A single one of those monstrosities had nearly sent him flying; there was no way he could contend with four at once.
Having exhausted much of his stamina during the previous skirmish, his lungs began to burn after only a short burst of speed. The continuous rustling grass confirmed it: the pack of four was relentless in their pursuit.
His mouth felt like parchment. He wasn't a fellow rabbit, so why were they so obsessed with chasing him?!
The plains appeared infinite. Lu Ze sprinted for kilometers, his breath growing ragged, yet he bit his lip and pushed harder. He picked up the pace, fueled by desperation.
Worse yet, two additional rabbits joined the hunt in the distance. Now, a pack of six trailed him. If he dared to slow down, he would be torn to shreds.
Lu Ze couldn't afford to contemplate anything else. His chest throbbed, his throat was raw, and his legs felt heavy, as if they no longer belonged to him. He was merely running on pure instinct.
The pack grew in number, trailing him in an oddly uniform line, much like children on a school run—though these children had mouths that were far too large and dangerous.
Just as his awareness began to fade, the pursuing rabbits abruptly flicked their ears and halted dead in their tracks. Moments later, they scattered and vanished into the thickets.
Though he couldn't see them, hearing their retreat allowed his nerves to fray. His legs gave out, and he collapsed onto the grass. After a much-needed interval, he managed to pull himself upright.
What kind of place was this? Humans come here only to be bullied by rabbits? Good heavens, he had nearly lost his life.
He would mark this grievance down. Once his Cultivation advanced, he would certainly return to settle the score with these giant hares.
As this resolve hardened in his mind, a sudden, searing pain tore through his chest. He glanced down to see crimson blood spraying from his torso before his vision plummeted into total darkness.
...
Back in a murky room, Lu Ze snapped his eyes open and bolted upright. He gasped for air, his eyes wide with lingering terror. His dark hair and pajamas clung to his body, soaked in cold sweat.
Slowly, the fog lifted. He scanned the familiar surroundings, blinking in confusion.
What exactly was happening? Did he transmigrate, only to trigger some sort of return journey?
Lu Ze licked his parched lips. Had he really just perished?
He had known the finality of death back on Earth. He hadn't expected to confront it again so soon. Checking the clock, the sky hadn't even begun to lighten. Dying twice in a single day... it was almost impressive.
He replayed that final memory of the plains. His last recollection was of his chest being sliced open by an unseen, razor-sharp force.
His blood had erupted with frantic intensity; he had been like a human fountain. Yet, the identity of his killer remained a total mystery.
Even now, the phantom sensation of that wound lingered on his skin.
Lu Ze was severely disoriented. Had it been a transmigration, or was he merely caught in a fever dream? Could a dream possibly feel this visceral?
While he pondered this, his focus drifted, and he felt a strange, jarring resonance within his mind.
He quickly settled into a cross-legged position, calming his thoughts. After a moment, he perceived a tiny, three-dimensional void within his consciousness. There, floating peacefully, were the two red orbs.
“Are these the same orbs gathered from that white beast?” Lu Ze murmured, his confusion deepening into wonder.
Was this a transmigration cheat?
Was he truly the protagonist of this new world?
With a mere thought, the two spheres drifted out from the void and manifested in his palms.
They felt weightless, yet possessed a soft, lingering warmth.
Lu Ze peered at the glowing objects, his eyes alight with curiosity. What were they? And, more importantly, how was he meant to utilize them?
A moment later, he grabbed his phone. He hovered over his father's contact before editing the name to 'Dad'.
He would risk eating one to gauge its effects. As a man, he had few fears regarding food. If his stomach rebelled, he would simply call for backup.
Without further hesitation, he bit down and swallowed the red orb. A faint crimson glow sparked within, turning into a tide of warmth that flooded his system. His skin began to flush with heat, resembling a stoked furnace. Lu Ze immediately engaged his basic body refinement Cultivation method, directing the potent energy to catalyze his progress.
The first three stages of martial training involved skin, muscle, and tendon refinement. Lu Ze had already completed these stages, yet this energy ignored the standard path; instead of moving to his bones, it flooded his surface, reinforcing his skin once more.
Lu Ze realized that this energy possessed an innate ability to patch flaws. His initial skin refinement had been imperfect, and now, he was correcting every shortfall.
Dead cells shed away, leaving his skin tighter and more resilient. The tissue regenerated, pulsating with a healthy, faint luster. This was the pinnacle of perfect skin refinement.
An hour passed before Lu Ze opened his eyes, brimming with exhilaration. He retrieved the second orb and consumed it without a moment’s delay.
The process of refinement continued...
...
The sun climbed higher, casting a faint, crimson hue across the world. The star above was significantly larger than Earth’s, and because Lan Jiang orbited so closely, the dawn looked far more massive and dramatic.
Accompanied by the chorus of birds, a gentle, morning breeze drifted into his room.
Lu Ze opened his eyes, a spark of resolve hidden within them. Those two spheres had allowed him to perfect his skin refinement. Although he had only finished half of the total process, his physical strength was exponentially greater than it had been a day ago. If he met those rabbits again, the fight would be far more manageable.
His mind returned to those mysterious orbs. It was a pity; would he ever find a way back to that dimension?
