"Let's commit suicide!" Lu Ze shouted, realizing it was the only way to trigger a revival and guarantee their survival.

Just then, a surge of starlight washed over them, restoring their ability to move. Lu Ze seized the moment, pulling the girls away to safety. "Star Spirit Emperor!" the Mechanical Emperor spat coldly.

"Why do you interfere?"

The Star Spirit Emperor replied with equal indifference, "My people are among them. Do you intend to slaughter them?"

The Mechanical Emperor glared at the Star Spirit Emperor. "You are fully aware that these individuals are extraordinary! Their power operates on an essence fundamentally distinct from our own."

We were lucky that the Star Spirit Emperor had no designs on us. If any other emperor had discovered us, the outcome would have been catastrophic."

Nangong Jing nodded in solemn agreement. "We must resume our cultivation immediately."

"Exactly," Lin Ling added, her voice cold. "We cultivate until we reach the emperor level, then we hunt down the Mechanical Emperor first." They had been a hair's breadth away from being captured alive.

Suddenly, the ambient starlight coalesced into a familiar figure. Lu Ze and the girls visibly relaxed. "Star Spirit Emperor, we are deeply grateful for your intervention just now," Lu Ze said sincerely.

The Star Spirit Emperor gave a small shake of his head before turning his attention toward Ying Ying. "You have my thanks for watching over my kin. You have done a wonderful job, and naturally, I will reward you for this."

Ying Ying stared at the Star Spirit Emperor with wide, curious eyes. Although her internal heritage contained fragments of information about him, this was her first time witnessing his presence. To her, the Star Spirit Emperor felt like a venerable elder.

Lu Ze smiled warmly. "Ying Ying is part of our family; taking care of her is only natural."

"Hahaha!" the Star Spirit Emperor let out a hearty laugh. "Family—that is a noble thing. I trust you will continue to look after her well."

Lu Ze and the girls felt their hearts settle at last, having feared that the Star Spirit Emperor might simply reclaim Ying Ying.

The Star Spirit Emperor began to speak as if to himself. "This universe teeters on the edge of utter annihilation. Perhaps you are the ones who can offer salvation." Lu Ze and the girls gasped. "The universe is near destruction?"

The Star Spirit Emperor sighed. "Living beings incessantly hunger for greater power. That is not in itself a vice, but the universe cannot withstand such unrelenting exhaustion. If this continues, the delicate balance will vanish the moment any emperor ventures even a step further. When that happens, the universal barrier will collapse, and the chaotic entities from beyond will flood in, drowning the universe in catastrophe."

Lu Ze and the girls were utterly stunned. Having never ventured to the borders of the universe, they struggled to grasp the scale of such a disaster. To them, the concept of sustainable development had never before seemed so critical.

The Star Spirit Emperor added, "Continue your cultivation, especially you. Your Qi is the most anomalous one yet. The very essence of your power does not originate from within this universe. Perhaps you may be the ones to reach the beyond."
