Peach Blossom Divine Medical God Chapter 1985 - 1965: Backup Support
Previously on Peach Blossom Divine Medical God...
"Director Ma, you didn’t summon me here merely for this, did you?" Chen Yang directed his question towards Ma Jiantao.
Ma Jiantao affirmed with a nod, "Indeed, the primary reason I’ve requested your presence today is for your assistance in collaborating with Lisa and her team to successfully conclude their mission."
"In what capacity should I assist?"
Chen Yang inquired directly, valuing efficiency.
"Our intelligence indicates that several individuals associated with the Five Poisons Cult have been conspicuously active at a local bar within the county recently."
"Preparations have been made, and our personnel are currently monitoring the establishment. However, given the formidable nature of the Five Poisons Cult members, I felt it prudent to request your backup support."
"Furthermore, your medical expertise could prove invaluable should any unforeseen circumstances arise, ensuring that we emerge without any casualties."
Ma Jiantao elaborated on his strategic outline.
Upon absorbing the information, Chen Yang grasp the core of the request.
"Director Ma, surely you possess a degree of confidence in Lisa and her team? Apprehending a few ordinary cult members should not pose an insurmountable challenge, correct?" Chen Yang quipped with a smile.
Ma Jiantao mirrored his smile but shook his head, stating, "While I have confidence in other matters, the Five Poisons Cult operates with an unnerving level of mystery, and their methods of poison are incredibly unorthodox. My concern lies with potential mishaps, hence my urgent request for your assistance."
"Very well, simply provide me with the location, and I shall depart immediately."
Chen Yang readily agreed with a smile.
"Excellent."
Without further delay, Ma Jiantao promptly furnished Chen Yang with the precise location.
Equipped with the destination details, Chen Yang swiftly departed the hospital and made his way towards the bar.
As night descended, the bar buzzed with peak activity, a throng of vehicles and people flowing in and out.
Upon entering the establishment, Chen Yang surveyed the surroundings and quickly identified Xiao Hu seated at a corner table, precisely as Ma Jiantao had described.
To ensure the seamless execution of this operation, Ma Jiantao had strategically divided them into several small, specialized teams.
Each team was assigned distinct responsibilities.
The primary contingent, composed of Xiao Hu and a few others, was tasked with covert surveillance from within the bar.
Their objective was to identify the targets immediately upon their appearance and seize an opportune moment for apprehension.
"You… Chen Yang? What brings you here?" The burly Xiao Hu expressed his surprise at Chen Yang’s sudden appearance.
"Director Ma dispatched me to lend support to your operation," Chen Yang stated plainly.
"Wow, Director Ma truly lacks faith in us, doesn’t he? Dealing with mere members of the Five Poisons Cult requires your presence?" Xiao Hu remarked with a touch of exasperation.
"Refrain from overthinking it. Director Ma is merely acknowledging the unique nature of the Five Poisons Cult. Since I possess medical skills, he specifically requested my presence as a precautionary measure," Chen Yang explained, speaking on behalf of Director Ma.
Having not seen each other for some time, Xiao Hu and his companions had already attained the Qi Refinement Realm.
Having recently achieved this breakthrough, they were naturally eager to demonstrate their enhanced capabilities.
"I comprehend." Xiao Hu smiled after listening to Chen Yang’s explanation. "Director Ma’s planning is indeed meticulous, for a poisoned individual could indeed present a significant complication."
Chen Yang smiled and then inquired about the current situation.
"I’ve already assessed the situation: several members of the Five Poisons Cult are concealed within this bar, masquerading as ordinary staff. However, it is not yet the peak business hour, so they have yet to reveal themselves," Xiao Hu reported.
"Ah, I see."
"Indeed." Xiao Hu glanced at his watch. "Within the next thirty minutes, as the crowd swells, they are bound to emerge."
"Understood. In that case, I shall await their arrival alongside you."
Upon learning that the wait would not be protracted, Chen Yang chose not to leave their table, electing to remain with the team.
The ambient rhythmic music of the bar and the occasional sip of a drink created a surprisingly tranquil atmosphere.
Nevertheless, their gazes continuously swept across the bar’s main hall, scrutinizing every unfamiliar face.
"Brother Hu, they have arrived."
Before long, a hushed voice emanated from a secluded corner of the bar.
Heeding the signal, Chen Yang and Xiao Hu swiftly shifted their attention in that direction.
They observed two individuals attired in bartender uniforms adjusting their work attire near the entrance before proceeding with smiles to serve the patrons inside.
"That’s them!" Xiao Hu’s eyes narrowed with a cold glint as he fixed his gaze upon the pair.
"Should we apprehend them directly now, or await a more opportune moment?" someone inquired.
"There is no need to wait; we act immediately," Xiao Hu declared decisively.
"Understood!"
Taking the lead, Xiao Hu, accompanied by a few others, rapidly advanced towards the two individuals posing as bartenders.
Chen Yang positioned himself as a supporting element, intending to intervene only if Xiao Hu and his team encountered insurmountable difficulties; consequently, he initially maintained a position of observation, refraining from advancing with Xiao Hu.He observed Xiao Hu and his team swiftly converging on the two bartenders, completing their encirclement within moments. Their formation was airtight, sealing off any potential escape routes for the apprehended duo. Seemingly aware of their predicament, the two bartenders attempted a desperate maneuver, splitting up and heading in opposite directions. However, Xiao Hu's assembled group had anticipated this, tightening their cordon and rendering any attempt at escape futile. Fate, it seemed, had other plans as one of the bartenders stumbled directly into Xiao Hu. "Ah... apologies, sir," the bartender stammered, forcing a smile and feigning ignorance as he addressed Xiao Hu. Towering over the man, Xiao Hu fixed him with an intense glare. "Sir, is there anything you require? I'm here to provide service," the bartender continued, stubbornly maintaining his pretense. Yet, Xiao Hu's certainty was unwavering; there was no possibility he would allow this man to escape so easily. "No service is needed, you will come with us," Xiao Hu declared, firmly grasping the bartender's shoulder. The bartender's amiable facade shattered instantly. In a sudden, unexpected move, he produced a dagger, its blade glistening with potent poison, and drove it towards Xiao Hu's midsection.
