Ethan and Regalina enjoyed their honeymoon, but soon it was time for Ethan to travel to the Eldorian Empire for his new title. Facing travel delays, Ethan and Gu Cheng opted for a faster, albeit riskier, spatial journey. Upon arrival at the Imperial Capital, they were immediately stopped by suspicious guards who didn't believe their identities. After a failed attempt at bribery, Ethan learned of Duke Alaric and decided to seek him out, vanishing before the guards' eyes.

Duke Alaric hurried toward the gate, where he finally saw Ethan and Gu Cheng standing together. The moment he approached them, he put on a warm smile and bowed slightly, greeting them with great enthusiasm.

"Lord Ethan! I sincerely apologize for keeping you waiting. I didn't know you had arrived, and I hope you won't take offense at the way you were treated."

He then turned toward Gu Cheng and greeted him with equal respect, not daring to neglect the person standing beside Ethan.

Ethan watched Duke Alaric's humble behavior, and the corner of his mouth twitched slightly. He coughed into his hand, feeling a little awkward at how excessively polite the Duke was being.

After all, he hadn't come here to cause trouble.

However, Duke Alaric had his own reasons for acting this way.

He had personally witnessed Ethan's strength on the battlefield. Even if Ethan wanted to step on him, there was nothing he could do about it. Ethan's strength was enough to deter several Transcendent Ranks, and in front of such a monster, Alaric was practically nothing.

Moreover, there had been a subtle grudge between them the last time they met. Now that an opportunity had appeared, Alaric wanted to smooth things over properly before any misunderstandings could arise.

"Duke Alaric, you don't need to behave like that."

Ethan waved his hand, trying to ease the awkward atmosphere.

"I wasn't offended."

Hearing this, Duke Alaric finally relaxed a little. However, he still maintained a respectful expression as he listened to Ethan explain the reason for his visit.

The moment he heard about the guards at the city gate, Duke Alaric's expression changed.

"How dare they?"

His voice rose in anger, and he slammed his hand against the table.

"Did these guards have their brains filled with shit?"

He immediately turned toward his subordinates, looking as though he was about to issue an order.

"I will immediately order them to be punished."

"No, no..." Ethan quickly waved his hand. "You don't need to do that. Just pass the message about your presence to the Imperial Authority."

Duke Alaric paused for a moment before his expression returned to normal. He nodded and smiled.

"That's quite simple."

He then turned toward Ethan and asked, "Lord Ethan, have you arranged your lodging yet?"

Ethan paused for a moment before shaking his head.

"Not yet. I haven't really thought about it."

Hearing this, Duke Alaric immediately stood up from his seat.

"Then what are we waiting for?"

He turned toward the servants and began issuing instructions, ordering them to prepare suitable lodgings for Ethan and Gu Cheng. He also made sure that everything they might need during their stay was arranged.

After giving his orders, Duke Alaric turned back toward Ethan with a warm smile.

"Lord Ethan, please stay in my humble abode. I won't hear anything else."

Ethan looked at the Duke's earnest expression and couldn't help but feel a little helpless.

'This guy is really going all out.'

Ethan looked at Duke Alaric for a moment before glancing at Gu Cheng. The latter seemed completely relaxed as he looked around the residence with curiosity. Ethan sighed and nodded.

"Then I will have to trouble you for a while."

"It is no trouble at all," Alaric immediately replied. "You are going to become one of the most important nobles in Eldorian. It would be my honor to host you."

Ethan's mouth twitched slightly. 'One of the most important nobles? I haven't even received the official documents yet.'

Gu Cheng, however, seemed more interested in the residence itself. He looked at the decorations, the paintings and the magical lamps placed along the walls. Unlike Ethan, he had never lived in a noble society like this before, so everything was new to him.

"Sir Ethan, this place is quite interesting," Gu Cheng said.

Alaric looked at him with curiosity.

"This is?"

Ethan remembered that Alaric had not met Gu Cheng before. He calmly introduced him.

"This is Gu Cheng. He is a friend of mine."

Gu Cheng cupped his hands.

"Greetings, Duke Alaric."

Alaric quickly returned the gesture.

"Greetings, Sir Gu Cheng."

He looked at Gu Cheng for a moment. There was something strange about this man. His bearing was different from the people he had met before. Alaric could not explain it, but Gu Cheng carried an ancient and calm feeling.

'Another powerful person around Ethan?' he wondered.

He quickly stopped himself from thinking too much about it.

It was better not to ask questions about Ethan's friends unless Ethan wanted to explain them himself.

"Please, both of you, follow me. I have already instructed the servants to prepare the rooms."

The three of them walked deeper into the residence.

As they walked, Ethan noticed several servants rushing around to prepare everything. Some carried fresh clothes while others arranged food and drinks.

Ethan couldn't help but feel slightly awkward.

"Duke Alaric, you really don't need to prepare so much. We are only staying for a short while."

"That won't do," Alaric replied seriously. "You have travelled a long way. At least allow me to show proper hospitality."

Ethan sighed.

'This guy really changed after the battle.'

Not long ago, there had been a subtle tension between them. Now Alaric was treating him almost like a distinguished guest of the Imperial Family.

But Ethan could understand the reason.

Power changed how people treated you.

He had already experienced it many times.

They soon reached a large guest room. It was spacious and comfortably furnished, with a large bed, a sitting area and a balcony overlooking the garden.

"This will be your room, Lord Ethan."

Ethan looked around and nodded.

"It's good."

Gu Cheng was given a room beside his.

After the servants left, Ethan sat down on the sofa and let out a small breath.

"Finally."

Gu Cheng sat opposite him.

"You seem tired."

"A little," Ethan replied. "Travelling by tearing up space isn't as convenient as I thought."

Gu Cheng smiled.

"You are already quite skilled at it. You only need to become more familiar with the world."

"That's the problem. I don't know where half of these places are."

Ethan leaned back.

"We ended up appearing in some strange places several times."

Gu Cheng chuckled softly.

"At least we arrived safely."
