Ethan took a brief pause and asked, "Can you repeat that again?"
Count Alaric smiled as he saw Ethan and the others' reactions. He seemed to have expected their surprise, so he calmly reached into his coat and took out a neatly folded imperial edict. The document was sealed with the royal crest of Eldorian, and its edges were lined with golden patterns.
"Of course, Lord Ethan. Allow me to formally convey Her Majesty's proclamation."
Alaric carefully unfolded the edict and cleared his throat before reading it aloud.
"By the authority of Her Majesty, Queen Ophelia of the Eldorian Empire, and with the agreement of the other Emperors, Ethan Blanks is hereby granted the noble title of Duke of Eldorian. From this day onward, the County of Blanks shall be elevated to the Duchy of Blanks, and its lands shall be recognised as a ducal territory under the authority of House Blanks."
He paused briefly before continuing.
"Lord Ethan Blanks shall hold the rights and responsibilities of a Duke and shall be granted authority over the western part of the Arcadia continent as stipulated in the imperial agreement. The relevant officials are hereby ordered to recognise his title and assist in the formal establishment of the Duchy. All matters concerning the transfer of authority, territorial administration and noble privileges shall be handled in accordance with imperial law."
After finishing the proclamation, Count Alaric carefully folded the edict and placed it on the table before Ethan.
"Congratulations, Your Grace. Her Majesty has officially recognised you as a Duke of the Eldorian Empire."
Sophia and Rina exchanged glances before turning toward Ethan with bright smiles.
"Congratulations, Ethan!"
"Congratulations,Ethan!" Sophia cheered, unable to hide her excitement.
Ethan nodded at their congratulations, though his expression soon turned solemn as he looked toward Count Alaric.
"I have a doubt about this."
"Please speak freely, Your Grace," Alaric replied, straightening his posture.
"If I am the Duke, then what about Duke Lancelot?"
Alaric nodded as if he had expected the question.
"The Court had talked about putting you in the Duke's position. There are several positions vacant under you, and they would be filled soon. You can write a letter of recommendation to Her Majesty."
Ethan nodded thoughtfully, understanding the arrangement. The matter of the vacant positions would need to be dealt with later, but he didn't intend to make any decisions in haste.
The two exchanged a brief conversation about the proclamation and the arrangements that would follow. Ethan then instructed the servants to arrange suitable lodging for Count Alaric and his attendants. He also ordered them to provide special treatment for the guests and ensure they had everything they needed during their stay.
After the arrangements were made, Alaric expressed his gratitude and was escorted away by the servants.
Ethan's expression turned a bit solemn hearing envoy conditions for appointment.
As soon as the envoy had left, Sophia suddenly jumped up from her seat and looked at Ethan with sparkling eyes.
"Ethan... You are now a Duke! From Baron to Duke, who can believe it? And going like this, won't that mean you might have an emp..."
Before she could finish speaking, Ethan quickly reached out and closed Sophia's lips with his hand.
He already knew what she was trying to say.
'This lass is always dreaming about rebellion.'
Rina chuckled at the sight and wrapped one of her arms around Ethan's.
"So, Your Highness, what should you do now?"
Ethan thought for a moment before answering with a solemn expression.
"Now that I am a Duke, I should throw a party, and during this, I should marry Regalina."
"That's great!" Sophia chimed in, her eyes lighting up again.
Rina smiled, but after a brief pause, she seemed to remember something and asked, "About Sir Lancelot and others?"
Ethan's expression turned serious as he considered the matter.
"I will go and talk with Sir Lancelot first," Ethan spoke with a solemn face.

Duke Lancelot sat in his office with his son, Rake, who was busy tallying the losses from the recent war. Several documents were spread across the table, including reports about the soldiers who had died, the weapons that had been destroyed, and the resources they had lost during the battle.
Although Lancelot hadn't personally participated in the war, he had sent many of his men to fight alongside the allied forces. Unfortunately, most of them had perished in the battle, leaving their families behind.
Rake looked through the final report and let out a heavy sigh before speaking.
"Father, these are the total losses we suffered during the war. The number of soldiers who died is quite high, and the cost of replacing our lost equipment will also be considerable."
Lancelot glanced at the documents before waving his hand dismissively.
"Compensate them well."
Rake paused and looked at his father. He had expected such a response, but there was still something weighing on his mind. After hesitating for a moment, he finally asked, "But Father, are you sure our status would be taken? You are a Transcendent Knight and one of the very best. On top of that, you also played your part in dealing with the families. I am sure they won't do anything to harm us."
Lancelot leaned back in his chair and looked at his son with a faint frown.
"You are being naive, Rake."
He stood up and walked toward the window, looking out at the vast territory that had been under his family's control for decades.
"A new Lord brings his own people. I am sure this entire place would be handed over to someone new to facilitate the administration. Our days of being nobles might end soon."
Rake's expression changed as he heard this. He had always assumed that his father's position and strength would be enough to preserve their family's status, but Lancelot seemed to have already accepted the possibility of losing everything.
"Then what about Ethan?" Rake asked curiously.
