The gods, enraged by repeated trickery, unleashed their full power against the challengers. Despite their best efforts, the ten fighters were overwhelmed, and Vritra's puppet was destroyed. As the sun god moved to finish off another challenger, Vritra unexpectedly reappeared, having absorbed the sun god's own heart to resurrect himself. He revealed a new rule allowing challengers twenty resurrections, a rule seemingly created moments before and now written into the official list.

It took a few seconds for the gods to compose themselves; the two back-to-back surprises were really unexpected.

The sudden shift left even the audience struggling to follow.

And that was enough time for Vritra to attack the book god, helping Teresa out of the encirclement.

That brief opening came from timing rather than simple luck.

For a moment, everything had stopped; there wasn't even a sound.

The arena seemed frozen under the weight of that moment.

"Nineteen more lives, not bad. But that isn't enough to change the outcome, we just need to kill you all a few more times." The baby god said, clumsily counting over his fingers.

That childish expression made the threat seem strangely unsettling now.

"And for such a big move, it seems he has already exhausted himself. Let's-" the smallest god grinned, but was interrupted.

Vritra shook his head, speaking: "Why would I have sneaked up on the sun god instead of secretly taking out another god, if not for stealing his energy?"

[Forbidden Writ: The Gods cannot use anything obtained from others.]

The announcement spread through the arena with an oppressive force.

Just as the new rule was announced, Vritra felt an extreme exhaustion, his energy reserves emptying, and even his body started to crack apart.

To create that last rule, he had used mostly the sun god's energy, but now, he had no other choice.

Then he took out a small glowing fruit-like pill and tossed it into his mouth; his body healed and his mana regenerated.

The relief was temporary, but it gave him another chance.

Although he had some more pills, he could not keep creating such big rules, as to keep them working, he would have to continuously exhaust his mana, mental energy, and more.

Still, the effect of this new rule was wonderful.

Everyone could see that the new rule had changed everything.

All the gods' images disappeared in an instant, and various things they had borrowed in advance also turned into smoke.

The battlefield became emptier in the blink of an eye.

Only things they had created remained; fortunately for them, the talismans were one of them.

'Now I truly have nothing more to surprise them with. Although it has become less problematic, their side is still stronger.'

Vritra thought as he and the sun god once again faced one another.

Neither of them gave the other time to recover fully.

He could create one more rule, but it couldn't be a major rule.

But if he went for the fourth, then Vritra wasn't even sure if this puppet body could handle it.

It just might explode on the spot.

He decided not to experiment unless necessary, and thus the war broke out again.

The pressure from every direction continued to weigh upon them.

The situation now wasn't as hopeless, but they were still being pushed towards defeat.

Among the audience, the sparrow groaned and sat back down but still maintained a confident smile.

His smile remained firm despite the pain he had felt.

Gunter and Ava heaved a sigh of relief, but were still tense nonetheless.

They knew the danger had only been delayed, not removed.

BOOM!

Vritra's full-power punch landed squarely on the sun god's throat; his chest still had a gaping hole.

Every exchange sent ripples through the unstable space around them.

At the same time, the sun god's burning fingers tore into Vritra's flesh, turning his blood into his own sun energy.

"Explode!" he shouted, as Vritra almost exploded but used Blood Manipulation.

He could barely use Dust and Blood Manipulation; still, it was enough to avoid that strike.

Neither side showed any intention of slowing down yet.

In another region, Teresa and Yasmine worked together to subdue the book god, whose fighting style was really strange.

This strange battle gave them little chance to coordinate properly.

Teresa had prepared all sorts of treasures, but it was proving to be difficult to defeat him.

Two giants, one bald and one burly, were fighting as loud booming sounds reverberated everywhere. They were engaged in pure strength combat.

Neither giant showed signs of backing down from this clash.

Shitless was a bit lacking compared to the eyeless god, but wasn't getting injured, able to hold him back at most.

Fiona had now transformed into an enormous phoenix; she still couldn't match the size of the biggest god but was nearly a fifth of his size.

The blood-red undying flames engulfed the two, but the biggest god was able to crack space and even his body to get rid of them.

Her flames continued burning with terrifying, relentless persistence around them.

It had turned into a tug of war, as if both sides were competing over who had more mana.

It was hard to know exactly what the situation was with Maeve and the shadow goddess, their battle surrounded by darkness.

The darkness made that region impossible for others to observe.

Both had met their match.

Similar was the case for Vanessa; she couldn't defeat the instrument goddess but was matching her strength.

The fight could go on for a long time, but Vanessa knew it would be her in the end who would lose.

Her movements remained steady despite the worsening situation around her.

On the other side, Diana and Yennefer had at some point moved into a single region and were fighting against the duo of the baby god and smallest god.

Their combined presence made that battlefield especially dangerous for everyone.

And the two gods were supplementing each other's abilities.

Noticing this, Vritra frowned and felt that the gods were for some reason trying to push them all closer.

The feeling grew stronger as their movements became increasingly coordinated.

And without a doubt, they were succeeding.

'Have they set some sort of trap here? Or is it for a special attack?' Vritra wondered, but couldn't do much.

After a few minutes, he got his answer.

It was both of them.

Just as the ten of them entered a single region, they all noticed sudden changes.

The confinement happened so quickly that they could not react.

Firstly, they were all locked inside, unable to leave no matter what tactic they used.

Even Yennefer's Null ability wasn't working; it was as if they had been banished into that space.

Their usual methods failed one after another, leaving no opening.

Not even Time Ability worked.

The gods were clearly prepared.

"It seems they are going to use a big move." Yennefer spoke, frowning, already sensing the vast amount of mana gathering into one point.

"We cannot leave, so let's set up as many barriers as possible." Red flames burst out of Fiona's body as she spoke.

But Yennefer's words made her pause.

"It is useless, this attack cannot be hindered by any barrier." She had used Null to deduce that.

"Then… Then I will take the brunt and stop it, surely the barrier around me can stop it." Yasmine asked, looking tense and determined.

Yennefer paused for a moment, after checking all the possible outcomes, she shook her head.

"Yes, you won't be harmed, but even if we stand behind you, we will still be struck. There is no way to stop it."

Of course, those gods had already seen how none of their attacks were working against Yasmine, so they put extra effort into this.

"It is alright, there are still 19 lives remaining. After this attack, we will still have 10 lives. I don't believe they can use it many times." Diana spoke, trying to be optimistic.

SIGH

They didn't even have long to discuss as a gigantic cannon made of clouds appeared outside.

The air itself trembled as the enormous cannon took shape.

It was packed with high-density unknown energy, with power more than enough to kill them.

Is there no way to avoid it?

The question lingered, but no answer came to any of them.

Their current capability was certainly not enough for this, but had Divine and Evelyn not done something either?

Vritra couldn't use the Forbidden Writ for this either; if the gods used this attack again, they would be completely powerless.

What then?

Each of them thought of every possible way, but they couldn't think of anything.

Their silence showed that everyone had reached the same conclusion.

It seemed they could only trade the extra lives for this attack; this exactly must have been the gods' plan.

To nullify the rule set by Vritra.

"Now face this, let me see how many extra lives you can use. Especially for you, I have prepared a total of six such attacks!" the sun god laughed joyfully.

Such six powerful attacks made them lose nearly all of their gathered treasures, but it was worth it.

They had committed everything to ensure that this strike landed.

Although the gods had complete confidence, they prepared for all sorts of situations.

Even using such a powerful attack that could threaten even gods, facing this, even the gods themselves would be in great trouble.

The destructive energy made the surrounding space twist and shudder.

'But thankfully we aren't the ones facing this.' The gods laughed as the cannon began to shake.

Most people in the audience were overjoyed; one was especially happy. It was none other than the sparrow like higher being.

He was clapping and laughing.

But suddenly he felt a chill and froze, cold sweat trickled down his back as terrifyingly strong killing intent almost suffocated him.

Who was it? He looked around in fright but there was no one.

Evelyn averted her gaze, she had almost killed that sparrow but will make sure to throw him in the jail later.

Six?! Vritra and the rest felt their hearts stir, was it bragging or the truth?

There was a high chance that they really could fire it so many times, but they didn't have so many extra lives.

Just after the second attack, they would be almost out of lives, and on the third attack, they would die for real.

No matter how they counted, the result remained the same.

Their expressions turned grim, as they brainstormed to find a way to stop it.

'Two attacks will be stopped by extra lives, I can cancel one by Forbidden Writ, two if I sacrifice this puppet. That still leaves two attacks, what can I do?' Vritra couldn't find any solution.

If the gods succeeded, then only Yasmine would be left alive.

It was a dead end.

The gods on the other side exerted their full strength, going all out.

It was time!

"Go!!"

Everything became silent for a moment, everyone in the arena blinded.

The others too were silent, their thoughts racing without pause.

As the figures of all ten were devoured by the destructive pillar of energy.
