Gu Cheng was caught off guard by their sudden actions. He hurriedly raised his hand and gestured for them to stand straight, feeling somewhat uncomfortable with their gratitude.
"There is no need for such formalities. I merely used a small spell. You should return to your fields and make the most of the rain."
The villagers exchanged glances before thanking him once again. Although Gu Cheng tried to dismiss their gratitude, the relief on their faces made him feel a strange warmth in his heart.
Ethan patted his shoulder and looked toward the villagers, who were still celebrating the rain. He didn't say anything more, allowing Gu Cheng to enjoy the moment a little longer.
After a while, the two began walking away from the village. Gu Cheng glanced back once more at the fields, where the villagers were already working to guide the rainwater toward their crops.
"At least we were able to help them," Ethan said as he walked beside him.
Gu Cheng nodded, his expression becoming calmer. "Indeed. It is a good feeling to be able to help others with such a simple technique."
Ethan smiled faintly and continued walking with him as the sound of rain gradually faded behind them.
Ethan was about to say something when the crystal communicator in his pocket rang. He took it out and activated it, then listened to the message sent to him. After a few moments, he put the communicator away and looked at Gu Cheng with a gentle smile.
"It seems I need to go."
"Any problems?" Gu Cheng asked with a worried expression.
"Nothing troublesome. It's just a proclamation of my status."
Gu Cheng nodded, and the two of them tore through a spatial rift, reaching Blanks within a few moments.
As they arrived at Blanks, Ethan noticed the banners of the Eldorian Empire fluttering above the estate. A large group had gathered outside the mansion, and the sound of trumpets echoed through the air as a procession entered the grounds with great fanfare.
At the head of the procession was a well-dressed nobleman riding in a luxurious carriage. Several knights in polished armour marched alongside him, while servants and attendants followed behind, carrying gifts and various ceremonial items.
The envoy was Count Alaric Veymont, a nobleman from the Eldorian Imperial Court. He was a member of an old noble house with close ties to the royal family and had been entrusted with delivering an important imperial proclamation. His calm expression and dignified bearing reflected his years of experience in court affairs.
As the carriage came to a halt, Count Alaric stepped down and adjusted his coat before looking toward the mansion. He was greeted by Sophia and Rina, who had already come forward to receive the imperial envoy.
"Welcome to Blanks, Count Veymont," Sophia greeted him with a polite smile.
"It is an honour to visit the Blanks estate. I hope my arrival has not caused you any inconvenience," Alaric replied, bowing slightly.
"Not at all. We were already informed of your arrival. Please, come inside," Rina said, gesturing toward the mansion.
"Thank you, Lady Rina."
As they exchanged pleasantries, Alaric's gaze shifted toward the sky. He noticed a figure floating down from above, and his eyes widened slightly when he recognised Ethan.
Ethan landed gracefully before them and straightened his clothes.
"Count Veymont, I apologise for keeping you waiting."
Alaric immediately stepped forward and bowed respectfully.
"Lord Ethan Blanks, it is a pleasure to finally meet you in person. I have heard much about you, and I am honoured to be here on behalf of Her Majesty."
Ethan returned the greeting with a polite smile.
"The pleasure is mine, Count. Please, let us head inside and talk."
"Certainly, Lord Ethan."
The group then entered the mansion and made their way to the living room. The servants quickly prepared refreshments and placed them on the table before stepping aside. Count Alaric took his seat, while Sophia and Rina settled nearby.
Ethan picked up his cup and took a small sip before placing it back on the table. He then turned toward the envoy with a calm expression.
"Count Veymont, may I ask the reason for your visit? I assume Her Majesty has entrusted you with something important."
Alaric nodded and placed his hands neatly on his knees.
"Indeed, Lord Ethan. Her Majesty has entrusted me with an important imperial proclamation. I have come to formally deliver it to you and discuss the arrangements concerning your new title and the territory granted to House Blanks."
Ethan was taken aback for a moment upon hearing this.
Rina and Sophia stared at Ethan, wondering what arrangements had been discussed. They knew that Ethan had stayed back previously to discuss matters with the Emperor, but they didn't know the specifics. Neither of them had asked about it because, after returning from the war, Ethan hadn't visited the harem often.
And during his visits, it was usually for rigorous cultivation, which left his wives exhausted and unable to discuss other matters. As a result, they had little idea about what had been discussed between Ethan and the Emperor.
Ethan put down his cup and looked at Alaric with a slightly puzzled expression.
"What is the arrangement you are talking about?"
Though he retained a calm expression, he was a bit apprehensive inwardly. He wondered if his vision would be degraded or if there was something else he wasn't aware of. His fingers rested against the edge of the cup as he waited for Alaric's answer.
However, what he heard next shook him.
Alaric smiled politely and spoke, "It's about the proclamation of your noble title of Duke of Eldorian."
The words struck heavily in the ears of Ethan, Rina and Sophia, who were all taken aback momentarily. Ethan's eyes widened slightly, while Rina and Sophia exchanged surprised glances, unable to hide their shock.
For a moment, the living room fell silent as the three of them tried to process the unexpected announcement.
