"After coming to this world, I can't use divine sense. Every time I try to use it, I feel the heaven blocking my vision."
Henna, who was standing nearby, immediately became curious.
"Divine sense? What is it?"
Gu Cheng turned his eyes toward Ethan, not knowing what to say. He had already noticed that Ethan knew quite a few things about cultivation, so he wasn't sure how much he should explain.
Ethan gave him a faint nod.
Seeing that, Gu Cheng understood that Ethan had given him permission to explain.
"Unlike sense or intuition, Divine sense allows us to see for a certain range. You can actually see and hear everything encompassed by divine sense."
Gu Cheng raised his hand slightly as he explained, trying to make it easier for Henna to understand.
"Of course, the range depends on the strength of the cultivator. The stronger the cultivator, the farther the divine sense can spread. It is almost like extending your own awareness beyond your body. You don't need to physically travel somewhere to know what is happening there. As long as it is within the range of your divine sense, you can see the surroundings and hear the sounds within it."
Henna's eyes widened as she listened.
The more she heard, the more shocked she became.
Some Saintesses used to go blind after being exposed to the Goddess of Light for too long. Despite that, they could still see through a sense blessed by their ability. However, they could only see within a certain range, and it was nothing like what Gu Cheng was describing.
Hearing that cultivators could see things far beyond their physical sight and that they could also hear everything within that range left her shocked beyond words.
"How long can you see?" Ethan asked.
Gu Cheng rubbed his chin and thought for a moment before answering.
"I can't say for certain, but I can oversee the entire Capital and beyond the territories, up to that forest."
He pointed toward the distant forest.
Both Ethan and Henna gasped when they heard this.
Ethan stared at Gu Cheng for a moment.
Even though he already knew that cultivators possessed abilities far beyond normal people, hearing the actual range of Gu Cheng's divine sense still surprised him.
Henna's expression was even more serious as she looked toward the vast mountains and then back at Gu Cheng.
The difference between their senses and a cultivator's divine sense was far greater than she had imagined.
Both Henna and Ethan gave Gu Cheng a bewildered look, not knowing what to say. Things had already gone beyond the scope of their imagination, and every new thing they learned about cultivation only made the situation more difficult to understand.
Ethan stared at Gu Cheng for a moment and wondered where exactly he stood among cultivators.
Was he just a genius or a heaven-defying one?
If Gu Cheng was only a genius, then how strong were the protagonists of his world?
Ethan felt a slight headache just thinking about it.
"You said that after you entered this world you can't draw the energy."
Gu Cheng nodded.
"I wasn't able to at first, but those guys experimented with my spirit stones and found that the energy of this world can be converted into Qi of Heaven and Earth with slight difficulty." Gu Cheng answered.
Ethan's eyes brightened slightly.
"Do you have one now? Can I see it?"
"Let me check!"
Gu Cheng closed his eyes as if searching inside his storage ring. After a moment, he opened his eyes and took out two colourless white stones.
The stones looked somewhat like alum or rock salt. They were totally transparent, yet a faint refreshing smell seemed to come from them. Even without touching them, Ethan could sense something unusual inside.
Ethan grabbed one and gave the other to Henna.
As Ethan grabbed the stone, he immediately felt a strange energy emerge from it. The energy slowly extended into his body, but as soon as it entered, it started to clash with his mana.
The Qi from the spirit stone wasn't mixing with the mana. Instead, both energies churned inside his body and seemed to resist each other.
Ethan frowned and tried to manipulate his mana to engulf the Qi. However, the energy moved like a slippery eel and kept passing through his mana. No matter how he tried to control it, the effort became pointless and eventually gave him a slight ache in his head.
Then Ethan noticed something.
Slowly, the two energies started to settle down.
The Qi occupied the position above his mana, almost as if its volumetric energy density was lower than that of mana.
Ethan stared inwardly for a moment before thinking carefully.
He then decided to use Chaos to break through the difference between the two energies.
Ethan silently circulated a circle of Chaos power through his body. The dark energy moved around his body and slowly reached the place where the Qi and mana were separated.
To his surprise, the Qi started to break down and slowly assimilated below.
Ethan's eyes widened slightly.
He tried to mix the newly assimilated energy with his mana.
Surprisingly, it worked.
The two energies slowly blended together without the previous resistance.
While Ethan was doing all that, the energy inside the crystal dispersed. However, the amount he gained was only enough to fill a mouthful of his breathing circle.
Ethan opened his eyes and looked toward Henna.
She was staring at the spirit stone in her hand with brightened eyes. Her expression looked almost like a kitten that had just received a woolen ball.
So cute!
Ethan couldn't help but stare for a moment.
Gu Cheng also noticed Henna's expression and looked at her curiously.
Sensing both Ethan and Gu Cheng's gazes, Henna immediately coughed and put the spirit stone down. She tried to return to her usual calm expression as if nothing had happened.
"I think we have stalled enough. It's time to go down for business."
"Hmm!" Gu Cheng nodded.
Ethan looked at Henna and then asked, "Are you going alone? Aren't you going to call Sir Moreno?"
"He is busy. Moreover, with you two I am assured of my safety."
Ethan raised his brows slightly.
"You shouldn't trust others so much."
Henna glanced at him before turning toward the deeper part of Frostvele.
"What others? Stop wasting time. Let's go."
She gave Ethan a slight nudge and started moving forward.
Gu Cheng followed closely behind her while Ethan shook his head and followed them.
The three of them soon moved deeper into the Frostvele region.
The huge mountains gradually surrounded them as the familiar rocky landscape stretched farther ahead. Gu Cheng's expression also became more serious as he continued looking around.
