Gu Cheng explains his "Divine Sense" ability to Ethan and Henna, detailing its range and capabilities. He also demonstrates how spirit stones, though containing a different energy type, can be converted and used with his cultivation. Henna is fascinated by the stones. The trio then prepares to venture deeper into the Frostvele region for their business.

On their way, they arrived in a valley that had been destroyed brutally. The mountain slopes had been flattened while some places seemed to have been burned with scorching heat marks around the periphery. The ground was cracked and blackened in several areas and there were still faint traces of heat coming from the deeper parts of the valley. Broken rocks were scattered everywhere and some of the larger boulders had been melted from the intense heat.

"Something terrible happened here. We should be careful," Gu Cheng added with a frown.

Ethan thought for a moment and answered, "I fought a Lava Dragon here."

"…"

"…"

"You what?" Henna asked in a surprised tone.

"A Lava Dragon? When?"

Ethan scratched his chin while thinking for a moment. "I think it was 10-15 years ago or more than that when I was around Mythic stage. The sword I am using is made from scales and heart of the Lava Dragon."

While Gu Cheng maintained the same neutral face, Henna was startled. Her eyes widened as she looked at Ethan and then at the destroyed valley around them.

"You fought a dragon at Mythic stage and still survived... No, you won against it."

She gasped and did not know what to say.

Dragons were clearly a league of their own. Even in the same realm, they were almost undefeated due to their strong defenses and magical power that almost seemed limitless.

It was one thing to fight and defeat them but killing them was quite difficult.

"As expected of Brother Ethan. You are truly a peerless warrior," Gu Cheng praised faintly while looking at him.

Ethan's eyes twitched slightly.

'Should I tell them that I had help from Heliana?'

Just as he was considering things, Gu Cheng suddenly stopped and looked around. His expression became slightly more serious as he focused on his surroundings.

"I sensed it."

"Huh?" Ethan raised his eyebrows and looked at him.

"I meant about the place I come from."

Ethan's expression changed when he heard those words.

"It's there..." Gu Cheng pointed ahead and then looked at the three.

The next moment, the three of them shot out like a comet.

They crossed several hundred kilometres in a short time and finally arrived at a strange place.

The place was dry and barren compared to all the other areas around them. There were no trees or grass growing anywhere and even the small cracks in the ground were completely empty of life. The rocky ground stretched in every direction while strange black marks could be seen scattered across the surface.

What made the place even more odd was the complete lack of natural energy.

Frostvele was already a harsh region but there was still life in many places. However, this particular area felt completely different. It was as if something had sucked all the life out of the land and left nothing behind.

There were also several shallow pits scattered across the ground. Some of them were strangely smooth as if something had melted the rocks before leaving them behind. A faint smell lingered in the air and the surrounding space felt slightly distorted.

Gu Cheng stood still and looked around. His eyes moved across the barren land as he tried to match the place with the memories in his mind.

As Ethan looked around, Henna spoke, "I think this was the place we came to and blessed with the power of light. It should have been green but why is it barren."

Her brows furrowed as she looked at the lifeless ground. She clearly remembered what this place had looked like before.

Gu Cheng also lowered his gaze toward the ground and remained silent for a moment.

"This is the place," he finally said with certainty.

Ethan's expression became serious as he looked at the surroundings.

Gu Cheng continued looking around the barren land. His eyes moved from one place to another as he carefully observed the surroundings. He occasionally lowered his head and stared at the ground as if he was trying to sense something hidden beneath it.

"I can feel it?"

"Feel what?" both Ethan and Henna asked at the same time.

However, Gu Cheng was too occupied to answer. His expression became more serious as he suddenly moved swiftly across the area. He passed several rocky slopes and continued deeper into the barren region while carefully following the strange sensation he had detected.

Ethan and Henna followed him without wasting any time. They did not know what Gu Cheng had sensed but they could tell from his expression that he had found something important.

Soon, they arrived at the foot of a mountain where they felt strange energy fluctuations coming from within. The fluctuation was very faint but it was different from the natural energy around them.

Gu Cheng stopped and looked toward the mountain. He narrowed his eyes before stepping forward and placing his hand against the rocky surface.

The moment he sensed what was behind it, his expression changed.

He was shocked.

"There..."

Ethan and Henna followed his gaze and looked inside the mountain. However, all they could see was a normal mountain covered with rocks.

"Look behind..."

"We don't have divine sense like you... Wait a moment. You can use divine sense now?" Ethan asked in surprise as he suddenly realized what Gu Cheng had said.

His question made Gu Cheng pause.

He turned his head and looked at Ethan for a moment before closing his eyes and focusing again.

"Yes... I can use Divine Sense at this moment."

Ethan's expression became slightly serious. After coming to this world, Gu Cheng had clearly said that he could not use Divine Sense because the heavens were blocking his vision.

Yet now he could use it.

"Then follow me."

Gu Cheng stepped forward and raised his hand. His sword immediately appeared in his grip as faint sword Qi gathered around the blade.

He swung it toward the mountain.

A sharp burst of sword Qi shot forward and tore through the rocks. The mountain shook slightly as the sword Qi blasted a path through the solid stone.

Gu Cheng continued moving forward and cleared the rocks in front of them. Ethan and Henna followed behind him as they entered deeper into the mountain.

The deeper they went, the stronger the strange energy became.

Soon, the narrow path opened into a huge underground space.

Ethan and Henna stopped in their tracks.

A large crystal mine appeared before them.

Countless crystals were embedded inside the walls and floor. They were completely different from the mana crystals they were familiar with. They gave off a faint glow while strange energy slowly flowed through them.

"A mana crystal mine!" Henna asked as she stared at the huge mine in surprise.

"No, it's not mana crystals," Ethan said while narrowing his eyes.

He could clearly sense the change in energy around them.

The moment they entered this place, the mana inside his body had begun behaving differently. There was another kind of energy mixed within the air, and it was coming from the crystals.

Ethan slowly walked toward the nearest crystal and placed his hand against it.

His expression became more serious.

"This energy..." he muttered while carefully sensing it.

It was different from mana.

It was also different from the Qi he had felt from Gu Cheng's spirit stones.
