A short distance away from the Capital, Ethan and the others arrived at the place where the reinforcements sent by the Emperors had already gathered. Several groups of warriors stood across the open ground, each group carrying the insignia of a different Empire. Their armor was clean, their weapons were prepared and their expressions were serious as they waited for their orders.
The moment Ethan arrived, the warriors turned their attention toward him. Some of them had already heard about his strength, while others had only heard rumors about the battle. A few Transcendent Knights stood at the front of the group, clearly acting as the leaders of the forces.
Among them stood Sir Garran Valcrest, a Transcendent Knight from the Empire forces. He was a veteran warrior who had fought in countless battles and was currently responsible for leading part of the reinforcements.
Ethan walked toward them without any arrogance. He gave a warm smile and nodded respectfully.
"Thank you for coming all the way here."
Garran stepped forward and returned the gesture.
"Lord Ethan, there is no need to be so formal. We were ordered to assist you, so naturally we came."
Ethan smiled and looked across the gathered warriors.
"I know, but I still appreciate it. We will be working together from now on, so I hope we can cooperate without any problems."
Sir Garran gave a small smile.
"We didn't know we would be working again soon."
Ethan raised his eyebrows slightly.
Sir Garran nodded.
"After the battle, I thought we would finally get some time to rest. I certainly didn't expect another troublesome matter to appear so quickly."
Rathlos, standing behind Ethan, gave a tired sigh.
A few of the warriors smiled faintly at his words, and the tense atmosphere eased slightly.
Ethan then began introducing the people standing beside him.
"This is Duke Lancelot. He has been involved with Arcadia for a very long time and knows the situation better than most people."
Lancelot gave the warriors a respectful nod.
"Good to meet you all."
Ethan then gestured toward Rathlos.
"This is Rathlos. He handles most of the information and internal matters for us."
Rathlos adjusted his glasses and nodded.
"And this is Hall. He will be responsible for coordinating the information from our side."
Hall bowed silently.
Sir Garran looked at each of them before returning his gaze to Ethan.
"It seems we have quite a capable group."
Ethan smiled.
"We will need everyone we have. The forces inside the Capital are not as simple as they first appeared."
His expression became more serious as he looked toward the distant city.
"There are hidden forces inside, and some of them are different from ordinary soldiers. We don't know everything they have prepared yet."
Sir Garran's expression also became serious.
"Then we will follow your orders."
Ethan nodded."For now, don't make any unnecessary moves. We will observe the Capital first and then decide how to proceed."
Garran then smiled and spoke,"We also have help coming."
Ethan casted a curious glance.
....
Ethan stood with his arms folded as he looked toward the Imperial Capital. The city was heavily guarded, and the hidden forces of the four families had already started moving. If they waited any longer, the situation inside the Capital could become even more difficult.
He had already made his decision.
Before starting anything against the four families, he would rescue the Crown Princess and Prince Charles.
"Hall, we will enter through the underground channel."
Hall nodded immediately.
"I have already checked the route. It should lead us close to the Imperial Palace."
Ethan looked at Rathlos and Lancelot.
"Keep the forces outside the Capital for now. Don't make any moves until I return."
Lancelot frowned slightly.
"Are you going in alone?"
"I will take Hall with me, but I don't want a large group entering the Capital. The moment they notice something unusual, the entire city will become alert."
Rathlos adjusted his glasses and nodded.
"Then we will wait here."
Ethan turned toward the underground passage.
"Good. Let's get them out first, and then we can deal with the rest."
The entrance to the underground channel was hidden beneath an old building outside the Capital. Hall removed the barrier covering the entrance, and Ethan stepped inside without hesitation.
The passage was old and damp. Water had collected along the edges, and parts of the stone walls had already begun to crumble. They moved carefully through the narrow path while Hall checked the route against the map they had received.
They continued for some time before the passage finally began to rise.
Hall quietly pushed aside a broken stone barrier.
A faint light entered the passage.
They had reached the centre Capital.
Ethan carefully looked around before stepping out. The exit was hidden beneath an abandoned building near the Imperial Palace. There were guards moving through the nearby streets, but none of them noticed the two figures.
Ethan activated his power of concealment.
His presence slowly disappeared.
"Stay here," he whispered to Hall. "I will check the palace and bring them here."
Hall nodded.
Ethan moved forward without making a sound. He passed through the streets and crossed several guarded areas without being noticed. Whenever a guard came close, Ethan simply waited until the person passed before continuing.
The palace was heavily guarded.
But Ethan had already studied the information provided by Rina, and he knew which areas were being watched more closely.
After a swift search, he managed to locate the Crown Princess and Prince Charles.
They were being kept inside a guarded room in one of the quieter sections of the Imperial Palace.
Several guards stood outside the door.
Ethan approached them silently.
Before any of them could react, he moved.
One guard was struck on the back of the neck and collapsed silently. Ethan immediately caught him before his body could hit the ground. The second guard was dealt with just as quickly.
Within moments, all the guards outside had been knocked unconscious.
Ethan carefully opened the door and stepped inside.
The room was quiet.
At one corner, Crown Princess Elena was sitting on the ground with her arms wrapped around her knees. Her face looked tired, and her eyes had lost much of their former light.
Nearby, Prince Charles was walking back and forth restlessly.
He was only sixteen, but the situation had forced him to grow up quickly.
He suddenly stopped.
His eyes widened as he noticed the unfamiliar figure standing inside the room.
"Who?" Prince Charles asked aloud in shock.
Elena immediately raised her head.
For a moment, she simply stared.
Then her eyes widened.
"Lord Ethan!"
Her voice was filled with disbelief.
She quickly got to her feet, almost stumbling in the process.
The despair that had filled her eyes for so long suddenly vanished and newfound hope appeared in them.
She had been trapped inside the Capital with her son, surrounded by enemies and with almost no one left to rely on.
She had already prepared herself for the worst.
But now Ethan was standing before her.
"Sir Ethan..."
