The Emperors have agreed to Ethan's plan to control the four great families, granting him reinforcements and permission to act. Ethan has selected and contacted pawns within the families, ensuring their loyalty before preparing to move to the Capital. Meanwhile, the heads of the four families grow increasingly uncomfortable and impatient due to the week-long silence and lack of response from the Emperors.

"Even if that were the case, they should have sent someone."

Dorian leaned back in his chair, and a faint, almost devilish expression appeared on his face. "That just means they are either delaying things while researching about us or planning to destroy us."

The room became quiet again. Garrick's fingers slowly tightened around his arm as he looked toward Dorian."It seems they won't be taking us seriously until we show them some of our might."

Cedric glanced toward him. "Showing our might could also be seen as a threat."

Garrick gave a small nod. "I know."

His voice remained firm as he continued, "But sitting here and waiting while they decide our fate isn't going to help either."

Valen frowned and looked between them. "We already made our position clear. We don't want to fight them. We only want to preserve our families and the foundations we have built."

Dorian gave a low chuckle and looked down at the table. "That is exactly why they might be taking their time." He slowly raised his eyes toward the others.

"They know we don't want a war. Also they know that we have more to lose than they do." Cedric's expression became slightly darker.

"Then what do you suggest?" Dorian's smile faded as he answered, "We should wait a little longer."

Garrick frowned. "How much longer?" Dorian looked at him calmly.

"Until we know whether they intend to negotiate or whether they are preparing something else."

Cedric looked toward the window. The Imperial Capital was still under their control. Their people were stationed throughout the important areas, and for now, nothing appeared to be wrong. Yet that strange silence continued to bother him.

For some reason, he could not shake the feeling that something was happening beyond their sight.

"Perhaps we should assume they are already moving."

Garrick looked at him. "You mean they could be preparing an attack?"

Dorian shook his head. "I don't know." He paused for a moment before continuing, "But when powerful people remain silent for too long, it is usually because they are doing something we cannot see."

The four family heads exchanged serious looks. After a brief silence, Cedric slowly straightened in his chair. "I think we should strengthen the Capital."

The other three turned toward him.

Cedric looked at him for a moment, not immediately understanding what he meant.

Dorian continued before he could respond, "It shouldn't be only me. You all should also release some of your secret forces. We should start preparing to put on a show."

Garrick's expression became thoughtful. "You want us to reveal our hidden forces?"

Dorian nodded. "Not everything. Just enough to show that we are not helpless."

Valen slowly nodded as he understood his meaning. Dorian leaned forward and placed both hands on the table.

"The four Emperors have already suffered a terrible loss. I don't think they would want to add more. If we showcase some power, we might be able to deter them and push them to take a step back."

Cedric remained silent for a few moments. The idea was risky. Revealing too much could make them look hostile, but keeping all their forces hidden could make the Emperors believe they were easy to crush.

Garrick finally spoke, "It could work."

Valen looked toward him and said, "But it could also have the opposite effect."

Garrick nodded.

"I know. But doing nothing is also dangerous."

Dorian nodded slowly. "Exactly. We don't need to attack anyone. We only need to make sure they understand that destroying us will not be without a cost."

Cedric rubbed his chin while thinking. After a long pause, he finally nodded. "Fine. We will release some of our forces." His gaze moved across the other three. "But no one makes a move without informing the others." The three heads nodded in agreement.

"Agreed."

....

Ethan, Rathlos, Lancelot and Hall appeared near the outskirts of the Imperial Capital. They stood on a raised piece of land and looked ahead at the massive city. The walls of the Capital could be seen in the distance, but the area around them was strangely quiet. There were no ordinary soldiers moving around, and even the roads that once remained busy had become almost empty.

Hall stood a little ahead of them while observing the surroundings. His eyes moved from one place to another as he carefully checked the information gathered by their scouts. After a moment, Rathlos looked toward him with a serious expression.

"What have you found?" Rathlos asked.

Hall turned toward him and bowed slightly.

"Sir, we have sighted several humanoid beastmen controlled by men."

"Humanoid Beastmen?" Lancelot asked with a frown.

Hall nodded.

"I don't mean the usual beastmen. The ones I am talking about seem different. They are more fierce and cruel, and they don't seem to have any sense of reason."

Rathlos's expression became serious as he looked toward the distant Capital.

"How many?"

"We haven't been able to determine the exact number yet. They are keeping them hidden and only bringing them out when necessary."

Hall paused and looked toward the darker areas around the Capital.

"There are also other hidden forces."

"What kind?" Lancelot asked.

"We have noticed several groups moving through the shadows. Some are hiding inside buildings, while others are staying beneath the streets. We have also found signs of formations and hidden camps around the Capital."

Hall's voice became more cautious.

"They seem to have prepared for this long before we arrived. There are forces that haven't revealed themselves yet, and we cannot tell how many they have kept hidden."

Ethan had been silent until then. He slowly raised his head and looked toward the Capital.

A sneaky smile appeared on his face.

"Damn! I knew it."

Rathlos glanced toward him.

Ethan folded his arms and looked at the city with a thoughtful expression.

"These people had been in power for so long. There is no way they didn't have a trick up their sleeves."

Lancelot looked at Ethan with a slightly exasperated expression.

"What did you expect from the family that had been surviving for so long?"

Ethan turned toward him and shrugged slightly.

"It seems my decision to call for reinforcement was totally right."

Ethan's eyes then turned cold,"Let's start with cutting off their heads and assemble the forces."
