For people with preexisting paths, it was easy. They just had to form their own unique understanding of a Dao, make it their own, and then form an Inner World with that Dao, allowing the people inside it to cultivate that path.

But what about his path?

His 9th Rank had two distinctive ways, and neither allowed him to form an Inner World because neither side had a Dao Seed that could be turned into a real world.

The entire Dao Opening process was simple in principle. First, make a unique interpretation of the Dao you were comprehending and form a Lesser Dao. Then, transform the Transcendent Core into a River of Dao. Within it, make your Dao Seed transform into an Inner World with a complete space-time continuum where life could be born.

If he was being honest, he had no idea how he was going to achieve that. If he did anything wrong, then his fellow Pathstriders’ paths to transcendence would be permanently closed off because of his mistake.

He had to study this phenomenon thoroughly.

He had to study each path. Dao Opening was generally practiced by Immortals, but he also wanted to examine the Buddhist path.

He swiftly went to the Central Hub to find information about it and a few other paths. Once he found what he needed, he immediately returned to his Lesser Heaven.

He started with the Buddhist path.

A normal cultivator transformed their Transcendent Core into a River of Dao. A Buddhist Evolver shattered their core to form a Sea of Karma. They then had to use their Great Vow to purify this sea of mortal suffering. The purified energy would transform into a River of Merit, a golden stream that provided them with boundless Dharmic Power.

A Buddhist did not simply modify a rule of reality. They had to issue a Great Vow to the heavens. This vow became their personal truth and guided their entire cultivation path.

Instead of a Dao Seed evolving into a standard space-time continuum, a Buddhist used a Bodhi Seed. This seed was planted directly into their River of Merit. It sprouted and blossomed into a massive Golden Lotus. As the lotus petals unfolded, they tore open an internal dimension and created a Pure Land.

As for where the Bodhi Seed came from, the Buddhists had to retain their purity and enlightenment while forming comprehension of a Dao.

It was still Immortal cultivation, but with an extra, much harder step. However, that harder step naturally rewarded the Buddhists, making them stronger than their peers without a doubt.

"But in the end, the way they did it also remained the same."

"Perhaps even the Great Buddha couldn’t find a new way to reach this path without cutting off any future transcendence?" Grey was thoughtful.

He had created many miracles before, and if he could achieve what even the Buddha couldn’t, wouldn’t his Ascendancy Valor be above him?

Although he knew it wouldn’t be that simple, he couldn’t help but wonder if things could really be that way.

Then, he moved on to the Martial Path.

Here, it was similar to the Buddhist path, but for a martial artist, this method was the easiest and far too convenient.

Martial artists mainly dealt with lethal Daos, such as the Dao of Killing and the Dao of the Sword. As long as they had sufficient combat experience, they would be able to form an Intent.

Now what was an Intent? It was a merge between their understanding of the Dao and their Martial Arts.

Quite frankly, Martial Artists had it easier than others because, no matter what, each being would have their own unique set of martial arts. Even if the martial arts they possessed were a result of "Copy my homework but don’t make it obvious," they would still be treated as different.

An Intent would form no matter what, and once that formed, they too would form an Inner World and begin spreading their Intent.

But in the Martial Path, there was something special. Instead of cultivation, people and Evolvers used Intent to realize their potential and grow stronger.

The Buddhists, the Immortals, and the Martial Artists all opened their Dao in roughly the same way, but there were slight differences. Each path had its own unique method that made it clear that it was a distinct path.

This was Dao Opening.

"The theory is that if I form an Inner World and then make others follow a unique take on something, it should allow for transcendence. Right?"

"Not quite." The fragment of the Heavenly Dao appeared around him.

"It has to be a Dao."

"Hm." Grey fell silent upon hearing this.

It had to be a Dao?

"Is there really no other way?" Grey wanted to make his path unique, but the lack of knowledge about the ultimate leap was making it very difficult.

"This won’t do. I need to find the other parts of the Chaos Source Codex. Maybe it will have the necessary information about the Ultimate Leap and what caused true transcendence."

He knew about the different types of transcendence, but the information behind them was still vague.

Knowing and understanding were two different things, after all.

"Let’s get going. Sitting here won’t help us." Grey turned to the fragment and spoke. "On the way, we will find some Lesser Heaven fragments too."

"Alright." The fragment swirled around Grey as he returned to the Central Hub.

Speaking of which, he believed it was finally time for him to get his own Reality Ship.

He was already this high up in terms of level and strength. He couldn’t always bother Alan, could he?

Speaking of Alan, he was visiting the Mind Collective and was currently in the Central Hub.

But Grey didn’t disturb him. Instead, he went back to the Chaos Mine, took out some high-grade Chaos Stones, exchanged them for currency, and went to find some Reality Ships.

But halfway through, he realized something.

Couldn’t he just copy the ship’s blueprint and make his own custom one?
