Nexus Ascension: My Comprehension Defies the Heaven Chapter 458: An old friend or enemy?

~4 minute read · 1,095 words

"The kid did not do anything wrong. It was clearly just a minor misunderstanding. Is that not right, Mr. Errol?" Tian Yuan inquired with an underlying smile.

"..." Errol’s expression turned incredibly ugly when he heard this forced out.

But he quickly coughed, adjusted his expensive modern necktie, and nodded stiffly.

"I have pressing matters to attend to, Prime Judicator. I will be on my way now," Errol said gruffly. He shot a warning glance at Alissa.

Alissa briefly glanced at Grey, who was no longer looking at her, before quietly turning away. She followed Errol and quickly disappeared into the massive stadium crowd.

Seeing the dragons finally leave, Angela was just about to rush toward Grey. But before she could move, Anderson stopped her once again.

Because right now, the Prime Judicator, Tian Yuan, was actively walking toward Grey with a highly casual, relaxed look.

He smiled with a hint of hidden disdain as he slowly stretched his right hand out.

"I am Tian Yuan. Nice to meet you."

Seeing this highly unexpected gesture, Grey looked at the offered hand, then up at Tian Yuan’s face, before breaking out into a flawless, polite smile. He reached out and shook it.

"I am Grey Arclight. Nice to meet you too."

Everyone seeing this scene was stunned.

The judicator was shaking hands with a random kid?

And just as quickly, a sharp telepathic message drilled violently into Grey’s mind.

[A Fateless One does not bow before anyone. Not even a bunch of arrogant, oversized lizards. Do not disgrace the name of a Fateless One by acting so weak, you puny brat.]

Grey was genuinely bewildered when he heard this.

He was fully expecting Tian Yuan to say something hateful or launch a hidden attack. But it turned out to be a simple, highly arrogant warning?

And what exactly was wrong with this guy? Did his Chaos Lotus not ruthlessly beat him to a bloody pulp and erase his remains last time they met in the Blue Star? Did he seriously not care about that at all? Was he completely indifferent to mortal enmity?

But it seemed his supreme pride as a fellow Fateless One still remained intact.

[I know exactly what you are thinking. But do not think I am acting peaceful because I cannot kill you here, Grey. I very much can. But I am just letting you off the hook for right now. You are not worth my time yet.]

Grey’s polite smile unexpectedly widened when he heard this bold claim.

He seemed to have realized something crucial.

Tian Yuan smoothly withdrew his hand and turned to address the lingering crowd.

"Everyone, the grand tournament will officially begin in a few short hours. I believe it is time everyone dispersed and made their way to their designated stadium seating."

Hearing the Prime Judicator’s clear dismissal, the crowd immediately began to scatter.

Tian Yuan shot Grey one last, highly scrutinizing look before turning to leave. But right before he vanished, he transmitted one final thought.

[You are painfully weak right now. What a massive letdown.]

As soon as the terrifying man left the area, Angela rushed forward and hugged Grey tightly.

"Are you alright, Grey? Did he hurt you?"

"I am perfectly fine, Mom. Also, please stop hugging me in public like this. What the hell," Grey muttered, his lips twitching in mild embarrassment.

Although the main crowd had dispersed, their immediate family was still standing there.

Juli stepped forward with a deep frown on her porcelain face.

"Alissa..." she softly opened her mouth, highly confused. "Did she not know that you were my brother?" Juli asked in a bewildered tone, exactly as if she could not comprehend why her idol group partner had just allowed her brother to be bullied by a bigoted dragon.

Then, Anderson, along with the Emperor, the Empress, and their royal children, stepped closer.

"What exactly happened here, Grey?" Anderson asked with a heavy, disappointed frown.

If that dragon Errol was still harboring anger over this trivial matter, it could severely affect the political standing of the entire Aeonic Divine Kingdom. Anderson was thoroughly disappointed in Grey. His son had barely just landed on the Origin Planet and had already heavily offended a Dragon.

Grey clearly saw the deep disappointment in their eyes.

But he obviously could not say that the dragon attacked him strictly because he claimed Alissa as his family. The highly arrogant, racist dragon had grossly misinterpreted his words as a lowly human trying to falsely claim pureblood dragon heritage. He could not exactly explain that hidden context to his parents, could he?

Hence, he simply bullshitted his way through the interrogation. It was not like they were going to march up to Errol and demand the truth anyway.

"Be more careful next time," Anderson scolded with a heavy sigh.

"Okay, Dad," Grey replied with an innocent blink.

His mind, however, was not present in this conversation at all.

Tian Yuan’s sudden appearance and the specific fact that he did not outright attack him told Grey something vastly different than what was seen on the surface.

Something had fundamentally gone wrong with Tian Yuan or perhaps it was the world?

But one thing was sure, things have reached a point where the so-called Prime Judicator was actually unable to attack him here!

What could the real reason possibly be?

He was highly interested in finding out.

But then again, this was a clone, he knew that much, the real Tian Yuan was vastly more stronger than the copy he just saw. That, he was certain of.

But most importantly, he desperately needed to speak with Alissa in private.

Things in the crown expanse were vastly more complicated than he initially thought they would be. The cosmic world really was not just rainbows and sunshine.

Sighing internally, he followed his parents and the royal family into the grand tournament arena. They already had a luxurious VIP room pre-arranged for them.

Jeremiah and Jason had already gone ahead to prepare for their upcoming matches. Juli also left shortly after giving him some quick words of encouragement.

It was finally time for the Pan-Cosmic Tournament to commence.

"Huh... I feel like something incredibly bad is going to happen very soon," Grey thought to himself as he neared close to the stadium for the tournament with his family.

This was the similar feeling he used to receive when things are going bad.

Without a single second of hesitation, he activated his Fate Insight.
