Fu Hanzheng headed to the parking lot, climbed into his car, and drove back to Villa Number Seven alongside Yuan Meng.
Realizing they had returned to the morning's meeting spot, Gu Weiwei flat-out refused to leave the car.
“Didn’t you claim this was Fu Hanzheng’s place? Why drag me back here?”
Yuan Meng felt utterly frustrated. “Truth be told, you’ve shared a home with Fu Hanzheng for years and even bore two kids with him! Where else could you possibly head if not here?”
Gu Weiwei eyed the woman steadily. “Go on with your tale—I had no idea you were such a skilled scriptwriter.”
Yuan Meng smacked her forehead. “Weiwei, let’s step out of the car so we can lay everything out for you inside, okay?”
“No chance—check out that terrifying look on the Fu guy’s face; I’m not dying here,” Gu Weiwei whispered after sneaking a peek at Fu Hanzheng.
“He’s irritated with you,” Yuan Meng explained.
Just last night, he’d been after her nonstop, yet the instant he awoke, frustration set in.
“Exit the car—if something happens to you here, I’ll stake my life on it, alright?” Yuan Meng pressed.
Gu Weiwei mulled it over briefly before stepping out. She clung close to Yuan Meng’s side, murmuring a stern warning.
“Stay within three steps of me, no exceptions.”
“Fu Hanzheng isn’t about to devour you—what’s with the fear?” Yuan Meng shot her a glare. Was this truly the same bold woman, now trembling from memory loss?
They walked ahead, Fu Hanzheng trailing behind, as they all entered the villa.
No sooner had he stepped inside than Fu Hanzheng’s phone started ringing.
Informed by Fu Shiyi and Fu Shiqin of the situation, Mrs. Fu pieced it together. Unable to fathom such an event, she dialed him immediately.
“Shiyi mentioned Weiwei woke up this morning without any memory of you. That real?”
Fu Hanzheng released a heavy sigh. “Yes, it’s true.”
“She doesn’t even recall delivering two children?” Mrs. Fu probed.
“Nothing from the past years sticks with her.” Fu Hanzheng rubbed his temples. “Keep Youyou and Tiantian with you for now. We’ll retrieve them once we sort out a plan.”
“Fine, fine, no rush—handle it at your pace.” Mrs. Fu readily agreed.
Fu Hanzheng ended the call and glanced at the cautious girl perched in the living room. He then saw her grab a fruit knife from the table and tuck it out of sight.
Yuan Meng spun around, helpless. “What’s our move now? Spill the whole story of these years to her?”
“Think she’ll buy it from me?” Fu Hanzheng shot back.
Yuan Meng looked toward Gu Weiwei in the living room. “She’ll just write it off as more fiction.”
Even she, having lived through the recent years, would struggle to believe it—Gu Weiwei had no such proof.
“Ease her nerves and get her settled here,” Fu Hanzheng decided.
Yuan Meng let out a sigh. “I’ve pushed as hard as I can to make her hear me out, but keeping her here? Impossible.”
Plus, her mood was rotten at the moment. Schooled by A Land’s royalty, she brimmed with pride and superiority.
“I’ll take care of it,” Fu Hanzheng stated, heading for the living room.
Yuan Meng hurried after him, whispering a caution.
“Watch yourself—she’s stashed the knife.”
Deep down, she dreaded this woman lashing out and wounding her own husband on a whim.
