At the break of dawn, Fu Hanzheng rose ahead of schedule and headed into the bathroom for a shower.
Gu Weiwei stirred awake with a throbbing headache and waves of dizziness. The instant her eyes opened, she took in the room around her and rubbed them in confusion.
What in the world had become of her room?
As she pushed herself upright, the blanket tumbled away. A sudden chill hit her bare upper body, making her aware she was nude.
Furthermore, the mix of light and dark kiss marks scattered over her skin showed she had shared a wildly intense night.
What was happening here?
Exactly what had transpired?
Who on earth had she ended up sleeping with?
Her mind raced when suddenly the bathroom door creaked open.
An incredibly handsome man stepped out, wrapped solely in a towel. He glanced at her propped up in bed and gave a tender smile.
“Don’t you want to sleep some more?”
Gripping the blanket firmly, Gu Weiwei blinked in stunned surprise.
Was this man… addressing her?
Fu Hanzheng slipped into the walk-in closet, changed his outfit, and reappeared. He adjusted his tie before stepping back into the room, where he found her unmoving on the bed.
“Something wrong? Still longing for me already?”
Gu Weiwei shook her head vigorously, squeezed her eyes shut, and tried to drift off to sleep, murmuring to herself inside, “Definitely a dream, just a dream, pure hallucination.”
After finishing dressing, Fu Hanzheng approached the bedside and spotted the girl faking sleep with her eyes clamped shut.
“Weiwei?”
Gu Weiwei squeezed her eyelids tighter still. This guy… he knew her name?
Plus, his face rang a faint bell.
“Weiwei, time to get up—we’re heading to the hospital.” Fu Hanzheng gently pinched her cheeks.
Gu Weiwei burrowed deeper into the blanket.
“You… you can go now.”
Fu Hanzheng creased his brow in mild curiosity but let it slide without deeper thought.
“Clothes are here—come join me for breakfast.”
“Alright… alright,” Gu Weiwei replied nervously, still huddled beneath the covers.
Fu Hanzheng exited the bedroom, stepped outside, and dialed He Chi to set up the medical check.
Once the door clicked shut, Gu Weiwei cautiously peeked out from under the blanket, scanning the now-empty master bedroom while scratching her head.
Just what was going on?
Last she recalled, Yuan Meng had whisked her to Paris for a bash, even rounding up a flock of strikingly hot male models.
Was it possible she’d succumbed to one of those male models?
She slapped her hands over her face in frustration. She’d only sipped a couple of champagne glasses—how could she have gotten that wasted?
Yet her headache pounded relentlessly.
After dallying in the bedroom awhile, she chose to dress and grill Yuan Meng for answers.
She had barely finished dressing and splashing water on her face when the man returned.
“Come on, breakfast’s all set.”
With those words, he reached out to grasp her hand.
Without a peep, Gu Weiwei evaded his touch, bolted from the bedroom, and rushed to Yuan Meng lounging in the living room.
“What went down last night? Why didn’t you hold me back?”
“Hold you back from doing what?” Yuan Meng arched her brows.
“From dragging this guy back home—you’re going to get me in deep trouble!” Gu Weiwei cried, jabbing a finger at herself then whirling to point at Fu Hanzheng trailing behind.
“You wanted me to block you from taking him home?” Yuan Meng glanced from her to Fu Hanzheng. Wasn’t it totally ordinary for these two to return together?
Yet Fu Hanzheng had picked up on the odd vibe.
“Weiwei, don’t you recognize me?”
Gu Weiwei plopped onto the sofa, arms folded tightly. “Name your price—what’ll it take for you to vanish from my life?”
Yuan Meng’s eyes bulged wide. Things were turning really messy.
