My Celestial Ascension Chapter 1052: The Base Of Operation
Previously on My Celestial Ascension...
VROOOOM! VROOOOM!
Yuan’s Porsche roared as it sped down the highway, weaving past other vehicles at high speed.
Patricia was utterly bewildered by how things had unfolded. One moment, she’d been sitting comfortably on Yuan’s sofa, intending to discuss the jewelry sets and receive the money he’d promised her. The next, she found herself sitting in his car, heading toward a criminal organization operating on the outskirts of the city.
’How did I even end up in this situation? I only came to his house to discuss the jewelry and collect the payment!’
She glanced around, still struggling to process everything that had happened.
’Wait a minute... Why does he care so much about that orphanage? Does he have some kind of connection to it?’
Curiosity eventually got the better of her, and she turned to look at Yuan.
He remained focused on the road, his expression serious, although a strange grin occasionally appeared on his face.
"Umm, Yuan, do you have some kind of connection to that orphanage?" she asked, unable to contain her curiosity any longer.
"Yes. A very special one, actually. In my previous life, I was an orphan, and Sister Mary raised me at that very orphanage," Yuan replied casually as he maneuvered the car through the busy traffic.
The moment the words left his mouth, his eyes widened.
’Oh, shit! I shouldn’t have said that!’
"What did you just say?" Patricia stared at him in astonishment.
’Is he serious? He sounded completely sincere... But that’s impossible, isn’t it?’
She studied his face suspiciously, trying to determine whether he was telling the truth.
"I-I was just joking!" Yuan hurriedly added, attempting to pass off his words as a joke.
Unfortunately for him, that only made Patricia more suspicious. His sudden agitation made it seem as though he’d accidentally revealed a secret and was now desperately trying to cover it up.
"Right... That was a pretty convincing joke. You almost made me believe everything you said," Patricia replied awkwardly, clearly unconvinced.
She decided not to press him any further for the moment and instead focused on their destination.
"So, which way do we go now?"
"Take a left at the next intersection. You’ll see a rundown building up ahead. That’s their base of operations."
"Got it." Yuan nodded, his expression turning serious again.
A few minutes later, he pulled the Porsche over near the dilapidated building and switched off the engine.
Patricia looked at the building before turning toward him with a worried expression.
"Yuan... Are you absolutely sure you want to confront them? All this just because they threatened an orphanage?"
She couldn’t help worrying about him. After all, the Red Wolf Gang was a dangerous criminal syndicate involved in all sorts of illegal activities. With hundreds of members and plenty of weapons at their disposal, they were not an organization anyone should take lightly.
"It wasn’t just any orphanage to me," Yuan replied, his expression growing cold. "And they’re going to pay for what they’ve done. Every single one of them will face the consequences."
A dangerous glint flashed in his eyes.
Yuan stepped out of the car and glanced back at Patricia.
"Are you coming or not? Trust me, you’ll be much safer with me than sitting here alone."
Patricia studied him for several seconds before finally opening her door and stepping out.
"Fine. I’ll trust you this time. But if anything happens to me, you’re taking responsibility for it!" she declared with a playful grin, looking him straight in the eyes.
"Don’t worry. I won’t let a single hair on your head be harmed." Yuan smirked.
With that, he summoned his Empyreal Oblivion from his system storage.
Patricia’s eyes widened as an enormous sword suddenly materialized out of thin air.
The weapon was nearly as tall as Yuan himself, yet he held it in one hand as effortlessly as though it weighed nothing.
’W-Where did that sword come from?! It’s enormous!’
Her mind was thrown into chaos.
’And how can he hold something that massive with just one hand? Could it be some kind of imitation? No... It looks far too realistic!’
She stared at the enormous blade, unable to tear her eyes away from it.
Everything about the weapon looked genuine, from its imposing shape to the faint aura that seemed to surround it. As she gazed at the blade, a strange tingling sensation spread through her body.
At that moment, Patricia became certain of one thing.
That sword was real.
However, another question soon surfaced in Patricia’s mind.
How had such an enormous sword appeared out of thin air? She hadn’t seen Yuan retrieve it from the car, nor had he carried it out of the house. It had simply materialized in his hand!
Unable to contain her curiosity any longer, she asked, "Where did you get that massive sword? I didn’t see you take it out of the trunk."
"That’s a secret." Yuan smirked before turning toward the building. "Now, let’s pay them a visit. It’ll be their last visit from anyone before I end their lives."
"You’re talking as though you’re actually going to kill them with that sword." Patricia chuckled, finding it amusing that Yuan had brought such a massive weapon to confront a gang armed with guns.
"I am."
Yuan’s answer was brief, and his voice carried a chilling seriousness that made it clear he wasn’t joking.
’He must be messing with me again... And that sword? He’s probably planning to scare the gang members with it.’
Still unconvinced that he was being serious, Patricia followed closely behind him.
Meanwhile, Yuan had already used his Divine Sense to survey the building. He could sense the members of the Red Wolf Gang scattered throughout the premises, completely unaware of the danger approaching them.
"Hey! You two! What do you want here?!"
"Well, well... Look at that beauty! She’s quite a catch!"
Two gang members standing at the entrance noticed their arrival. One shouted at them while the other leered at Patricia, his eyes filled with undisguised lust.
"What are you doing with that toy? Planning to kill someone with it?" one of the guards asked with a cocky grin.
"How about you let us have—"
The second man never got to finish his sentence.
Slash!
A sharp metallic sound rang through the entrance as Yuan swung his sword at astonishing speed. Neither guard had enough time to react.
Thud! Thud!
Both men collapsed as the devastating strike cut them down. Blood spread across the entrance, staining the floor beneath their lifeless bodies.
"..."
Patricia’s eyes widened in utter disbelief.
For a moment, her mind went completely blank. Then the reality of what she had just witnessed struck her, and her legs began trembling uncontrollably. The color drained from her face as the metallic smell of fresh blood reached her nose.
"Ugh!"
Unable to stomach the sight, she immediately turned aside and vomited.
Afterward, she slowly turned toward Yuan, her face pale and her eyes filled with horror.
But what frightened her most wasn’t merely the violence.
It was Yuan’s expression.
He looked completely cold and emotionless, as though he had just performed an ordinary, everyday task.
"Of course, I’m here to kill you all. Otherwise, why would I bring a sword?" Yuan muttered under his breath.
Patricia approached him with trembling steps, struggling to comprehend what had just happened.
"Y-You really killed them... But why? I thought you were only coming here to warn them!"
"Yes, I killed them. That’s exactly why I’m here," Yuan replied coldly.
His emotionless answer left Patricia speechless.
The man standing before her suddenly seemed like a complete stranger. The Yuan she knew—the young man who had smiled, joked with her, and discussed business so casually—felt utterly different from the person she was seeing now.
For the first time, she realized just how little she truly knew about him.
Without another word, Yuan stepped into the building, his bloodstained sword in hand.
After hesitating for a moment, Patricia followed him inside, still shaken by what she had witnessed.
They soon reached a room where several gang members were busy with their illicit activities.
The moment Yuan pushed open the door, everyone inside turned toward him.
"Kid, what do you want here?" one of the men asked arrogantly.
"Your lives," Yuan replied with a grin, raising his blood-soaked sword toward them.
The gang members stared at the enormous blade, their expressions changing when they noticed the fresh blood coating its surface.
Their amusement vanished instantly.
Realizing that something was terribly wrong, they immediately sprang into action.
The gang members immediately drew their guns and aimed them at Yuan before opening fire. Having dealt with countless criminals and witnessed their fair share of violence, they instantly recognized the blood coating his sword as genuine.
They quickly realized that Yuan must have already killed the two guards outside. Otherwise, how could he have entered the building without anyone raising the alarm?
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Several gunshots rang through the room as they fired at Yuan, aiming for his vital organs.
Standing behind him, Patricia instinctively covered her ears at the deafening noise. Her heart raced as panic gripped her.
However, the bullets suddenly stopped in midair, suspended just inches away from Yuan as though an invisible barrier had blocked their path.
Clink! Clink! Clink!
One after another, the bullets dropped to the floor, producing a series of metallic sounds.
The gang members stared at the scene in utter disbelief.
"W-What the fuck are we looking at?!"
"H-How is that even possible?! That’s impossible!"
They were completely dumbfounded, their faces turning pale as they stared at Yuan in terror.
One thing became immediately clear to them: the man standing before them was no ordinary human.
Stopping bullets in midair without even lifting a finger was something they had only ever seen in movies or imagined in their wildest fantasies.
And yet, they had just witnessed it with their own eyes.
"It’s useless to use those toys against me. Your fate was sealed the moment you targeted that orphanage," Yuan declared with a dangerous smile.
His expression soon hardened as he raised his enormous sword, holding it parallel to the ground.
"Now, die and repent for your sins..."
His voice was low and chilling.
Slash!
A sharp sound tore through the room as Yuan swung his sword.
For a fleeting moment, the gang members could only stare at him in disbelief.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
The men collapsed as the devastating strike cut through them with terrifying ease. Even the wall behind them bore a clean, straight incision, as though an immensely powerful laser had sliced through both the men and the concrete.
The room fell silent once more.
