Martial Peak Chapter 6086, Space vs Void

Previously on Martial Peak...
Yang Ji and Yang Xu located the individual they were seeking, Wu Lun, who was surprisingly calm despite his Qi Condensation cultivation. The Heavenly Demon Queen, still holding a grudge, intervened by subtly altering the Grand Array of the domain to compel Wu Lun to confront them. Yang Ji also arranged for the Heavenly Demon Queen to transport students to and from class, allowing him and Yang Xu to focus on cultivating the Dao of Space. The Heavenly Demon Queen then further fortified their rooms to prevent distractions.

Chapter 6086, Space vs Void

Author: Silavin

What defined Space? What defined the Void?

Sitting cross-legged, Yang Ji pondered these questions while incessantly fracturing Space, watching closely as Space Principles rushed to repair the damage he caused.

He lost all track of time; indeed, the passage of hours had become an illusion. Even the voice of his Sister no longer reached his ears. This silence was perhaps a result of his own extreme concentration, or perhaps she was too engrossed in her own tasks to reach out. regardless, every sound seemed to have vanished, leaving only the rhythmic tearing and mending of Space before his eyes.

Yang Ji also experimented with entering and exiting these Void Cracks, utilizing his Divine Sense to scrutinize every minute detail that his physical eyes might have overlooked.

The first realization he came to was that his entire room had been utterly isolated. It wasn't merely Space that was cut off, but the Void as well.

If he attempted to traverse the Void for any distance and emerge, he would invariably find himself back inside his room. Although his exact position might shift slightly, he could not escape the confines of the four walls through the Void.

He understood instinctively that only the Heavenly Demon Queen possessed the power to do this. To ensure even time could not be gauged through the window, the view outside was nothing but an absolute, pitch-black darkness.

[She must have a specific purpose for this,] Yang Ji surmised, placing his trust in the little worm he had once found.

Subsequently, he began projecting his Divine Sense into the Void while his physical body remained stationary in the room. From within that darkness, he used his Divine Sense to pierce back through the Void, attempting to pinpoint where the exits would manifest within his room.

It was a grueling and monotonous endeavor. He pierced the Void every few meters in every conceivable direction. He struggled to grasp why a one-meter distance within the Void might translate to mere nanometers in his room, yet at other times, it remained a full meter. Undeterred, he continued to extend his Divine Sense through the Void at a frantic pace, piercing through again and again.

Such was the enigma and complexity of Space. How did the distances within the Void relate to those in the outside world? What governed these fluctuations? Why were some points between the two dimensions fragile while others remained impenetrable?

As Yang Ji delved into these mysteries, he realized that his previous understanding of the Dao of Space had been remarkably shallow. While his mastery was undoubtedly high compared to others in this world—surpassing any student at the academy and rivaling the teachers alongside his Sister—were they not all simply standing at the very threshold of the Dao of Space’s secrets?

He felt now that while the gap between him and other students was ten steps, the distance between himself and Li Wu Yi was a mere single step.

Yet, that solitary step could take over a century to bridge. Such was the profound nature of the Dao of Space. Nevertheless, Yang Ji and his Sister had already traversed several such steps to reach their current heights, accomplishing this in just twelve years of life.

Currently, Yang Ji was able to ‘perceive’ the further steps ahead of him. He also caught a glimpse of an entirely different path. Though its end was obscured, much like his current journey, this new path clearly extended far beyond where Li Wu Yi stood. In truth, it reached further than the path trodden by anyone in the 3,000 Worlds. He could even sense that this was the path his Father was on the verge of treading but had not yet fully crossed.

Furthermore, while he could ‘see’ that path, he was unable to set foot upon it. That new path was not connected to the one he currently occupied.

His Father might be further along their shared road, but since even the pinnacle of this world had not crossed over, it implied that this new path did not belong to this world at all.

[So, that is the True Dao of Space…] Yang Ji mused internally. He felt a mixture of profound awe and bitterness. Why? Because it felt as though he had been traveling the wrong road the entire time. Was all the effort he poured into his current path merely leading to a dead end?

However, the awe remained because this new path was unlike anything he had ever witnessed—something incomprehensibly deep. It felt like the very adventure he had been searching for.

He sensed that if he could transition to that path, he might truly surpass his Father. If his Father occupied the peak of the current path, then that was the limit. By following the same road, he would at best stand beside his Father as an equal, never exceeding him.

Looking back at the progress he had made, Yang Ji was tempted to discard it all. He felt the urge to abandon his entire understanding of the Dao of Space and begin anew from the beginning.

But at that moment, as if detecting the instability in his Dao Heart, a voice resonated in his mind.

“You will find yourself perpetually unable to traverse that divide, even were you to commence anew from the very foundation.”

It was the Heavenly Demon Queen. Her tone was frigid but filled with certainty.

“Then what is required of me to cross this gap?” Yang Ji questioned in return, but silence followed. He wasn't sure if she lacked the answer or was withholding it for his own growth.

Regardless, this marked the first time Yang Ji felt his Dao Heart waver. He ridiculed himself, [And here I thought others were easily swayed. It seems I am no different…]

Realizing that starting over would likely cause more harm than good, Yang Ji focused his gaze forward once more. He would not let himself be distracted from his primary objective: separating Space from the Void and linking his room to Yang Xu’s.

Time marched on.

Yang Ji lost track of whether months or years had slipped by. Finally, however, he struck a specific coordinate within the Void that manifested in the exact same spot within his room.

More points were discovered within the Void that led back to that same singular point in his room…

Yang Ji began to construct a mental map, but it only served to deepen his confusion. Then, a sudden realization hit him… [Wait… is the Void… moving?]

[How? Can the Void actually move? When did this start? How did I miss this until now?] Yang Ji sank into deep thought. He could clearly perceive that certain points had shifted slightly compared to when he first pierced the Void. The outcomes had changed minutely.

The discrepancy was minimal, nearly imperceptible. However, for Yang Ji, who was attempting to align two points in the Void perfectly within his room, even the tiniest variation produced a different result, making the movement obvious.

[Why did Father never mention this? Could it be that even he hasn't realized it?] Yang Ji reflected on the fundamentals his Father had instilled in him. There had never been a word about this. Not even his Mother, a Ninth Order Phoenix who possessed an instinctive mastery over the Dao of Space, had spoken of such a phenomenon.

This discovery essentially subverted his entire understanding of the Void. If it moved, did that imply the Void was a sentient entity? If not, what powered its motion? Or was it Space itself that was constantly drifting through the Void?

Questions multiplied in his mind, yet Yang Ji had yet to find a single answer. Now more than ever, he felt the necessity of studying the True Dao of Space to grasp these truths.

Nevertheless, he had confirmed one thing: Space itself was not inextricably tied to the Void. The two planes existed independently of one another. To put it simply, the Heavenly Demon Queen was correct. It was possible for him to manipulate Space without relying on the Void.

Once this realization took hold, Yang Ji became even more consumed by his work.

Mapping the Void? Tearing Void Cracks? He might as well have been living within the Void itself as cracks manifested all around him.

Furniture? Artifacts? Such things were irrelevant now. Void Cracks erupted everywhere. As soon as one sealed, he would tear open another. If his furniture vanished? He could simply retrieve it from the Void later, provided it hadn't been ripped to shreds.

In truth, Yang Ji had never noticed how slowly Void Cracks naturally closed. Thus, as he opened them, he also practiced forcing them shut so he could create more.

He repeated this cycle endlessly, striving to comprehend the nuances between the Void, Space, their Principles, and the Dao.
