Martial Peak Chapter 6078, Pure Control of Space
Previously on Martial Peak...
“Pure control of Space…” Yang Ji whispered, attempting to bind the very fabric of existence to his command. On this occasion, his goal was simply to distort the local Space itself.
Space Principles surged, causing the air around him to vibrate violently. Had the Protective Arrays not been active, these fluctuations would have sparked a massive commotion among the other students. Instead, the world outside remained oblivious and silent while the interior of his room descended into utter chaos.
The walls began to buckle and warp as if they were made of mere cloth. Creases and stretched patches appeared everywhere, all a result of his efforts to manipulate Space Principles to fold the environment.
However, once the tension reached a certain threshold, the ripples in the fabric of Space would rip apart, manifesting a Void Crack that peered into the darkness. Every area he tried to stretch would inevitably tear, causing the room to fill with even more jagged fractures leading into the Void.
Yang Ji’s brow furrowed at the sight. The sensation was comparable to trying to gently pull a piece of fabric, only for it to shred instantly between his fingers. He had exerted almost no strength, yet Space itself had shattered.
“Has Space always been this fragile?” Yang Ji wondered aloud. His voice reached his sister in the adjacent room with ease. Despite the Arrays meant to isolate them, they could communicate without effort through the mysterious Heaven Earth Symmetry Cultivation Technique.
“Brother, I suspect it is because we are too accustomed to tearing Space open…” Yang Xu replied, her tone mirroring his frustration. Her own attempts were yielding the exact same failures.
Yang Ji reflected on the lessons their Father and Mother had given regarding the manipulation of Space. Indeed, their very first step had always been to rend Space asunder to grasp the power of the Void. Their entire understanding of this Dao was fundamentally intertwined with the Void.
Now, however, they were attempting to master Space while excluding the Void entirely. By removing that element from the equation, they realized their foundational knowledge was severely lacking. In this specific pursuit, they were nothing more than true beginners.
“You are likely correct. Still, it is shocking that a minor warp causes such extensive damage,” Yang Ji sighed.
He paused for a moment, allowing the Space around him to stabilize and return to its natural state.
Driven by curiosity, he tried once more and failed. He tried again, only to fail once more.
No matter how delicately he attempted to influence the warp, the result was always the same: it would inevitably collapse into the Void.
Working in tandem, the brother and sister tested various theories and shared their insights. Being in separate rooms actually accelerated their progress, as it provided different variables for their understanding of Space.
Yang Xu noticed that the Space in her vicinity felt slightly more resilient than her brother’s. While Yang Ji only needed the pressure of two fingers to create a Void Crack, she had to exert the force of a twisting wrist to achieve the same rupture.
Through these minute observations, the twins achieved twice the progress with half the effort, and their comprehension of Space grew rapidly. Nevertheless, the central problem remained: every attempt to warp Space without tearing it ended in failure.
After four hours of constant experimentation, Yang Ji spoke up. “Every Space has a different threshold. We’ve searched every corner of our rooms for the most durable spot to fold Space, but even that eventually rips. Heavenly Demon Queen, do you have any further guidance for us?”
Just as Yang Ji suspected, the Heavenly Demon Queen could hear them both clearly despite not being physically inside him. The connection they shared was truly peculiar.
“Do you expect me to be your constant tutor? I have already planted the seeds of wisdom. Enlightenment of this caliber must be birthed from your own sincere cultivation,” the Heavenly Demon Queen huffed. [These children are too accustomed to rapid success. Who in this world could possibly grasp the infinite depths of a True Dao in such a short time?]
“Brother, don’t bother with her. Haven’t we solved problems like this on our own many times before?” Yang Xu rolled her eyes. She had no desire to depend on this parasite for instruction. However, a different thought occurred to her. “Why does your voice feel so distant? Brother, is she not with you?”
“No, she left and went outside. I didn't pay much attention to her since we were occupied with our cultivation,” Yang Ji admitted, a statement that immediately spiked Yang Xu’s anxiety.
“You just let her wander off!? What if she attacks someone?” Yang Xu scolded him immediately.
The Heavenly Demon Queen interjected to correct her. “I am aware you hold my character in low regard, but I must protest such blatant slander. Your brother clearly finds me trustworthy enough to wander alone. Besides, what possible reason would I have to harm anyone in this little realm of yours?”
“You need not worry about my behavior. Rest assured, I will never bring disaster upon you or those you care about,” the Heavenly Demon Queen scoffed. “I have simply found a person of great interest, someone who has managed to avoid even your Father’s powerful perception. I am merely acting as a silent observer until my theory is confirmed.”
“So, you’ve basically gone out to stalk someone?” Yang Xu’s eyes narrowed.
“By the literal definition, yes.” The Heavenly Demon Queen felt the phrasing was slightly insulting, but for some reason, Yang Xu simply nodded as if she understood the motivation.
*Knock knock knock*
Suddenly, the doors to both their rooms were knocked upon simultaneously.
“Sister, did you hear that too?” Yang Ji asked.
“Yeah. I wonder what’s happening.” Yang Xu stood up and opened her door at the exact same moment as Yang Ji.
To their confusion, the hallway was empty. However, looking down toward the ground floor platform, they saw that a crowd of students had already assembled.
“Oh? An entire day has passed already? I didn't even notice… I suppose it’s time to meet up,” Yang Ji remarked. Both he and Yang Xu vaulted from the fourth-floor balcony down to the ground floor, swiftly merging with the group.
Their dramatic entrance naturally drew many eyes, though no one dared to comment. Li Wu Yi was the only one to speak. “Good, it seems the final pair has arrived. Let this be a reminder to everyone: if you intend to begin secluded cultivation, you must inform us before activating the Isolation Array in your room. Additionally, remember to flip your room number sign. As today is the first day, there will be no penalties, but I expect everyone to follow the regulations from now on.”
Li Wu Yi directed a pointed look at the twins during his final sentence. However, knowing their temperaments, he didn't hold much hope for their compliance.
“Since we are behind schedule, I will teleport everyone directly to the classroom. This is a one-time exception; starting tomorrow, you must make your own way there.” With a flick of his wrist, Li Wu Yi transported the students on the platform away. He also made sure to bring Xu Yi along to the classroom.
With that, the lesson officially commenced.
…
And just as quickly, the lesson concluded.
It made little difference to Yang Ji and Yang Xu, who could barely recall a word that was said. Rather than paying attention to Li Wu Yi’s introductory lecture, they had spent the entire time conversing privately. The material was simply far too basic for their level of experience.
Since the twins weren't causing a disturbance—even if they were staring off into space with vacant expressions—Li Wu Yi decided not to intervene. He was fully aware that his current teachings were elementary for them and was simply relieved they weren't napping in his class.
Li Wu Yi had struggled to find a way to instruct them. The twins were already walking a path so advanced that it was difficult for a teacher to find a foothold. It would be more accurate to say the twins were at a stage where they should be debating the Dao with him rather than sitting in a lecture.
As the first day ended, Li Wu Yi felt certain that these two would never truly fit into a standard classroom environment as their parents had hoped. He glanced at Xu Yi, but the man only responded with a helpless shake of his head.
[So you’re out of ideas too, are you?] Li Wu Yi sighed inwardly before finally asking the class, “Does anyone have any final questions?”
For most of the students, the lecture provided enough material to ponder for a month. For the more advanced ones, it was a good review. Many hands went up, but surprisingly, the twins were the very first to signal.
[Wait, were they actually listening? Or were they just waiting for the bell to corner me?] Li Wu Yi thought. He then announced, “Yang Ji, since you were the quickest, I’ll take your question first.”
Yang Ji got straight to the point, asking the question that had plagued him and Yang Xu since the previous day: “How can one achieve control over Space without relying on the Void?”
The question caught Li Wu Yi off guard. Just as he suspected, the twins were operating at a level suitable for deep Daoist discourse. However, such a topic was not helpful for the rest of the class and might even confuse them if they focused on it too early. Consequently, he requested they speak privately after class and moved on to the other students.
