Love You Till the End Chapter 1198 - 1196: Shi Mei vs. Shi Keke (43)
Previously on Love You Till the End...
Chen Shijin held no illusions about Shi Keke's net worth, but the Shi Family's profound prestige and standing within Du City were undeniable. Their accumulated wealth, he surmised, had long since surpassed any measurable limit.
Yet, through the years, Shi Keke had never once flaunted her status as a Shi Family young lady, nor had she ever leaned on the family's influence. In truth, she maintained a remarkably low-profile existence.
His persistent challenges to her, both in intellect and in capability, stemmed from her consistent refusal to leverage the Shi Family's power against others. It was this very fact, coupled with his genuine desire to best her, that fueled their encounters both within and beyond the courtroom.
Qian Hao, however, remained oblivious to these nuances.
Recognizing himself as a prominent figure in Du City, boasting assets exceeding a billion, with substantial investments in real estate and diverse business ventures, he had accumulated considerable wealth over time. This success had fostered an air of detachment, leaving the day-to-day management of his empire to partners and assistants, allowing him to bask in his achievements without much active involvement.
While aware of the Shi Family's formidable presence and the prudence of not crossing them, he had never paid particular attention to Shi Keke. Consequently, her connection to the esteemed Shi Family had escaped his notice.
Observing Chen Shijin's somewhat dismissive demeanor towards her, Qian Hao mistakenly categorized her as an insignificant figure, unworthy of serious consideration.
"You possess billions in netherworld banknotes, do you not?" Qian Hao scoffed, his gaze challenging. "Why don't you take a moment to look in the mirror? Do you truly bear the resemblance of someone wealthy?"
"Naturally, I do not appear to be rich, for I am inherently so. What reason would I have to project such an image?" Shi Keke responded, her eyebrows lifting slightly as she regarded him with a subtle, knowing smile.
"Lawyer Shi..." Zhang Er tugged at Shi Keke's sleeve, her voice a hushed plea. "He is a formidable individual; you cannot afford to antagonize him... There is truly no need for you to involve yourself in this matter for my sake..."
"It is imperative that I do," Shi Keke affirmed, gesturing for Wei Shenshen, who was observing from a distance, to approach.
Wei Shenshen, understanding Shi Keke's intent, promptly saved the recorded video clip before hurrying to her side. "Master," she greeted.
"Escort Miss Zhang home and make arrangements for a private physician to attend to her injuries. I can manage matters here on my own," Shi Keke instructed.
"Absolutely not, Master; he might harm you..." Wei Shenshen protested, her expression clouded with concern as she cast a disdainful glance at Qian Hao.
"As I have instructed," Shi Keke's tone remained firm, brooking no argument.
Wei Shenshen hesitated, her gaze falling upon Zhang Er's evident injuries. Recognizing the urgent need for medical attention to prevent complications, she was compelled to concede, albeit reluctantly. "Then, exercise caution, Master. Should anything arise, do not hesitate to call; I will be there instantly."
"Hmm," Shi Keke acknowledged with a nod.
Zhang Er's eyes met Shi Keke's with an expression of deep apology. She opened her mouth, intending to speak, but a sudden, chilling glare from Qian Hao halted her. The unspoken words remained trapped within.
"Let us proceed, Miss Zhang."
Wei Shenshen assisted Zhang Er into the car. Moving to the front, she occupied the driver's seat, started the engine, and drove off.
Qian Hao watched the departing vehicle, his fist clenching tightly. "Bitch, you'd best be warned," he bellowed, his voice laced with fury. "If I ever see you again, you'll face my retribution!"
With that threat issued, his attention pivoted sharply back to Shi Keke, a sneer twisting his lips. "If you possessed such wealth, why would you choose the path of a lawyer? Cease this charade before me. True affluence is not a costume one can simply don. Now, tell me, was it you who instigated the treacherous Miss Zhang's sudden claim for divorce? Confess, what inducements did she offer you?"
