Love You Till the End Chapter 1199 - 1197: Shi Mei vs. Shi Keke (44)
Previously on Love You Till the End...
"Does our nation's criminal law prohibit wealthy individuals from becoming lawyers? Or perhaps you, Qian Hao, are speaking on behalf of the entire legal system? Regarding your previous inquiries, I am under no obligation to provide answers, nor will I." Shi Keke responded with unruffled composure and confidence.
"Hah. Lawyers always have a rehearsed script. If that's the case, I won't waste further breath on you. Since you're so affluent, why not secure a more competent lawyer for yourself? I shall be suing you for intentional assault and defamation." Qian Hao, feeling rather pleased with himself, paused for a moment before adding, "However, should you choose to be accommodating and utter some pleasantries, I might consider a private settlement. After all, as a lawyer, facing a lawsuit and court proceedings wouldn't present a favorable image."
"A private settlement does sound appealing." Shi Keke's lips curved into a subtle smile as she chuckled lightly. "But what precisely are the pleasantries Mr. Qian wishes to hear from me?"
Qian Hao: "What else could it be? An apology, naturally. And a public one at that. Only then might I reluctantly refrain from pursuing this matter further."
"Mr. Qian, perhaps you should check your forehead for a fever. It wouldn't be ideal if your brain were to overheat. Given your considerable wealth, if you were to be committed to a mental institution, all your assets would likely end up with your ex-wife. My, my, the more I contemplate it, the less sensible that seems."
"You!" Qian Hao's expression shifted drastically, and he declared with indignation, "Do not refuse a toast only to be forced to drink a forfeit!"
"Typically, when I imbibe with others, I'm the one consuming the forfeits. It's unavoidable; I quite enjoy drinking them, and it's a habit I can't seem to break." Shi Keke replied nonchalantly.
"Very well, since you are clearly unaware of what is beneficial for you, I see no reason to maintain any pretense of mercy," Qian Hao stated with a cold snort. "Do not presume that a rudimentary understanding of the law grants you the right to intimidate me. Let me inform you, I, Qian Hao, possess ample financial resources and am not averse to covering any necessary medical expenses for others."
His implication was unmistakable: he intended to take direct action against Shi Keke and subsequently resolve the situation with monetary compensation.
He retrieved his mobile phone, lowered his voice, uttered a few words to the person on the other end, and then concluded the call.
At that precise moment, a sleek black sports car was parked across the street, its window partially rolled down. The individual seated in the driver's position reclined languidly, his deep-set eyes slits of observation as he watched the two individuals engaged in their argument outside the courthouse.
His gaze was piercing, as if veiled in frost, possessing a chilling intensity that could suffocate, yet a subtle, mocking curve played upon his lips.
He resembled a fallen demon lord—noble, refined, detached, and regal. Every fiber of his being radiated a captivating luminescence, capable of ensnaring any onlooker with a single glance, drawing them into his seductive orbit.
Abruptly, he produced his phone, his sculpted fingers gracefully navigating the touchscreen. He scrolled through his contacts before dialing a number.
Upon the call's connection, he commanded in a frigid tone, "Dispatch fifty assassins to the vicinity of the courthouse within the next three minutes."
A respectful "Yes, sir" was the response from the other end before Shi Mei disconnected the call.
Qian Hao cast a glance at his wristwatch, noting the imminent passage of time. He then addressed Chen Shijin, who stood beside him, saying, "Lawyer Chen, did you not mention earlier that you wished to discuss a matter with me? Let us adjourn to your office."
Although Chen Shijin was unaware of the identity of Qian Hao's recent contact, he grasped the latter's intentions perfectly. Seeking to sidestep any potential complications, he offered an excuse: "I have just recalled leaving some crucial documents within the courtroom; I must return to retrieve them. Mr. Qian, you may proceed; we shall connect via telephone later."
