The car owner was enraged when Shi Mei blocked the road, and called the authorities. However, the traffic police showed preferential treatment to Shi Mei, claiming his car had an oil leak and needed immediate attention. After Shi Mei drove away, running a red light, the car owner threatened to report the officers and use his dash cam footage. The next day, the car owner's car was defaced with red paint, and he was beaten up, while news reported his car illegally parked.

Following their midday meal, Shi Keke's phone rang; it was Shen Cheng on the line. It was evident she had caught wind of the news, as she immediately questioned, "Shi Keke, are you attempting to sabotage your own career by parking your car in the middle of an intersection?"

"Sister-in-law, this situation is entirely beyond my control. As a lawyer, I would never engage in any illegal activities," Shi Keke reassured her.

"Are you absolutely certain?"

"Well, there was one instance."

What Shi Keke stated was, in fact, the truth. Throughout her years as a legal professional, she had encountered a multitude of perilous situations. Some individuals had sought to end her life, others to inflict harm, and still others to utterly ruin her. Nevertheless, in navigating these challenges, she steadfastly adhered to legal avenues, never once crossing the line.

The sole exception was during the period she was assisting Shen Cheng in investigating Gu Liancheng, where she enlisted the aid of her hacker acquaintance to breach Gu Liancheng's computer systems.

However, upon the police uncovering the definitive truth behind Qin Ni's murder, Shi Keke voluntarily disclosed her transgression in seeking the truth and expressed her willingness to accept any repercussions.

Fortuitously, in consideration of her significant contributions, the authorities opted to balance her merits against her demerits, ultimately deciding not to pursue legal action against her.

"What precisely is the situation with your car?" Shen Cheng inquired once more.

"My brother," Shi Keke responded. "I had intended for him to take my car to have the paintwork repaired. Little did I expect him to lash out en route and, not only abandon it at a traffic light but also strike a pedestrian."

Unbeknownst to Shi Keke, Shi Mei had already dispatched individuals to confront the car's owner and administer a lesson. It was purely by chance that this man later approached her, presenting a video and declaring his intention to sue the captain of the traffic police brigade.

He asserted that they, knowing the law, had nevertheless violated it, abetting the commission of a crime that resulted in his suffering both physical and psychological distress.

Shi Keke promptly declined the case. Her refusal was not rooted in apprehension of losing, but rather in her suspicion that the injuries sustained were connected to Shi Mei. This was due to a prior altercation between the car owner and Shi Mei, which had concluded on decidedly acrimonious terms.

The men of the Shi Family were not individuals to be crossed lightly. While their overbearing and imperious nature was well-known, their ruthlessness was such that they could shatter a person's life with a mere word.

"Haha!" Shen Cheng couldn't suppress a laugh upon hearing her account. "I had always perceived him as remarkably mature. Who could have imagined such childish behavior? Shi Keke, you've truly found a gem."

"Enough, Sister-in-law," Shi Keke interjected, raising an eyebrow. "I am undeniably fond of him, and I love him, yet an insurmountable divide seems to exist between us. The more tenderly he treats me, the more it feels as though he views me as a sister. At times, it's as if he's saying, 'You may date, but only with my explicit consent.' Sister-in-law, do you deem us utterly mad? We inflict pain upon each other daily, yet we cannot bear to witness the other suffer."

"I can discern that he cares for you deeply, and not merely with the affection an elder brother holds for a younger one; there is an undeniable undercurrent of something more profound. It is not that he refrains from displaying his affection because he lacks it, but rather because his feelings are exceptionally intense. When a man harbors the fear of potentially losing a woman, he often resorts to deliberately concealing his true emotions."

Although Shen Cheng had never broached this subject directly with Shi Mei, she had gleaned certain insights from his demeanor and actions. The act of him taking Shi Keke's car for a paint job, for instance, appeared mundane to most, but to her, it was a testament to his love.

This was because, she reasoned, it is only when one loves another that they undertake actions for that person which they would never contemplate doing under ordinary circumstances.
