Bei Mo is furious after his men are killed, but his father, Bei Lang, advises him to abandon his pursuit of the Princess due to her betrothal to the powerful Shi Family. Bei Mo dismisses the Shi Family's influence, only for his father to reveal their formidable background, connected to the terrifying assassin organization known as the Charming Nine Sect, founded by Shi Mei, the Princess's uncle.

Qi Jingren had anticipated Bei Mo might seek retribution, but a fortnight later, news of his engagement reached her. Apparently, the intended bride's parents were not involved in governance but were ordinary business proprietors.

She returned to the President’s Mansion that day, intending to confirm this with Mo Jin. He affirmed the news and further divulged that Bei Mo himself had initiated the proposal to the young lady.

"It appears he has relinquished his pursuit of you," Mo Jin remarked.

Mo Jin had always been aware of Bei Mo's affections for Qi Jingren. However, he worried that the Bei Family might seize the opportunity to target him, compelling him to feign ignorance.

While Mo Jin, as President, wielded considerable authority, he occasionally required support from his subordinates. The Great General commanded extensive influence within political circles, and his pronouncements could sway numerous individuals. To forestall any disruptions, Mo Jin felt compelled to endure the situation.

Furthermore, the reason he had initially opposed severing Qi Jingren's engagement to Shi Aoju was also for Qi Jingren's own protection. It was only through an alliance with the Shi Family that the Bei Family would exercise restraint.

"If he has indeed given up on me, can I then find a man to court and eventually marry?" Qi Jingren questioned.

"Such pronouncements are unbecoming of a young lady," Mo Jin chided.

"And who decreed that a young lady is forbidden from uttering such words?" Qi Jingren challenged. "Father, you previously stated that as long as I willingly accepted the role of your successor, you would refrain from interfering in my personal affairs."

"Willingness is demonstrated through actions, not mere words," Mo Jin stated sternly, his brow furrowed. "If you desire my non-interference in your life, then prove to me that you possess the capability to manage and safeguard yourself."

"Very well," Qi Jingren affirmed. "Grant me six months, and I shall transform a single penny into a fortune."

"You alone?" Mo Jin still harbored some reservations regarding Qi Jingren's competence.

"What is it about me that raises doubt? Does Father believe I am incapable of supporting myself, or does he subscribe to the notion that a woman cannot achieve what a man can?" Qi Jingren retorted sharply.

Her statement carried a subtle undertone, serving as a reminder to Mo Jin that if he intended for her to inherit the presidency, he ought not to harbor doubts about her abilities. Conversely, if he doubted her capacity, he should reconsider designating her as his successor.

"Very well," Mo Jin conceded. "You shall have six months."

Qi Jingren understood his eventual agreement. She recognized that his stringent demeanor often stemmed from a place of genuine concern for her well-being. He was an exemplary father, entirely devoid of selfishness, whose sole aim was to foster the best in his closest kin.

"I have one condition that I hope Father can approve," she announced.

"Proceed," Mo Jin replied calmly, his expression retaining its former solemnity.

"Annul my engagement to Shi Aoju." Given that Jiuyi and Shi Aoju were now actively discussing marriage, Qi Jingren's continued status as his "fiancée" would create an awkward predicament.

"Agreed," Mo Jin assented readily. "Within three days, I shall arrange for the cancellation of your engagement to Shi Aoju."

Qi Jingren, astute in her understanding of Mo Jin, sensed a precondition underlying his swift acceptance and inquired, "What precisely is Father's precondition?"

Mo Jin stated with gravity, "My precondition is that while you may freely associate and form relationships, you must exercise discretion. You are not an ordinary individual, and therefore, you must prioritize your own safety and avoid creating a scandal by conceiving a child before marriage."
