Jax is assigned to evaluate four problematic first-year students during a dungeon raid. He meets the students: Delphine, a vampire; Evangeline, an elf; Athanasia, the Archmage's granddaughter; and Lavinia, a catwoman. The dungeon assigns them a difficult mission to kill a witch. As monsters attack, Jax attempts to check his students' levels using a skill but finds that Athanasia and Lavinia are too powerful for him to assess.

The combat raged on, Jax observing the two young women in action. Lavinia fought with a playful yet deadly grace, her daggers dancing as she slit throats with swift, precise movements. Each kill was pristine, every step deliberate, yet her combat prowess belied the system's inability to gauge her level beyond his own.

Meanwhile, Delphine unleashed her fury upon the unfortunate monsters. One troll bore the brunt of her aggression, impaled by over fifty arrows which formed a grotesque aerial platform. It hung suspended, pinned against a tree like a macabre piece of art. In a moment of apparent spite, Delphine intentionally missed targeting a fleeing goblin. Instead, her arrows repeatedly struck the very tree behind Jax, impacting the trunk over and over until it finally splintered and began to fall directly upon him as he meticulously jotted down scores on his sheet.

This was clearly intentional, and her smug smile confirmed it. Yet, her efforts proved futile as Jax casually sidestepped the massive falling timber without even glancing upwards, as if such incidents were a daily occurrence.

While still writing, he commented, "Minus ten points for Delphine. Your lack of precision is appalling."

She clicked her tongue and approached him. Without meeting his gaze, she declared, "You won’t be so fortunate next time."

Jax paid her no heed.

She pressed on, "I don't know what scheme you employed to escape my mother's clutches. But your luck is bound to run out soon."

Jax's demeanor shifted instantaneously from stoic to playfully mocking. "I didn't use any tricks. Your mother herself escorted me back to the academy. She even graciously provided her royal carriage for my journey, complete with breakfast."

He then shrugged, adding, "Perhaps she enjoyed my company. However, I must decline her subsequent advances. I understand she may wish for me to become king once she ascends to the throne, and perhaps even take on the role of your new father."

Delphine's fists clenched involuntarily.

"But I must refuse all such offers. My loyalty has already been pledged to another. I bear their mark."

Delphine gritted her teeth and turned to leave. "Keep spewing your filth, Professor. I will bury you so deep that even the one you claim loyalty to won't find enough of you to bury."

Some time later, the remaining horde of lesser monsters was dispatched with ease by the two women. The ground was a gruesome tableau of goblin dismemberment and troll remains.

Then, as the final fleeing goblin met a swift end via a blast to the back of its skull, its dying shriek pierced the forest's quiet, drawing an unexpected arrival.

A young dragon child emerged.

[An illustration of her has been attached in the comments.]

She appeared to be around five or six years old, peeking hesitantly from behind the thick bushes. Her small frame trembled, clearly exhausted and frightened. Jax noticed her partially concealed form, a tiny, injured leg poking out from the foliage, visibly bleeding.

As Jax's gaze fixed upon her, the other women followed his line of sight and discovered the child. Her expression contorted from fear to a burgeoning rage as Jax began to advance towards her.

Athanasia, speaking for the first time, warned, "Don't be foolish, Professor. Approaching that child is incredibly dangerous."

Jax disregarded her warning and continued his approach.

The child, her adorable eyes blazing with fury, threatened, "Take one more step, and I'll blow your head off."

Jax persisted. A sphere of green mana erupted from the child's tiny hands, hurtling directly towards him. With effortless agility, he dodged the projectile without altering his pace, reaching her in mere seconds.

The child squeezed her eyes shut in apprehension. However, Jax was already kneeling, unfurling his handkerchief to tend to the wounded leg.

He gently admonished, "No child should speak with such venom. And violence is never the answer, do you understand?"

The child reacted with bewildered indignation. "What are you doing?!"

Jax rose and produced a vial of emergency healing potion from his inventory. "If this potent concoction works in this realm, your wound should mend within minutes."

The child immediately recoiled. "I know it's poison! You're here to kill me or kidnap me!"

Seizing the opportune moment while her mouth was agape from her outburst, Jax tipped the bottle, filling her mouth with the potion.

She thrashed and sputtered, attempting to expel the liquid. But Jax firmly held her mouth closed with one hand and pinched her nose with the other, leaving her no choice but to swallow.

After a few seconds of desperate gasping, she finally managed to ingest the potion.

Jax released her and remarked, "There, you see? That wasn't nearly as difficult as you made it out to be."

The child then adopted a theatrical pose, frantically examining her body as if the potion had begun to dissolve her limbs. "What have you done to me?!"

Jax responded nonchalantly, "Poisoned you, naturally. You'll be dead in a few moments."

"Eep—!" Her tiny hands darted frantically all over her body.

"I can't feel my legs!"

"Calm down. That is merely the healing potion taking effect. Remove the handkerchief and inspect it yourself."

She complied with his directive, observing her wound magically seal itself before her very eyes. Her expression contorted into an unmoving 'O' shape.

Jax declared, "You will be completely healed now. So, cease the dramatics and accompany me. This perilous locale is no place for a child to wander unsupervised."

The child crossed her arms, displaying sheer defiance. "I refuse to be ensnared by your schemes! I know you intend to hand me over to that detestable king or betray me as everyone else has!"

Jax responded, "Very well. I shall depart, given that you still harbor mistrust even after I expended a valuable resource on you."

He turned to leave. "Furthermore, you may sate your hunger with the fallen monsters we’ve left behind. We procured our own delectable provisions."

At the mere mention of sustenance, her stomach betrayed her completely. Hunger blazed in her eyes with an intensity that could be seen from afar.

Jax vanished from the scene. The four girls trailed at a distance, with the exception of Lavinia, who remained mere inches from Jax.

She inquired, "Professor, is it not somewhat callous to abandon that utterly charming little doll alone in the forest?"

Jax replied, "Fear not. I am fully aware of the methods for handling obstinate youngsters. Just give it a moment. She will either be trailing after us or calling out to join our company."

Recently, Jax had been immersed in reading novels pertaining to childcare. He had selected one from the library with the express purpose of becoming a more capable father in the future. His perspective on children was undergoing a transformation due to these readings.

He anticipated her call. Yet, when it finally arrived, it was not in the manner he had envisioned.

A piercing scream echoed through the forest. "Abandon me, you villains!"

Jax swiveled around instantly. In the distance, a contingent of paladins on horseback came into view. They were forcibly restraining the child, their horses moving with purpose, while simultaneously suppressing her magical abilities with binding runes.

One paladin proclaimed, "We have finally cornered this pest. Now, let us make our way back to His Highness."

A voice sliced through the woods like a sharpened blade. "My apologies for the interruption. However, you shall not depart unless you surrender that girl to me."

Jax stood alone in the clearing, facing a formidable assembly of over fifty armored paladins.

Another paladin challenged, "Are you attempting to shield this witch?"

Jax expressed his bewilderment. "Witch?"

The paladin elucidated, "This is no mere child, sir. She is the Witch of Eternity, the prophesied individual destined to bring ruin upon this world."

Jax's gaze shifted past the paladins, settling on her face. It was a mask of pleading and tears, the visage of a child who had been fleeing from the world long before she could comprehend the reasons why.

He stated, "I shall not repeat myself. Release the child. In return, I shall let you depart unharmed."

His grip tightened on his sword. "My ledger of sins is already substantial. I have no need for further transgressions, such as rendering another family fatherless, husband-less, or son-less."
