The village chief and a large group of villagers, including many strong fighters and high elves, arrived on the island via a sailing ship for an inspection. After a ceremonial planting of a harpoon, they held a banquet. The next day, the village chief returned, this time via teleportation, to oversee the construction of new houses and infrastructure like a railway and improved harbor facilities. The statues of the God of Creation and Farming God were also enshrined.

My name is Yame.

There are lights of civilization on the island now.

Hmm.

It’s bright.

Now that the base inn has been built, I’ve been spending more nights on the island.

The room is comfortable.

It’s nice not having to worry about the wind or rain.

It feels safe.

And the tableware all matches.

I could almost cry.

The mismatched seashell dishes weren’t bad either, though.

One night on the island.

A high elf invited me to join them for a card game.

I happily accepted.

A chance to show off the intellect of a devil!

Let’s see. I win when I get rid of all the cards in my hand.

Can I stack a card that makes the next player draw two cards with one that makes them draw four?

The rules here say I can.

Then, here you go.

The next player’s scream is music to my ears.

I had fun.

Once the island had all the basic facilities needed for daily life, large-scale construction began along the coast.

They were building a port.

A dock and warehouses.

They surveyed the island’s coastline and selected the best location for the port.

They selected it, but the water was a little too shallow.

If the water isn’t deep enough, large ships can’t dock, which means they would have to use small boats or build a long floating bridge.

That would be inconvenient.

Small boats would be inconvenient enough, and floating bridges are unstable, making them unsuitable for loading and unloading cargo.

They’re fine if all you need to do is let people board, though.

So, to ensure sufficient water depth, they decided to excavate the seabed at the planned port site.

I thought Rana-san might do it, but apparently not.

They were going to use the Multi-Purpose Humanoid Mobile Heavy Machine, Arti-Horse.

Rana-san might cause damage to the island if she couldn’t control her strength.

I wouldn’t say that out loud, though.

But how were they going to bring the Arti-Horse here?

It’s so much bigger than the construction materials that transporting it with teleportation magic should be difficult, shouldn’t it?

While I was wondering about that, Rana-san came carrying it in her arms.

Talk about brute force.

The Multi-Purpose Humanoid Mobile Heavy Machine that Rana-san brought over was a very rare model called the Underwater Multi-Purpose Humanoid Mobile Heavy Machine, Arti-Horse Aqua.

It was perfect for excavating the seabed.

But wasn’t that thing incredibly expensive?

I’d be worried if it got damaged.

W-well, I guess it’s not something I need to worry about.

By the way, who’s going to pilot this Underwater Multi-Purpose Humanoid Mobile Heavy Machine?

It was a demoness named Yuri, wearing a skin-tight pilot suit.

Oh.

She’s the Demon King’s daughter.

Wait, is that okay?

Coming all the way to an island like this?

Won’t the Demon King get angry?

I thought the Demon King was really scary.

The Demon King I knew had a pretty short temper.

The man who was eating at Big Tree Village about three nights ago?

Oh, the guy all the cats seemed to love, who was really into baseball?

Yeah, he went on and on about baseball.

I didn’t really understand baseball, though.

No, no, you don’t have to apologize.

I had fun.

Huh?

That guy was the Demon King?

Really?

Ah, well, I think the village chief did call him the Demon King.

I just assumed it was some kind of nickname and didn’t pay much attention.

So he really was the Demon King.

Well, if the Demon King isn’t angry, then I guess it’s fine.

Yuri climbed into the Underwater Multi-Purpose Humanoid Mobile Heavy Machine and started excavating the seabed like crazy.

She’s been at it for quite a long time. Is she going to be okay?

She looks like she’s having fun, though.

Every now and then, she even lets out a loud laugh.

……

Maybe she really should take a break.

I’ll have the village chief tell her.

Stifano reported the results of the island survey to the village chief.

I listened along with him.

「We found traces of the Evil God Cult. They’re quite old, though.」

The Evil God Cult? The people who worship the Evil God?

「That’s right. This is only a theory, but after Yame sealed herself away, someone reinforced the area with another seal and moved her.」

Wait, so that was the Evil God Cult?

「It’s unclear whether the Evil God Cult was capable of doing something like that, but… they were a strange organization with some very unusual powers.」

That’s true.

「Especially the faction that was trying to resurrect the Evil God. They were so powerful that you might have thought they had the Evil God’s support.」

Hmm.

「There were traces of something besides the seal as well, but… we couldn’t determine what they were. It may have been designed to break automatically when Yame awakened.」

Or maybe they just weathered away?

「That’s highly likely. And I suspect that whatever mechanism existed besides the seal is what weakened Yame.」

Why go that far?

Did they have a grudge against me?

I never fought the Evil God Cult or anything.

Ah, but maybe I was secretly a member of the Evil God Cult myself.

Maybe that’s why they held a grudge against me?

「In any case, there is no danger on the island as it is now. I’ve recorded the traces, so the next time we come, I’ll make sure they’re completely removed.」

Stifano finished his report, and the village chief simply replied that he would leave it to her.

During all this, a cat kept exposing its belly to me with an apologetic look on its face.

I wonder what that was about?

I didn’t really understand, but I gave it some pets anyway.

While construction of the port was progressing, the bell in the watchtower rang.

It was a signal that someone was approaching the island.

When I looked out at the sea, I saw a group of seakins.

Judging by their equipment and numbers, were they the army of seakins that had come here before?

This is bad.

I called out to everyone on the beach, telling them to move away from the sea.

Stifano had already returned to the village.

Rana-san was somewhere else too.

I don’t know how well the high elves, mountain elves, lizardmen, and elder dwarves can fight, so I’m not counting them.

Gulf was on the opposite side of the island.

There are ten angels here right now.

Will ten angels be enough?

If they escape underwater, though, we won’t be able to pursue them.

The Underwater Multi-Purpose Humanoid Mobile Heavy Machine is for construction work, after all.

……

Um, Yuri?

Why are you ordering weapons to be installed on the Underwater Multi-Purpose Humanoid Mobile Heavy Machine?

Hurry up… no, wait.

Mountain elves, don’t install them so enthusiastically.

We’re not going to use them.

We need to think about how to avoid a confrontation.

I thought we might end up fighting the seakins, but everything turned out fine.

They were very gentlemanly.

We were the rowdy ones.

Angels who tried to get the first strike with a sudden dive attack, reflect on your actions!

「That doesn’t mean you have to suddenly throw a rock at us.」

I was the one who threw the rock.

I missed, but I did manage to disrupt the dive attack.

I’m proud of myself.

The seakins were connected to Ursa.

Apparently, when Ursa was investigating this island, she went to the seakins to ask about it.

Since the island wasn’t one they had any involvement with, they gave her permission.

After giving their permission, though, they remembered that this was an island they had only suddenly become able to perceive within the past decade or so.

For some reason, the seakins had never tried to enter the waters around the island before then.

They had given permission, but then thought it would be troublesome if something major happened here, so they formed a military force and came to check things out.

That was the group I saw before.

After confirming that they could approach the island without any problems and finding no suspicious presence in the surrounding area, they withdrew.

Some time later, though, the island became much livelier, so they figured it was probably Ursa and came back to check on things again.

That was this time.

I see.

For now, I explained that we were connected to Ursa and proposed establishing a cooperative relationship going forward.

Ah, would the seabed excavation cause any problems for the seakins?

If it does, I’ll have them stop.

No problem?

Great.

Huh?

You’ll help us with the seabed excavation?

That would be a huge help.

Yes, yes, I understand.

I’ll tell the village chief that we’d like you to provide guidance and escorts for ships coming and going.

Right, um… the village chief of Village Five.

Do you know him?

The Disgusting Food Eater King?

What’s that supposed to mean?

-0-

Anyway, I reported the seakins to the village chief.

The fact that the seakins couldn’t perceive the island may have been related to my seal.

I don’t really know, but they only became able to perceive it around the time I woke up.

If they had come when they first became able to perceive it, I wouldn’t have had to struggle so much…

I’d better not think about that.

Huh?

The village chief is going to the island soon?

Got it.

I’ll do my best to show him around.

Gulf: 「I thought it was finally my turn, so I hurried back, only to find that it was already over.」

Yuri: 「I meant to say ‘Hurry up!’—not ‘Deploy!’…」

Yame:「A card that makes the next player draw four, followed by a Change Color card plus another card that makes the next player draw four… That’s allowed. Okay, then I’ll play this.」

High Elf:「Noooooo!」

Angel A:「Come on, get her back. I’ve reversed the flow with this.」

High Elf:「Heh. We were allowed to stack cards, right? Three Draw Four cards! Draw twelve cards.」

Yame:「Then I’ll play a Change Color card plus another card that makes the next player draw four.」

Angel B:「Nooooooooo!」
