Insect Tamer's Ascension Chapter 541. You are Freakishly strong
Previously on Insect Tamer's Ascension...
The panther jumped on his back this time, and Theo only knew because the spatial senses showed it to him.
He didn’t even have to flinch this time, but just duck and let the panther overshoot him by a little before driving his elbow into its stomach from below.
The attack was more of an on-the-spot thinking one, where he saw the panther’s stomach and just hit it.
The beast landed awkwardly and skidded on the ground before turning around with even more hostility.
Theo’s breathing had gotten heavier now, and he could tell the same about the beasts.
They were not only dangerous, but they were trained enough to keep the pressure from all directions.
It was like they had been working together for some time now.
And that made one thing obvious.
Velra had not just pulled random beasts out. The old man had selected these three exactly because they would not let a person breathe.
’This sadistic man only wants to break me... maybe I was wrong about him. He is a prick.’
Theo wanted to laugh, but he didn’t, all focus was meant to be on the three beasts.
The mantis had finally jumped off the reptilian beast’s neck and came back with a flick of one foreleg that sent some blood to the side.
But the reptilian beast was looking worse now.
It had poison already spreading from the neck wound and the jaw had not fully recovered from the kick.
Theo took note of that first.
One of them was weakening faster which was good for his situation.
And it also had to be the first one to take care of.
’Mantis, the lizard first and with full pressure.’ Theo spoke in the bond and the mantis’s emotions sharpened right away.
The bird had managed to pull itself out and was now hopping back a little with one wounded leg before flapping again to gain a little height.
Theo ignored it for one second more and sprinted toward the reptilian beast.
The panther too moved, trying to cut him off, but this time Theo took the risk and did not slow down.
Its claw touched the side of the black armor and sent a violent pain through his ribs but Theo still kept going.
He got in front of the reptilian beast just as it was opening its mouth again.
The acid had not fully built yet.
Theo shoved the sword straight into its mouth from the side.
Not deep enough to kill.
Just enough to stop the shot.
The beast’s jaws clamped down in panic and Theo almost lost the sword right there.
’MANTIS NOW.’
The mantis came as a streak of white and metallic green and a spray of spores came out of it.
The reptilian beast inhaled it all and the mantis moved away right away.
The panther was on for another try at Theo’s neck but this time, the mantis kept it company.
Theo pulled his sword out, scraping the blade against the reptilian beast’s teeth.
He went and pulled the rope from the side of his waist and quickly rolled it around the reptile’s mouth before moving away.
All this time, he kept his nose blocked and his mouth fully closed.
He did not want to get hit by the spores too.
And soon enough, the beast opened its eyes only to see its mouth fully locked.
Theo’s spatial senses worked again and he found the bird coming down at him with its sharp claws.
At the same time, the reptilian beast let out a hideous scream and started thrashing like it had gone mad from the rope.
It was still bleeding from the mouth and Theo needed to hurry.
Dust rose around as the bird came near, the wings flapping and making the land chaotic.
’One down, two to go.’
With the aura coated around the blade, Theo waited for the claws of the bird to finally come to him.
And when they did, without thinking of how it got attacked before too and still had an open wound, Theo just bashed the sword’s blunt side into the claws.
Right at contact, one of the few claws broke right away and the bird shrieked before moving up again.
Theo switched off the aura right away, he didn’t want it dwindling any time soon.
And all this time, it started feeling weird that the panther had not sneakily tried attacking him.
The mantis was keeping it company and just when Theo realized it and finally noticed them, it let the spores right at the panther’s face, making it jerk its neck once, give a little sneeze, and fall to the ground.
Theo ran with the sword in hand and quickly tied the panther’s mouth.
’It’s sharp...’
It was not only the panther’s back that was covered with blade-like scales but even the hair it had near its mouth was like that.
Theo looked up again and saw the bird just flying up without seeming to come down anytime soon.
Theo thought that he had time so he moved together all the fluffy paws of the panther and tied them all together with enough strength that the paws wouldn’t break but also be tight enough to stay on.
He quickly got up with heavy breathing and looked at the bird flying and dripping blood all over the ground.
Just when Theo was going to hyper-jump toward the bird to finally finish this challenge—
Velra shouted, "THAT IS ENOUGH!"
With Theo’s knees still bent as he was about to launch himself, he stopped and looked at Velra with a frown.
Velra looked at the reptile who was bleeding from its mouth and the panther that was fully tied up and then at Theo.
He moved his hand once in the air, making the bird shriek and start to come down to him.
Theo watched it come down to the ground and stay beside Velra.
He didn’t know what was happening but there was a dissatisfied expression on his face.
And when Velra saw it, he couldn’t help but mutter,
"You use freakish techniques."
"But I can’t say I don’t like it..."
