Insect Tamer's Ascension Chapter 542. You can speak now??! But how??
Previously on Insect Tamer's Ascension...
"Are these your tamed beasts, Professor?" Theo asked while huffing in exhaustion.
He was still a little mad about what the professor had made him do. No matter how much he liked it, there was a limit to how much you could test a 2nd-year student.
"If my beasts were here, you would have been cut in half, student." Velra spoke and kept a hand on the bird’s head.
He whistled very hard, and the assistants that were inside another hut came out and looked at the situation.
They were the same ones that had obliged the orders Velra had given them before.
With potions in hand, they quickly came forward and poured them on the bird’s leg and into the reptile’s mouth after opening the rope.
"These are beasts I have been taking care of since they were born. They are not my tamed ones, but can act as much at any time." Velra spoke with a proud gaze.
Theo looked at the state of the reptile beast and sighed. If they were his childhood beasts, why would he let them get beat up like this?
The professor was a strange one, and Theo wanted to end it at that.
"So, do I have the permission?" Theo asked.
Velra looked at Theo and made a sound of ’hmph’ one more time.
"You did show me your worth," he spoke. "You don’t need to attend any training till the match. You can do whatever you want. I won’t let your classes resume the same way too. Enjoy." Velra spoke.
Theo was surprised to hear that. He opened his mouth but closed it as soon as possible. There was no telling when this madman would flip again and send out dragons at him this time.
Theo could not risk it.
"What? Why are you surprised? You completed your end of the bargain. I know you are strong enough, and now you are getting your reward. Are you still unsatisfied?" Velra asked with a frown, to which Theo smiled and showed his poker face again.
"Nothing like that, Professor. I will be going now. Thank you." Theo spoke and gave a light bow.
He started moving away and then realized that he had something that didn’t belong to him.
"Should I keep the armor back where it was?" Theo asked, and Velra only nodded to that.
Theo got dressed back into his clothing as soon as possible and went away.
He didn’t have time anymore. After getting back to the dormitory,
Elias already had a carriage paid for outside the academy as if knowing that Theo would be back with it.
Theo was not surprised by that, but there was that feeling that they trusted him so much that no matter what, the task would be completed if it was Theo.
Although the fight was tough, things were already packed for a round trip, and they just got in the carriage.
"Why are you both with me?" Theo asked with a frown, only for Clara to frown even more at that question.
"Why ask that, young master? You know I will always be there wherever you go." Clara spoke, and Theo looked at Elias, who only shrugged his shoulders.
"You need protection too, young master. You are the heir of the Merricks." Elias said casually and closed his eyes as if thinking of something.
"But who will take care of the insects back in the dormitory..." Theo asked, making both attendants look at him. They hadn’t thought of that.
After taking care of that quickly, the boring journey started yet again, and Theo took out a journal to write down what he had seen so far in development, his schedule, and everything else to organize his mind.
The carriage moved fast, and many hours later, the unruly road started making them know that they were getting close.
Theo put the journal away and moved the curtain to the side to look outside.
The road had started getting worse, the trees in the distance were also getting denser, and that was when Theo felt a very faint pulse in the back of his mind.
That pulse was so familiar, as if he had come back to a home he had lost many years ago.
"...I will be back," Theo spoke one time, and the others knew right away.
His face jerked back and hit the cushion of the seat, and his eyes turned golden. When the attendants saw this scene, they smiled. It did look violent, but they all knew what it meant for Theo.
Theo got sucked into a dark place, not his physical body but his consciousness instead.
It was a very familiar feeling, and then he came close enough to see a cluster of minds all tied together, of different sizes.
Theo smiled when he felt all those emotions invade his mind.
The others, in their thousands, already knew something had entered the hive, and the presence was making many feel happy.
And it was at that moment that Theo got chained to something and started to move toward what looked like a slightly bigger blob of light for starters.
But the more he came closer, the bigger it became until Theo went inside it with speed. That was the first time he had noticed that.
’You never delayed my entry to the mind, and I always saw what you thought would be right for me, Ant Queen. But today was great, I don’t feel any pressure on my mind at all even after being this close to thousands of minds,’ Theo thought, but it resounded everywhere.
After so long, it felt so easy to communicate that even if he were to not send these words to it and just emotions, the Ant Queen and the others would already know what he wanted to say within milliseconds.
Theo felt overwhelming emotions of excitement from the mind he was in.
Until Theo decided to speak again but stopped.
’W..el--comeeaaa’
It was a sound akin to a woman who had a severe infection in her throat. Theo could tell that the word took everything for the individual to speak out, and his mind just burst with so many questions.
’I am back!’
